Reviewed By Veepy5If calm and a quiet ambience among lush greens is what u looking for, this is the place to be in kumta. Located a bit inside the highway, this property sits amidst a typical village. Though the property is a bit old, it has a charming feel to it. The caretaker of the place is quite a calm and friendly guy and is quite responsive. The breakfast though minimal is quite tasty, adequate and home made. Ample parking is available in the premises. Currently only breakfast is provided and there is no inhouse restaurant functional owing to covid. Overall it was a lovely stay and super value for the price.

Reviewed By abhishek_b_20220228The rooms are not worth of money paid. 1) walls are cracked, no painting done. 2) room service is not very prompt if scheduled hours is missed. 3) room 203 a/c do not work well. room 201 toilet basin leaks water & corset holder broken. 4) food is good, nice portions but breakfast is not good at all. just proved the word, anything free is subject to verification (it is complimentary). 5) too much power issue. 6) though 3/4 plug points are given, not all power plug points work normally. In actual, it's just 1/2 which are under working condition. 7) if power cut is there, apart from fan light nothing else works. If anyone else have difference of opinion, you can share it too. It is spread over 10 acres of lush green landscape, which includes coconut, cashew nut and casuarina plantation. We are right on the uncrowded, clean and peaceful beach, and provide beachbeds. Simplicity defines the warm ambiance of our cottages. They are well-lighted, airy, have queen-sized bed and AC. Some of the furnishing of the cottages is our own production from family-run handicraft business, which we also supply to Fabindia and Westside. You rest assured that you have an attached bathroom with shower, geyser for hot water, washbasin and basic toiletries. Our restaurant, Cafe Kokam is amidst the coconut plantation overlooking the beach and have outdoor sitting, hammocks. We serve you delicacies which you can enjoy in this pleasant ambiance. This is a place you may not like to leave easily not only because of its excellent location but also for its variety of refreshing juice, beverages as well as delicious food.

Fresh and wholesome food served lovingly by a team of staff who will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and happy. Rooms are bright, clean with all amenities needed for a stay Cottage balcony overlooks the sea and the sound of the waves are a constant companion. Look forward to my next visit!!

Ethnic designed house with tiled roof with minimum required modern facilities, two rooms available for guests with attach bath. It"s an approved Home Stay by Tourism Department. Government of Karnataka. Veg & Non-Veg food will be served ( Spl in Coastal food ). The house is in 2 Acer plot with full of Mango trees and has beautiful view of Western Ghats from the house, having good playing area for children, small pool for kids, has enough parking space, separate room for drivers. Local sight seeing arranged with cabs on request. Explore Uttarkannada district with us. AN HOME STAY IN TRUE SENCE.

Reviewed By Animesh83Stayed for 2 nights in Dec 2019 with family. We were given the room on first floor in main cottage. Everything was good, from check in, food, hospitality and check out. They have two dogs at the cottage, my wife is scared of dogs, that was the only issue. But Rajeev and family were always there to manage the dogs whenever we come-in goes-out. Ample parking space is available. Kids can play around, huge garden is also available. Rajeev’s wife arranged home made sweets for us. We miss that sweets and yummy taste here in Mumbai. It’s recommended to have your own/rented vehicle, will help in commute between homestay and Gokarna.

