Hot, unpleasant hotel

Reviewed By danielgW995EL

At first, I was really taken with the hotels charm. However, my experience was anything but charming. The room was incredibly stuffy. The yellow sheets were very hot and seemed to be made out of polyester. In the description on Expedia, there is meant to be a ceiling fan. However, there was only a tower fan that wasn’t nearly strong enough to cool the room. Because of the heat, we had to open the windows which let a bunch of mosquitos into the room. There were no screens on the window. My friend and I woke up covered in bites. Sleeping was made even more difficult by the thin drapes on the window that let light stream into our room from the street all night long. We left early and requested a refund through Expedia. After 3 days, the hotel management responded claiming that we stayed the full two nights and that their sheets are cotton. I would absolutely not recommend.

Excellent Views

Reviewed By vjleone

Everything about our stay was good--in particular the view from the balcony of the room. Be sure to ask for a room with a view. The attached restaurant has even better views and good food. I don't normally like to eat in hotel restaurants, but this was an exception. The hotel is very close to the Costa Line bus station, but uphill from it. You might not want to walk with your luggage from the station to the hotel.

Artistically decorated inn

This is as lovely hotel, reasonably priced with an artistic flair in decoration. We recommend room 3 Los Libros - a corner spot on the main level where breakfast is served. Nice table and chairs outside our room for our use. Gorgeous view over Taxco. Breakfast is continental - just coffee/tea and croissants/jam. The only drawback for us are the many, many stairs up to the hotel (incredible views) and the many, many stairs down to where the action is for restaurants, shopping and Museo Spratling. My husband has trouble negotiating stairs at the best of times so it was wearing on our energy. If you are fit, there is no problem at all. The folks who work there were unfailingly polite and sweet. We enjoyed our stay very much. Taxis are super cheap, by the way - 25 pesos anywhere in town. So once we got down all the stairs in the hotel and on the winding streets, we were away to the races. No English TV stations.Wifi was fine in the hallways but not good in our particular room.

Centrally located, good budget choice

Reviewed By Marcia S

It's an old two story hotel, dating back to the 1940's, centrally located near the zocalo but quiet. The rooms surround a lovely courtyard filled with fruit trees, flowers and potted plants. Rooms are small and bathrooms are basic but have adequate hot water and water pressure. The wifi signal in our room was very weak but stronger near the reception area. Management should consider investing in broader wifi coverage and in a little bit of cosmetic updating but it's a good budget option.

Wallet stolen

Hotel is OK, room is a bit old and tiny. nothing fancy. The last day we checked out the room and left our luggages at reception to enjoy the last day in this great city. After a few hours we relizee we forgot passport and wallet in the room. Only the passport was there when we came back for it. Wallet with all documents, visa and of course money disappeared.. Staff helped us to look into cleaning ladies garbage, all the laundry but nothing. No doubt that someone who had access in the room after we left stole it as its impossible they found the passport without the wallet as they were together.

Great Price, Great Location

Reviewed By nymel0dy

This place is only minutes away from the bus station and center of town by foot. The accommodations were comfortable and the hospitality was excellent. I was originally given a room on the bottom floor by the pool but asked if I could be on the top floor, with a city view and balcony instead. The front desk person without hesitation granted my request without hesitation and without an extra charge. The only thing about this place is you are not provided with a key to the front gate to get into the property so you have to ring the bell and wait for someone to let you in. A few times I had to wait at least 5 minutes to get in, otherwise I would have given this place 5 stars.

Beautiful Grounds

Reviewed By Tanya G

Room (suite) was spacious although dated (actually equipped with a record player but no records). Mysterious water kept appearing on the bathroom floor. The pool looked inviting although we had no time to use it. The grounds are lovely and home to two curious peacocks. The included breakfast was poor and up 5 flights which was a problem for my elderly Dad although they offered to bring it down to him at the pool. The piped in music at the pool ran until late (after 11 p.m.) and could be heard in our bedroom. Hotel attracts a lot of Mexican families which makes for a nice but noisy atmosphere.
