Probably the best hotel on the island

Reviewed By CountHuguenot

I love this place, it has character and personality - the other travellers, the staff, the ancient brass window handles made perfectly in three parts... it's like a second home. Even in the off-season its filled with interesting people with great stories to tell, a great pub which loosen tongues and you discover you are next to a millionaire who also prefers this to the 5* hotel up the road. "No atmosphere! It's like waiting for your cosmetic surgery in that place! This is real and you can be who you are" Ha!! exactly my sentiments. The rooms are clean, the view is spectacular, there is plenty of hot water and cold air con.....but the fun is downstairs with all the people. Beaches, town etc.... all walkable.

Good location but noisy

Reviewed By teekay20202018

We stayed for 3 nights in early October. Location is excellent - you walk from the Port to the hotel. It is also at the Skala town centre. Very good views from our hotel room balcony to the St Peters Monastery and of Chora town. Lovely restaurants all nearby. We ate at the lovely Pantelis, which is some meters from the hotel. The bed was really horrible. You feel the spring right into your back as you lie down! Surely, the hotel should change such beds. Plenty of noise from the hotel entrance and approaching road right into our room even at midnight. Room door does not open easily. Swimming pool looks partly derelict (at least the bar area) and it is located right at the drive-in entrance to the hotel! This eliminates any privacy - no wonder we did not see anyone use it throughout our stay. Breakfast was very basic, with items running out.

Good value for the price

Reviewed By Bill S

The facilities are simple and somewhat worn, but acceptable. Considering that one has access to the pool and restaurant in the adjacent hotel Elvita, one lives well. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is sparsely furnished, and could definitely use some more shelving, especially the bathroom. As in most all Mediterranean hotels, the beds are quite short & hard - I’ve never quite figured that out. I would stay here again.

Extremely pleasant stay in cozy central hotel

Reviewed By linakou89

Lovely, privately owned hotel in beautiful central location with monastery and harbour views. Special little as on: The sweet smell of the night flower during the evening hours. The owner, Tom is extremely professional, very helpful and ready to assist with anything you need, tips or advice for the island, if you need any supplement in the room he will personally take care of it straight away. The rooms are clean and all equipped with a balcony with beautiful views. The central yet quiet location allows you to reach everything you need within walking distance, super market, cafés, restaurant, the port. We stay in hotel Rodon every time we come to Patmos, highly recommend!! :-)

Home from home

Reviewed By ian_graham

It is some years since I write my last review for the Australis Hotel and have stayed there many times in the intervening period. It feels like a good time to write another. The warm welcome each time makes one feel like one is coming home. What also struck me on my most recent visit is how many familiar faces one sees there each time. It is almost like a club. For people to return every year for twelve years, as some have, says something about the sustained excellent standard of all aspects of the hotel - food, cleanliness, comfort, environment - and its situation just fifteen minutes easy walk from the centre of Skala, makes it a great place to stay. Pandelis, the owner, aka Peter, is kindness personified and his father, Fokas, who created the hotel and still tends the beautiful garden, is always a delight to meet and talk to. For all of the above, and for value for money, I can't ever imagine staying anywhere else on the island.
