An average hotel with no A/C and terrible customer relations.

Reviewed By eunhak2022

We found out there was no A/C running once we unpacked in the room where temp was in the 80’s. When inquired about it, the response was an apologetic statement of ‘it’s not the season for the central A/C to be turned on yet’. An offer of a meager fan and a suggestion of opening the window were made. There was no effort of rectification or other peace offering from the management other than free swimming pool and sauna use. The overnight sleep was not a comfortable one due to lingering heat despite the open window and the fan. They did move the room to a lower floor upon request. It did not make much difference in terms of heat. The first room before the move by the way did not have a shower curtain. Definitely not one of the top hotels we have ever stayed in terms of resources and customer relations.

Decent hotel, staff could be more helpful

Reviewed By apeupres

Location was good, located near the Hanok village and the Jeonju International Film Festival shopping street. Many shops nearby as well. The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfy. However the staff at the front desk are not really conversant in English and it proved difficult to obtain information on visiting tourist sites. The tourist info counter at the Hanok village was more helpful than the hotel staff.

For Jeonju, it is a 4 star

Reviewed By b12roberts

I was torn between a 3 or 4 star but seeing as how Jeonju does not have a ton of nicer hotels this falls into the 4 star category. This place is basic and you get no surprises, good or bad. The hotel has an interesting layout with the lobby on floor 4 with the rooms on floor 4-6. We snagged a room on floor 5 which includes a balcony for some extra room. Pro: 1. Solid location. It is in the middle of a fun street and a ton of food around. Walking distance to many attractions. 2. Bowling on floor 2... which could be a con? 3. Aircon works great and you do not have to be in the room for it to work. 4. Sheets, bed, and bathroom were clean. 5. The balcony was large Con: 1. Room was not the cleanest as there was a sticky substance on the floor when we entered. 2. Bed was hard, which was not terrible but would wear on my if I stayed here for a few nights. 3. Wet bath shower traditional to Korea, but was large and did not get everything wet. 4. The hotel is somewhat dated but they do a good job trying to keep up. 5. Hallways were super dark which is fixable. 6. No fitness center... Made for my morning runs tough but I did find a cool river to run by. 7. I think I could hear the bowling balls banging the floor at night but unsure. Regardless, something was thudding the ground intermittently. Overall, we were happy with the hotel but some controllable things could make it much better. Location is top tier and parking is free. Good food around and walking distance to things you want to do.

Typical and Friendly Hanok Stay

Reviewed By raincitysunshine

The host is friendly, speaks good English, and is welcoming. There is a mini-fridge and a hair dryer. Ondol floor heating worked well. Space heater also provided. Check-in is easy during off hours with a code key. Nice pretty place. Jeonju itself is great and if it is your first time I recommend a guided food and drink tour one evening. Also a must for beer lovers is Nomadic brewing, which has both a main location and a small taproom in the hanok that also serves house-roasted pour-over coffee. Overall a good stay. The reasons I cannot give a full five stars: Like other hanok houses it has a cold, wet bathroom. It would be so nice to just separate the WC and sink from the shower. I would make some other suggestions to the owner to make the place more comfortable: Bath towels. The hand towels provided are not sufficient for bathing. Provide heating in the bathroom. If the floor heating could be extended in there, even better. Shelves or anything to put stuff on besides the top of the minibar. Real cups. The paper cups are tacky and wasteful. The price is high for the level of amenities. Unfortunately there are few (if any) hanok houses with comfy bathrooms and spiffy design elements. That is too bad bc there would be real potential to provide a more upscale experience. I would gladly pay more for it.

It is a modern hotel that is small but comfortable to stay in. The facilities are well managed and very clean, including bedding. The staff's response is active and kind. I hire a car from Inchon airport and drove to Jeonju for one night stay. Not too many hotel to choose from hotel website. Found Lime hotel and it provides free car parking. Not easy to find the hotel and it located in side street off main road. There are lots of bar and night clubs nearby and noises all night making me felt really bad. It is a boutique hotel and no restaurant inside. Room and bathroom are good and clean. The hotel rate is low so I didn't expect much. I wouldn't recommend travellers to stay if you can pay more.

Instrumental part of a lovely Jeonju experience

Reviewed By Alyssa H

While this is one of many hanok accommodations located right within the village (and I definitely recommend staying in the village!), the service was what elevated the experience. I recommend contacting the managers ahead of time (if you don't speak Korean, by looking up choice phrases or getting a Korean-speaking friend to help you) because then they can really help you out. I was able to drop off my luggage in my room before check-in, at which point the manager also gave me a map and guided me through recommended spots to check out. I also let the manager know when I planned to leave, so I met him and he helped me to catch a taxi to get to my next destination. Do have realistic expectations of what you're getting -- it's a traditional style room, so yes, you will be sleeping on the floor! And the rooms are basically for sleeping, so they aren't huge. (There also aren't windows, so if you are claustrophobic, you might also want to reserve up a size.) The bathroom is a combined shower room with a hand-held showerhead. There is breakfast provided is light: toast, apple slices, coffee. But it has solid amenities to support you: wifi, individually-controlled air-conditioning, and shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/towels in the bathroom/shower room. And if you're in Jeonju, you will want to spend your time wandering around and not staying in your room anyhow!

You can do better

Reviewed By Linda R

This hotel is 'just OK' and you could find a better one. I had reserved a room for several days but checked out early. The hotel is grubby and things don't work (like the computers in every room). Although all beds in Korean hotels are hard, this one was as hard as a plank of wood. No one at reception speaks English and although one of us spoke basic Korean, it wasn't enough to get assistance.

Very Cozy and Authentic Hanok stay

Reviewed By Raphael G

This is a very nice and well kept guesthouse located in the Hanok village in Jeonju, which is the traditional Korean house area. If you are looking for an authentic stay this is a great choice. Please be reminded that the traditional korean houses will probably not offer you western style bed, instead they push thin cushions on the floor (heated by the way, what is great!). The guest house is found inside a pretty little alley nearby the river, so away from the crowds. The place itself is very picturesque with Korean wooden sliding doors and beautiful flower trees depending on the season. The owner is very nice and he also prepares the breakfast in a cafe overlooking the river. Simple but delicious. Overall a great place, will definitely go back.
