Fabulous hotel , bar and service

Reviewed By Steve M

Fabulous stay, rooms comfortable and room very clean with a lovely view. Staff so helpful and the bar is great with a view to remember . Food good too , at breakfast go for the cooked one as its same price as continental plus drinks and includes continental ! Ross itself is a charming market town with great views and history (Man of Ross Pub well worth seeking out for a lovely traditional pub). Good bus service if a bit infrequent but with planning you can get out and explore the amazing countryside, take a good walk and have a pub lunch too. Bus 34 and 35 take you near to Symonds Yat with good walk and pub involved . 100% happy ( book direct and even get 20% off lunch or dinner!).

Great place to stay and great value for money. We stayed in room 18, on the second floor. The stairs aren’t great, but this is mentioned on the website so wasn’t a problem as we had been made aware. Breakfast was fantastic and all locally sourced. A lovely old and quirky hotel with free parking which is always a bonus. Staff were fantastic and nothing to much trouble. Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

YHA Wye Valley

Lovely spot but not easily accessible

Reviewed By Maru M

We stayed two nights in the campsite so cannot comment on the quality of the accommodation. The campsite is good but the facilities (kitchen, showers and toilets) are in the main buiding, so a bit of a walk to go to the loo. To be fair, there are portaloos on site but they were disgustingly dirty, so we chose to do the walk every time. Same for showering and washing the dishes. Not necessarily a problem but it would be helpful to state in the website how far the facilities are from the campsite. We were there on the busy jubilee bank holidays, yet, the place didn't feel busy (although it was). We didn't have to queue for the showers or the kitchen, so this was a plus. The facilities could be a dash cleaner, so that was a minus... It's worth noting that access to the site is not the easiest. There is a tiny narrow one way track with a couple of very sharp bends on a steep slope, which are challenging for fully loaded cars (such as those carrying all the camping gear). One day there was a delivery van parked outside the building that caused a backlog of cars waiting to get out of the campsite. We sat there for 10-15 min until the van moved. Access is a little challenging but once you are there it is worth it. The views are lovely, and of course it is just by the river Wye, so lots of people brought their wetsuits and canoes. We'd consider coming back because it is good value for money compared to some other campsites, and having access to proper toilets and showers (even if a bit of a walk away) is certainly a good selling point.

I'll be back!!!

Called in here after completing one of my walks. Staff very attentive on arrival and was poured a drink while being sat straight away at a table. Counted at least 15 other people there on a mid week lunchtime so obviously popular. I ordered the Wye Fish & Chips with chunky chips, peas and home made tartar sauce which arrived perfectly cooked and bang on 10 minutes from ordering. Having heard they did accommodation I asked if I could possibly see one of the 4 poster rooms if not a problem. It wasn't. Young lady, who had been serving, got a key and showed me the room which was really nice. They also have a function room which I looked in on passing. Again a thumbs up ? Overall a great experience with staff being helpful and attentive to everyone. Clean and tidy............Will be back again.

Stayed at The Paddocks for 2 nights in May. We booked a king size room which unfortunately had a back/side view but it was ok. Bed was 2 together but again ok as very comfortable. The room was very spacious and exceptionally clean. Bathroom was a bit dated but clean with shower gel, shampoo supplied and lovely soft towels. The grounds were landscaped beautifully and very peaceful with access to walk to local attractions. The hotel itself could do with a bit of modernisation, as a whole it was very welcoming. Full English breakfast on both mornings was buffet style, very tasty and plenty to choose from. We ate one evening in the restaurant and it was cooked to perfection. Last but not least. The staff. All friendly and helpful but a big hands up and thank you to Dillon and Marley who served us in the restaurant. They were a bit short staffed and the lads were fantastic. Obliging and smiley and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for your exceptional customer service!!! Would highly recommend to stay at this hotel and we will be returning. A beautiful unspoilt part of the country!

Quirky

Reviewed By 193jackied

A quirky property which wouldn’t suit everyone. A great location on the high street so handy for shops and restaurants. A nice garden . 2 flights of stairs up to bedrooms . Room 1 was a good size with a sofa. The bed was very comfy. A small tv and very small bathroom . My problem was that it was freezing cold and no heating . I spent the evening wrapped in a blanket. We parked around the corner as no obvious car park although the owner later said we could use his parking if we wanted to
