Reviewed By BarnchesterThis was our 6th stay at Hotel Rocca della Dena, and our first since the pandemic. The hotel is in a beautiful location with amazing sea views. Our favourite part of the day was having a glass of wine in the evening on the terrace. We have stayed before in the sea view rooms, but this time we were in a room overlooking the street. They are all good. It's a 10 minute walk into the old town where there's a fantastic choice of restaurants, and the hotel has it's own private steps to the beach below. But what makes this place special is the staff, their friendliness, service, and attention to detail. Thank you for another wonderful stay and we will be back next year!

This is not a resort for international tourists—there are many better options that provide more value for your money. The beach is beautiful, but many staff members are less than friendly, and the atmosphere feels more like an Italian summer camp. If you do not have a car you will be very bored in the evenings.

Reviewed By 989triciabJust back after an eight night stay. Had the most amazing time. Staff were excellent. Great service all round. Rooms were spotless cleaned every day with fresh towels. Pool area was lovely. Had lunch a few times. Food was delicious. Proper home made Italian food. Breakfast was plentiful with loafs of choice. Cakes were amazing. Only a five minute walk into town with lots of lovely restaurants. I would highly recommend. And would most certainly return.

Reviewed By MyTravelingPandaWe had a lovely stay at the Villa Garden. The grounds are really pretty and the staff is very friendly and hospitable. The location is not far from the center (about a five minute drive), but bear in mind the road is very steep. Our room was very small and a few additions would make it more comfortable. Such as more hooks and towel racks (as those in our room were stuck on the wall & the weight of a towel felt too heavy to hold it up). A chair or two, even outside would have been a plus as well. But honestly, for the price, this accommodation can’t be beat!

The house, nestled in a small garden, is easy to reach by car and has its own, large, parking with video surveillance. The rooms, very bright, offer guests a high level of tranquility and comfort. The external thermal system, the air conditioning system and the hydronic photovoltaic, guarantee, in addition to respect for the environment, a high level of comfort. The furnishings and finishes are modern and the rooms are soundproof, each have their own terrace or balcony or garden equipped table, reclining chairs and sun loungers. The breakfast is one of our strengths. Are the favorite sought after local products with an obsessive attention to neighboring markets and campaigns. Reviewed By MarceloolI could not think of a better place to be in the whole Italy! Staying at Residenza RoMa in Tropea for one week was definitely the highlight of the trip. First of all, the room is amazing, modern, clean, spacious and with a outside area for you to enjoy the pleasant evenings. The internet connection is also good ( this was important for us since we were working some days) and the location is also good, just some minutes away from the city or from the beach. The breakfast, oh the breakfast! My god, sometimes I was not sure if I was awake or dreaming ? But the best thing from this place is not a thing. Is its people. We had the best attention and care from Anna, Antonio and Chris. It was amazing! I leave here my gratitude for them and for everything we lived there. Really, I have no worlds to describe it. I can only recommend you to give yourself this experience when in Tropea.

Reviewed By Rosiek28We stayed in Tropea a few years ago at Villa Paola - before it got "famous" - and we loved it but agreed it would be better to be right in the Centro Storico if we visited Tropea again. We sought out the hotel we would next stay at - Palazzo Mottola. It was clearly the best hotel within the town back then and suited our needs of dining out every night and use of the beaches rather than a swimming pool. Make sure you get a transfer that is authorised to driving within the Centro Storico otherwise you will get dropped outside and if you have never been before, you will no doubt get lost. We were fine. Through an unassuming door just off the best little piazza (IMO) and you are away from the craziness. Just a simple reception - always prosecco upon arrival and you sit on the little bacony while they process your arrival/room. All three ladies whom we dealt with were amazingly helpful and friendly. Breakfast is continental unless you ask for cooked items - eggs in many different ways but they will try to please you, even offering to nip out and buy something if they don't have it. I love una torta or pastry for breakfast in Italy so I was content. We did nothing but eat breakfast and sleep there overlooking the most beautiful sea in Europe (we have been to the Seychelles, Maldives, Caribbean etc...). Tropea is best kept a secret - We decided to retire here the last time we were in Tropea, and this visit renewed our desire to! Palazzo Mottola is without a pool, but with an amazing roof top bar. They will arrange a tuk-tuk (amazing experience) to beach clubs/lidos or you can walk. They are so cheap compared to other European beach clubs. PM has limited rooms being boutique, but it has everything you need. The service is impeccable and the friendliness of the staff was second to none. I know we will return, even just to meet the staff again. Absolutely loved every second of our stay. Thank you ladies xx

Villa and grounds are stunning with views of the sea from all main areas and a wonderful view of the town of Tropea on the cliffs. We stayed in the suite which was sumptuous with spectacular views and own terrace. Modern and sensitive restoration of this ancient convent dating back to 1543. Staff friendly and always around to help or give advice. If we had one complaint it is we only stayed 3 nights and should have booked longer! We are touring along the coast in our car and the parking here at Villa Poala excellent for our large car. We booked a boat trip independently and the port area is only a few minutes by car or walk about 12 mins walk down through the Villa's walled vegetable and fruit garden. The walk to the port is fairly easy but a little bit steep and rocky at some parts of the pathway so wear trainers or suitable shoes. Getting into town we used a tuk tuk but many others walked into town about 15 minute walk or 2 mins by Tuk Tuk The town of Tropea is filled with an array of restaurants all with amazing food. The fresh food here is of a high standard choice of fish or meat everyday. So many bars and restaurants the choice was incredible all high quality and looked so pretty. A lot of attention to detail in the restaurants in Tropea. And staff very helpful - would recommend booking everything in advance as will be busy in the Summer months. We were here end of May early June many restaurants full every night. The town has been voted most beautiful village in Italy Borgo dei Borghi 2021 and is a Unesco world heritage site. We don't usually give reviews but for this outstanding property we made an exception. The planted areas surrounding the villa are also beautiful with a mixture of spectacular Mediterranean plants including the regal pine tree which is around 400 years (maybe older) We will be back soon.

The worst hotel ever
Reviewed By informx3I have been 2 days with a travelling group in this hotel and got the worst experience ever. (Having an experience of way more than 1.000! Hotels in my life) Apart of the fact that the rooms where not really clean, the air condition in several rooms did not work. Dinner was served by some amateur employees who needed 1/2 an hour to serve the drinks for 32 persons. The meal was cold and extremely few. No salad !!!! Neither buffet nor served at the table. Asking for a supplement initiated asap the request of the room number ( to be charged extra). All drinks Where booked on the room. At the end the bill had additionally 2 cocktails which i never had. Breakfast is served behind a glass wall an you got a suspect view if you ordered more than 2 slices of ham or salami or whatever. Troubled eggs where cold and made from industrial egg powder. Everyone of us 32 has been extremely disappointed from the performance of the hotel. Today one of the guests has written a short review on facebook and received an answer that must be understood as ´pi.. of fu.... group tourists ´. I mean : if they do not want a bus full of people, they should not make a quotation and not accept the booking. My room was in the souterrain with a wonderful view in a wall just 2 meters away. I had the room number 411 from May 27 til may 29 2022.

Excellent B&B, warm hospitality

The breakfast is amazing and rosella goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy it! The rooms are clean and v comfortable and covid regulations were all kept to. Tranquil location easy to get to old centre of Tropea. Highly recommend and will be back!
