Aloha Hostel

Little choice in Puerto Piramides

Reviewed By Zac W

Had intended to camp in P.Piramides but the site was unfortunately closed until December. Stayed at Aloha for two nights to explore the Peninsula Valdes - the place was clean and a good location from the beach but had to settle for a dorm room with bunkbeds (not great on your honeymoon!) Which was the same price as a private double in nearby Puerto Madryn. On the plus side the staff were helpful and kept the dorm just to us two and the Peninsula itself is absolutely excellent. But the negatives were the price and the poor breakfast (save the 20pesos and get some pastries from the bakery near the gas station!).

Don’t go there!!

We went with my family after driving for 20 hours when we arrived we had the worst welcome to “The Paradise” not! The owner a very grumpy and bad manner guy who should be in a different business got annoyed with his staff because they had to call him to check our booking. He came, didn’t say hi and was in a bad mood with us because we couldn’t find the booking. After that we didn’t want to spend any more money on his business so didn’t eat there but it was pretty empty anyway. At checkout they tried to charge us more than they told us over the phone which is already a fortune compare to the other hotels. Again didn’t say hello, or goodbye and I told him we weren’t happy with his attitude that at least he should say hello, after all we were customers. He then lied and said he wasn’t the owner in front of his staff whom had just told me the contrary. I would not support his business at all, i feel sorry for his staff who are very nice but he shouldn’t be on the hotel business with that manner and bad attitude.

A boutique hotel that embraces

What a wonderful experience from the moment I walked in the door to the adventures of the region. The interior design blends exquisitely into the wilderness outside. One walks into the room and is lead outside onto the spacious balcony seamlessly to breath in its wild simple beauty. If you love the wild, you appreciate the thought that has gone into their efforts of sustainability. Repurposed materials in the building and furniture that allow one to ensure a guilt free indulgence of this very special place. This small village depends on tourism and it's fragile environment. As a visitor, I observed that the operators work with the environment. It is a sound principal of compatibility with nature, not exploitation. Prices of the excursions are very reasonable and the operators and staff are conscious of safety and respect to the animals and the environment. In addition, I don't speak Spanish and I found the staff of the hotel are attentive and helpful. Oh, and the food and wine! Ugh! Fabulous! The village has quaint cafes and lovely restaurants. Thank you for welcoming me to Puerto Piramides and beautiful memories. I am tempted to say once in a lifetime memories, but I will be back!

Amazing place to stay - V. Friendly, V. Clean, V. Comfortable

One of the cleanest, friendliest and comfortable independent hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff went out of their way to make sure myself and my colleague had everything we needed and had a good time. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and it feels like you are going home, a real local family vibe. The food is incredible with fresh bread and pastries every day at breakfast. I couldn’t recommend this place more!!!! I can’t wait to go back.

We stayed here for two nights in October. We were in the Annexe and it was terrible. My husband and I are nearly 70 and we had a flight of wooden steps to negotiate, in the dark with luggage, and then once opening the door ( a feat in itself!) were horrified to find yet another flight of open wooden stairs up to the bedroom level. The place was freezing cold and the heater inadequate to heat the place. Breakfast was laughable. We were given a basket with dried coffee, milk and tea and some cake! I told the woman I was a celiac and vegan ( we had been booked in as such) so I was given two rice cakes and some jam. The following day our breakfast 'basket' contained cake for my husband and two cheese and ham biscuits! Our friend was staying below us and was like a prison cell and just concrete floor and ceilings and one of our guides left to go back to his family the second night as he could not bear to stay another night. Appalling place. I am sure the main hotel is lovely but avoid the annexe and don't hope for much for breakfast.

We tell you that our hostel is located in the small and charming town of Puerto Pirámides, 6 blocks from the beach and located in an old house. One of the few buildings that still maintains its architecture and original style of the early 1900s. We offer double rooms (double and twin) with free Wi-Fi. Equipped with tiled floor, heating and private bathroom. Includes breakfast, dry snack (infusions, biscuits and electric kettle), bed linen, towels, hot water 24 hours, amenities, daily cleaning service, luggage, tourist information and access to our garden which is maintained in a personal way and watered with reuse water from the same inn. Check In 2:00 pm, check out 10:00 am (with flexibility depending on occupancy). Served in its entirety by its own owners. We are waiting for you !. Carolina and Alicia

Excellent place would definitely recommend to stay in Puerto piramides instead of Puerto madryn if you can such a lovely little town and you can arrange yours from one shop there called botazzi if you need. The hostel was clean, with only beds and excelled breakfast in bed!! The owner was extremely helpful and very friendly. Highly recommend.
