Excellent Hotel Just what we needed. A little gem. Having travelled from Derbyshire we needed somewhere reliable for the night and that catered for someone who was a celiac (Medically Gluten Free). Could not have wished for any better.

Great Food and Accommodation

Reviewed By BBCHD

The rooms have been recently renovated to a high standard. Size of both main room and bathroom was outstanding - velux in the bathroom worthy of a special mention. Great view over hills to the front of the hotel - large Modern TV with good choice of channels. Good friendly service - dinner and breakfast were first rate as was the on tap Harviestoun beers. The view over Loch Tay at the bottom of the gardens is one of the finest in UK. Location is ideal for walking, cycling or touring around Loch Tay in a car - roads are small - not ideal for large motor homes or caravans.

Disgusting Room

Reviewed By TerryScubaDiver

We paid £81 for room only expecting at least a clean room with a decent bathroom and shower. We arrived exhausted after a very long drive and had to wait while 2 coach loads of guests returned after us and we were told to wait while they checked in. When we did get to the room it was disgusting. We opend the window and the frame was rotten and covered in mold. Dinner was available after the coach party sitting and was a set menu with little choice. If we had not been so exhausted we would have demanded a refund and left. The shower was a cold trickle. All in all a very bad experience we will never repeat

A Sad Shadow of its Former Self

Reviewed By Passport09344201992

We have been visiting Forest Hills for nearly two decades and it is a resort in decline. COVID cannot be blamed for its recent deterioration, only a lack of care or investment can explain the poor quality of the self catering lodge that we were in last week. We know that staffing is an issue with all in the hospitality trade but our lodge was just in poor condition. The kitchen was randomly equipped, the beds and pillows had no protectors under the sheets etc. the lights were mostly missing bulbs and one bedside lamp was probably dangerous. At least this was replaced quickly but who checks the apartment equipment? Basically the lodge was terminally tired or more appropriately “exhausted”. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained but Macdonalds rely on the wonderful view to attract customers, not the quality of hotel or lodge services. An example of the decline in services is that at one time there was a bar and bistro in the spa building but these have disappeared as has the ceiling of the pool which was attractive wooden slats. Now we see the air conditioning pipe work. This resort should be a five star attraction in such a location but lack of care and investment leaves it no more than three star (one of the stars is for the swimming pool). It would be wonderful if Macdonalds would spend some money and bring the resort up to its previous best standard but they seem happy to rest on their laurels. What a shame! Incidentally a small glass of red wine and a Martini and lemonade came to over £13 in the hotel bar. These are 5 star prices in a hotel of below this standard.

Premier Inn Dumbarton/Loch Lomond Hotel

A bonnie town right on the Clyde, Dumbarton is the gateway to the Lowlands, and the Premier Inn Hotel Dumbarton is the place to stay. Whether you're enjoying the highlife at a wedding at nearby Cameron House, or you're simply breaking the journey on your way to the Highlands, there's plenty to see and do. From walking round the banks of Loch Lomond, to browsing round the boutiques in the shore shopping centre, you'll find lots to tempt you. Traditional Scotland is much in evidence, with the Pipe Band Championships, or a hot toddy on offer at the Auchentoshan whisky distillery. Then it's time for a warm welcome at our restaurant, and a lovely comfy bed.

Not the best

Reviewed By Melissa D

It was an ok Premiere Inn…not the best i have stayed in but was ok for a night. The room (family room) was big, although the smallest bed is only really suitable for aged 10 and under. The room did have a bit of travel noise from outside, but was clean. The windows do not open. The staff dont seem too happy and not as welcoming as others we have stayed in.
