Rancho Cabanas San Isidro Lodge

not the Ritz, but gracious family host you at their family ranch.

Great and abundant food by Margarita, and drives to Urique and Tarahumara/Rirumuri sites and culture by Mario. great overlooks of the Urique Canyon. we were picked up by Mario at Divisidero...friendly, good English. The ranch is pretty self-sufficient, with cattle, horses, veggie garden, etc. A highlight to our trip to Copper Canyon.

Avoid this hotel and Balderrama Collection brand

Careful with this hotel, they don’t have a coffee machine in the whole hotel, heaters don’t work, forniture is old with the excuse it’s rustic, there is no cell data and barely signal for calls, there’s no internet, they say that it’s not working for now but reviews from 2017 saying the same. There is bad attitude from the personnel there, cleaned up our room and they didn’t put more toilet paper, it’s so close to train station that you will hear it on your head so loud at midnight and 6 am. Parking lot is so tight and personnel sey, you can park wherever you want. There’s no food, coffee or bar there, with the excuse you go to their most expensive hotel near there, where they will charge you 20 dollars for a dinner, that the accountant of the hotel described that has meat, poultry and salads, having grilled chicken, ground meat, spaghetti and a salad with only tomatoes and lettuce... and they charge you for drinks on top.

Older hotel, quiet night's sleep

Reviewed By Dave M

This is an older hotel, well past its prime. It is located in the historic center of Chihuahua. The rooms are clean and the AC good. For the price, it's good value for a good night's sleep. It's quiet, but the street out front does not feel safe at night, and I travel everywhere in Mexico. There is plenty of hot water, but be forewarned, you get no soap, no shampoo or anything. You also do not get a bottle of water and they don’t have any on site to buy either. The WiFi can be sketchy, depending on where your room is. The people were very helpful, but no taxis responded when they called for one. It says no smoking, but there were plenty of ash trays full of cigarette butts in the courtyard. Again, it's a dated property, but clean. It just need some TLC. But you will sleep well. At a fair price.

Horrible stay! Lack of management

Reviewed By Cuepor

Terrible place to stay!! I will never return there. My family and I reserve for 2 nights only stay one night this place is dirty and old, the AC was broken and the worse part is that we had to deal with loud people drinking outside we complain more then 4 times but they didn't do anything I couldn't take my kids out of that hotel because it was 4 am but next morning I book in another hotel. The management there really sucks we didn't even care about a reimbursement after the cancellation but they never apologize instead they were acting horrible to us. Is not safe place for you and your family!! The most frustrating part was had to deal with the poor and lack of management. their attitude is horrible they prefer to distort things before accepting that they do not know how to do their job and ask customers for an apology. Very disappointing!

Cerocahui Wilderness Lodge

Excellent lodge and and hosts

Reviewed By carl j

I have been to this area many times and stayed at Margarita's other hotels (as well as other hotels in the area) many times. This lodge is different, it's unique, and unexpected. Beautiful location - in the forest on the rim of a local canyon. Great, easy to difficult hiking from the front door. Very nice rooms. and facility - rather the unexpected. Fairly near the charming village of Cerocahui and a drive to Urique at the bottom of "Copper Canyon". This is a one of a kind, wilderness lodge, it is not Disneyland, it is the real deal. This lodge lives up to Margarita's reputation of all of her places, to have a great place to eat, sleep, meet people, and have adventures. .At this lodge the host, Arturo Ortiz, is a very knowledgeable guide, cook, was most accommodating, and did his best to make our stay an enjoyable.one.. Excellent !

Copper Canyon Sierra Lodge

Copper Canyon Sierra Lodge is a beautiful log lodge hotel situated in the high country Sierra, just about 18 miles from Creel. No electricity, no internet, just rustic lodging with first class amenities such as private tiled baths, comfortable, clean beds with cotton blankets, lanterns and wood burning stoves. Meals are included in the daily rate - and are served family style in the large dining room with fireplace and bar. Enjoy a cold margarita before dinner, complimentary of course! Endless hiking possibilities right from the front door! Elias is your consummate host and can help arrange for a guide, for a small guide fee. Hike to Cusarare waterfalls, the mission village of Cusarare and hike into the remote canyons.

Paying a visit to an old friend.

My husband and I have a life-long friend who lives in Copper Canyon, by the Sierra Lodge. His name is Corpus, we went to visit him and stayed at the Sierra Lodge. It was very cold, it snowed the day before. we got a room with a big fireplace, plenty of wood and didn't let the fire extinguished all night. Dinner was based on a bowl of lentil soup and chiles rellenos. A true delicacy. The cooks, Martha and Maria are excellent, they are also neighbours to the hotel. The hotel is not located in Creel but in Cusárare, 12 miles south of Creel, it is still the best option for us who love to be as close to nature as possible but with a good bed and a bathroom, and to learn from the native raramuri .