Reviewed By anandvenkatesh001A beach stay that's located at a perfect location - between lush green and rocky hills and sea. The beach ahead of it is almost like a private beach as it has limited visitors even during peak season (1st Jan). A perfect spot to watch sun setting in the sea and stargazing at night. We as a family stayed in the seashore till 10.30Pm with no lights or people around and witnessed the beautiful bio luminous effect that happens only in this sea ( the Nirvana beach) in South India on a New moon day. Rooms are authentic with Manglore tiled roof that's perfect for both hot and cold climate. There is clean white sand all around for kids to play and nice to walk around bare footed. The mangrove plants and trees around the rooms and Cafe gives enough shade and looks beautiful. There are many hammocks (sleeping swing) tied between trees near almost every rooms enabling us to lay down outside for a nap or a read in the cool breeze. The stay is suitable for both couples and solo or group travelers. Tent stay is provided aswell (not included in room charge) and there are a good number of well maintain common bathrooms and toilet for people staying in tent and others as well to use after batting in the sea. Raghu the manager at the beach stay was very hospitile and professional, and so was his assistant Sandesh. Raghu is always willing to help you with a smiling face. They help us by arranging for beach rides and car hires for travel around the town (Yana caves, Gokarna and several trekking spots are located around). Food provided at the Cafe is very delicious cooked by Bali who is 15years experienced along with his wife. Rooms are decently charged considering what the beach stay has in store for us in and around. On the downside food is moderately expensive at the Cafe though the quantity and taste is very good.

" Water in desert"
Reviewed By drganapathibhatA hotel like Mahalaxmi comforts is like water in a desert for a place like Kumta. Situated in a complex, on the national highway, the hotel has about 26 rooms. The deluxe AC we stayed was posh, compact, with king size bed. A nice cupboard and teapoy. Ample space to move around. The air-conditioning cooled very well. There's also a fan. The bathroom plus toilet is small but adequate. Both the room and the toilet are astonishingly clean. Hot water throughout. What surprised me was the toiletries. The hotel has all that is required for a bathroom and toilet----even a four star hotel is no match for the sheer number. The reception is extremely homely and courteous----not very common for the class of hotel. RECEPTION IST Pawana was excellent with a consistent smile on her face. So was Ramya. Pravin was also nice. The television had some issues regarding channels which was rectified by Bharat in quick time. The hotel has a large compound adequate to host many cars. There are some shops in the ground floor which comes handy for hotel guests. Complimentary breakfast is is in a restaurant underground ( different management). They provide coupon in the morning. The only hitch is the breakfast is " complimentary" only till 150 Rs. Above that, it is payable! In the sense, if the bill comes to 250, one has to pay 100 from his pocket. For a family of three, 150 is a meagre amount. However, the dishes are tasty. Service is polite and responsive. Few suggestions: every room should have a peephole for security. A dustbin has to be provided in bathroom. Bathroom should have brighter lights. Backsides rooms have no views but are very peaceful. I think Mahalaxmi comforts is the best bet in Kumta.

Reviewed By Sourav_KSStayed there for 4 Days and 4 Nights. My experience was mixed with below Pros and Cons Pros: 1. Location, location and location. Its literally right on the beach with a walking time of less than a minute. Beach is secluded making it more like a private beach, 2. Property is beautiful and quite spread out. 3. Greenery all around and quite peaceful, anyone wants to chill out away from city life. 4. Service was decent. Though with limited people, they tried everything to make your stay pleasant. Cons: 1. There are insect problems (of all kinds) once the sun goes down. Furthermore, since it rained during our stay, the problem increased manifold. 2. Rooms (stayed in Super Deluxe AC Cottages) are decent and spacious but no regular clean up, more so the bathrooms. 3. Food tastes well, specially the fish items but breakfast needs huge improvement with at least some variety. 4. Approach road is patchy, more so at night, with no street lighting.

Reviewed By anupvshenoyPro: Access to the market and town centre Cons: 1. Very bad service, hardly anybody to attend to your issues/requirements 2. No proper hot water service. They have solar. And have no backup of hot water if the solar doesn't work. 3. Regular electricity power loss in that area. And the owner's stingy to decide that they use Genset only during the night. If you plan to work from there or want to enjoy the AC you paid for, you are in for a big loss. 4. The owner is a Thug. Be careful when you deal with him. He tried to pick up a fight when we questioned a cancellation charge he tried to impose on us for shortening our stay period. He doesn't listen to anything but keeps yelling at the tip of his voice. His staff too laughed at the way he handles and analyses situations. Totally avoidable Property... though it's located at a very nice location, its better to stay at other hotels around for a peaceful and stress free stay.
