The staff was very polite and helpful, The location was very convenient for getting around and many activities. Food Was delicious ... It is located on the way Madikeri to Belur... If we were to travel to Coorg again, we would definitely stay there again!

Reviewed By roadtripblrhi all been there on dec 2020, excellent property,very neat and hspacious rooms with balcony and hygiene barrooms, it becomes very chill at night times and the beds are very comfortable for a good sleep. service was super, at all times when we need something it was there in minutes,have car parking in basement(its a steep car parking so should be careful) at the center of town and ll get everything necessity by walk

Flawless stay experience in Somwarpet
Reviewed By karthik641We were a group of 4 bikers and we stopped at Masgodu estate Homestay in August 2021, right in the thick of the malnad monsoon season as part of a multi day ride through Karnataka. The Homestay itself is beautifully designed, they have one master bedroom and a small one with twin beds, ideal for families as well as small groups. Both rooms have a large common balcony overlooking the greenery outside. Cleanliness levels were top notch, nothing to fault there. The Homestay building has its own dining area as well, so one does not need to walk anywhere for the food, it is all brought and served right at our room dining area. Kavitha and Sudarshan sir are great hosts and fantastic company, they also helped a lot with route information for our next day’s schedule. The service levels were exemplary, the staff were always smiling and ready to help with qny requests, and food taste was fantastic. Kavitha is a perfectionist cook and it shows in the effort put into every single dish she serves. All in all, a perfect stay experience and perhaps the only regret I had was that I didn’t have 2 stomachs to stuff myself with all the delicious food meal after meal :) Will definitely return here for a longer stay!

Not a good experience at all
Reviewed By SurekhamahajanWe had planned and booked this place more than 2 weeks in advance of our travel date. While booking there was no mention of advance to be paid; however few days after booking the host wanted some money as advance. This was alright if he had managed communicating this to us properly. He tried reaching us, although we never received a call, mail or message from him. Since he couldn't reach us he assumed that we will not be visiting his home stay and cancelled our booking on booking.com. This request was not processed and was showing as pending and he still went ahead and gave our room to someone else. So when we reached the place after driving almost 1000kms from Bombay, there was no room available. To make the situation worse he was not even apologetic about his actions and kept giving excuses that since he could not reach us he gave our booking to someone else. After a long argument he helped us secure a booking in another homestay. When we reached there we found it to be filthy, impossible to stay, so did not stay there. This was a blessing in disguise though as we ended up in the most beautiful, quaint estate stay called Masgodu Estate Stay where everything was perfect. I will not comment on the rooms in Stay simple since we never stayed there but one thing is for sure, in so many bookings done via booking.com this was the first experience where the host cancelled the booking without informing us and gave our rooms to someone even when booking was not cancelled on the app. My advice if you plan to stay in this place, call the owner for confirmation before reaching.

Excellent Homestay, incredible food and a birdwatcher's paradise
Reviewed By Chandreyee MHill woods cottage in Somwarpet is clearly one of the best places for a weekend away. We've been there thrice, with a pet and had the best time of our lives. Few points to note - - It's in the middle of nowhere and with no city based distractions - gorgeous views, birds, butterflies, waterfalls et. al.. It's perfect for people who have a penchant for experiencing nature in all it's glory - The accommodation is very comfortable and pet - friendly with some brilliant views - The folks at Hill woods are incredible. They are extremely sweet and friendly and made our stay absolutely comfortable. We loved the homely feeling - The food they serve is fantastic. They've always tried to serve us authentic coorg cuisine which we loved. We also loved the fact that a lot of produce that went into the preparation of the food was derived from their own plantations - We went for the plantation walk, which was exactly like walking in the middle of the forest. They showed us the different fruits and vegetables they grow there, most of which us city slickers had never seen - Last but certainly not the least, the birds you get to see here are amazing. We've managed to spot new species of birds ( those we personally haven't see before) every time. We've seen hornbills, minivets, barbets, velvet - fronted nuthatch, swallows, parakeets, woodpeckers and many more. PS: They make their own wine and squashes which are fantastic and a must try. Would definitely be going back there again. :)
