10 Top-Rated Hotels in Norfolk, East Anglia, England

August 6, 2022 Sachiko Swiger

A holiday in Norfolk is not a glamorous break. While the Norfolk Broads of East Anglia are a beautiful part of the UK, they represent a relaxing rural getaway rather than a high-powered city-break. Although its reputation is mostly rural, with people associating the county mostly with the wetlands of the Norfolk Broads, there are also towns such as Norwich and King's Lynn to visit, both of which provide shopping opportunities, nightlife and entertainment. Norfolk also contains a large stretch of coastline, and seaside destinations such as Cromer and Great Yearmouth mean there are great beaches to be found as well. Many areas of the Norfolk Broads and the coastal region are sites of outstanding natural beauty, and are also protected as bird reserves, so take a pair of binoculars on holiday. There are also popular wildlife attractions such as Banham Zoo, with a great collection of big cats, and Great Yarmouth's Sea Life Centre, one of the biggest of its kind in the country, complete with tropical sharks and conger eels. And of course, if any of your family are interested in boating, you'll need to rent a boat and explore the waterways of the Broads themselves!

Perfect and good location

Reviewed By Sarah N

We stayed one night here in April for my husband's birthday on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is centrally located with it's own private car park and is within walking distance to the cathedral and shops, bars etc. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was amazing. Very comfy and spotlessly clean and seeped in history. It was very quiet and we did not hear any noise or traffic. Breakfast was very nice offering all the usual suspects. The staff were very attentive and very efficient. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was to say in Norwich again.

"Excellent"

My wife & I have just returned from an "Excellent” three night stay at the Dukes Head. Check in was a breeze with a huge smile from Bella at reception. We arrived early but this was not a problem and we were offered free parking then shown to our spacious and extremely clean room with lots of tea/coffee machine & biscuits. Wi-Fi was strong all over the hotel. In the evenings we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the bar served by the extremely attentive bartenders George & Lucas. We then had delicious meals each evening in the restaurant served by Mark & Hannah. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they were so nice. In the mornings we were again spoiled by the lovely Kim our server at breakfast who again could not do enough for us. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The Duke’s Head is a delight with its splendid façade and amazing staircase leading to your room. If you are coming this way stay here and you won’t be disappointed.

Fabulous food - for locals as well as residents

Reviewed By Simon C

We live locally and this is our favourite restaurant in Old Hunstanton… so we come back at least monthly. Why? Well the food is fabulous - the menu changes regularly so even those who come back every few weeks (like us) there is always something different to try. The chef(s) is creative - in flavours and in presentation. …but what brings us back is the service. The staff are engaging, interested and really make a great evening special. That is true for the regular staff and those who we meet for the first time each visit. We applaud the management for creating such an ethos. In summary, we love the food at Caley Hall. We cannot comment on the accommodation (as we live nearby) but if it follows the restaurant, we are sure it is great - not least as I am sure the staff will make your stay special. For locals in Old Hunstanton, we are so lucky to have Caley Hall in our locality…
