Super comfy bed, nice pool and jacuzzi

Reviewed By Kacper148

It was the only hotel available in the town. We got a nice room with very big and comfy bed. Everything was clean and fresh. The shower was spacious and nice. The room wasn't super warm, but there was enough bed covers. The water in the shower was hot without any issues. We used the jacuzzi in the evening and it was a good way to relax. I also liked the view from the balcony. You can feel almost like in a chalet in the Alps ;-) The staff was nice, but does not seem very professional. We didnt use the restaurant.

OYO Hotel El Mineral

Quirky, charming and comfortable

Reviewed By ComradeCamper

The first thing you notice when you enter the courtyard of this hotel is birdsong. There are two warblers in cages just inside the hotel's entrance, and one of them sings all day long. The next thing you notice is the intensely bright colors of the hotel's walls -- DEEP pink, and marine blue. There's a lovely mural painted on one wall, memorial in the day in the 1930's when half the town was washed away in a mine disaster. And then as you look around, you'll see dozens of calla lilies and some whimsical garden sculptures. When you go in the office to get your key, you'll see dozens of masks, papier-mâché figures, wood carvings, etc, etc. You could stay busy for hours, just looking around the office/dining room. We had a small room on second floor (#4, I believe). Twin beds, beautiful linens, wonderful tiles in the bathroom, very nice town scenes on the walls of the room. We were a little cramped for space -- but we were only in the room to sleep. All day long, we were out looking around the town. We didn't even try the TV, so I can't say if it worked. Our room was immaculate! We had a beautiful clay jar with filtered water just down the hall, and we helped ourselves to the clay cups that were hanging near the jar. The shower worked great! There was a lot of noise all night long from rockets/firecrackers being shot off in honor of the Virgin Mary, so sleep quality wasn't the greatest. As far as I could tell, thus was true all over Michoacan, all during Lent. We had been promised that there would be coffee available in the lobby, I believe at 8:00 AM, but that was not the case. There was NO ONE around at that time off day! Fortunately, the hotel is situated within easy walking distance of the entire center of town, so it only takes 5-10 minutes to get to restaurants, shops, the museum, and the churches. We were on a tour, and the price of the hotel was included, so I gave no idea if this hotel was a good bargain.

Amazing food and ambience

Reviewed By Brenda R

We recently went on a tour to see the monarch butterflies and ancient ruins in Western Mexico. My friend and I and our tour guide ate there late one night. I believe they were closed when we approached (most other restaurants were), but they opened up to accommodate us. The food was first class. The burritos are bursting with flavor. There is a small side salad with an amazing vinaigrette which I wish I could get the recipe for. We also ordered every type of tapas that they had. Those too were amazing. I was really hoping to go back the following day, but was not able to. If I ever return, I will be eating here again. There are beautiful quotes painted into the walls, and there you are surrounded by antiques and other memorabilia which gives this cafe an intimate and gentle ambiance. There is an M painted on their hotel sign, I believe this might mean that they have been awarded the Michelin. We did not spend the night in the hotel has he had booked accommodations elsewhere.

Hotel Plaza Mayor

Reliable budget family friendly place in the heart of Tlalpujuhua

Reviewed By ABCinATL

We've stayed here a couple of times now. The owner/manager is friendly and responds to phone requests (she has held a room for us without a credit card). We love the location - smack in the middle of town, with certain rooms overlooking a pretty plaza. You can walk everywhere in town from here (but bring flat shoes and go slowly as the hills are killer, haha). We are a family of four and we usually get one of the two rooms that have a balcony overlooking the plaza. The room on the corner is slightly louder because you hear the vendors arriving and setting up their stands early in the morning (the sound of metal poles dropping on cobblestone streets isn't that pleasant but it subsides pretty quickly). Overall recommendable due to location and price. Oh and there is a parking lot a half block from the hotel, we've always parked there and had no issue.

Great Place to Stay in the Corner of Town

Reviewed By Raina K

We stayed at Hotel Parroquia for 2 nights. We arrived there late at night but as soon as we got there, the owner came outside and guided us where to park our car. He was very attentive and welcoming. (A plus that they are dog friendly! Also, the drive to the Sierra Monarchs was super easy and a beautiful drive from the hotel. Anyone traveling up in the mountains, make sure to dress warm!) The next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. They have freshly squeezed orange juice and a great cup of coffee. I don't know the name of the girl who worked in the kitchen but she made the best Huevos Rancheros! (We had the same breakfast the next morning also) The vibe there is very comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an easygoing stay in the mountains.
