Best roof bar in town

This is my second time in Flores. Camiba cultural tours recommended this roof bar. I would come here again and again and again. The view is spectacular for sunsets. Tamarindo margaritas are the best. The food ever disappoints. I highly recommend this bar.

A little piece of heaven on Earth

Reviewed By Irene H

Of all our travels, this is one of our favorite hotels. Set in lush foliage, alongside a lagoon, Las Lagunas is home to 20 beautifully appointed cabañas, all with a view. Carefully arranged for maximum privacy, each room has a rain shower with a view, and a terrace with a jacuzzi. The staff is top-notch - each knew our name and did the utmost to make sure we enjoyed our stay. In particular, Elmer, Victor, Alex, and Kendel were amazing. Elmer shared a number of tips about where to go and what to do that helped us see the best of the area. Included in our room rate was a very good breakfast and a 45 minute boat ride on the lagoon where we got to feed the local spider monkeys. We were only here for two nights and definitely wish it was longer. Like the tag line says, it really is “luxury in nature.”

A gorgeous hotel, with caution if you're foreign

Reviewed By seancN1256UD

Amazing hotel, comfortable, friendly staff... Incredible view! ? Working air con (necessary) But... Be careful if you're foreign!!! They told me they were just checking my card on file and going to charge it £0.00 (standard) when they tried to charge me fo the entire room again! Luckily I have a online bank which informs me when someone tried to spend money... Also, I speak Spanish so was able to call him out. The taxi driver from the airport also overcharged me. You can see how much they rely on tourism on this island for money! Finally, when me and two friends were buying beers in the hotel. I asked how much was a bottle of beer. The guy told me 10Q (£1, €1, $1.30) and then his friend quickly saw I was foreign and said "no it's 15Q a beer" to which his friend replied "oh yeah.... 15Q a beer... So it's 45Q instead of 30Q for 3 beers." Of course I didn't argue because it's not too much but the point is that I felt conned. I want others to be very careful of the tourist prices. If you are foreign, even if you don't speak Spanish... They'll try to con you all day long and even lie to your face. Conclusion : This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel which is very clean and has an incredible view! But... PLEASE be careful of them taking advantage if you're foreign ?

Nice location and great staff….

Reviewed By Hauptstadteinwohner

first of all don’t compare this Ramada with other hotels of this chain! The location is very nice on the island in the city of Flores. Easy to walk for food, supermarket and explorations of the city. Our room was spacious, daily cleaning provided, free WiFi, free continental breakfast. The hotel offers two pools. We also booked our Tikal tour and the airport transfer here. Staff was always friendly and answered every question. We had two times one night and another morning No water but this isn’t fault of the hotel because there was simply no water pressure overall on the islands. Would stay here again!

I stayed here overnight for a few days in room 301 and it’s view was drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately I’ve heard that some people mix it up wit Mirador del lago but my mom grew up around Flores and told me mirador del lago was awful. I had a great time! The view was amazing, and the food was the best I’ve ever tasted!!! I couldn’t believe how cheap it was!! The staff was amazingly kind. Love it!!!!

Average stay

The hotel is nice, clean. Dorms are small very difficult to move around with bags when four people in the room. My main reason to write this review however is the taxi service they provide to the airport. I was advised that it was 15Q to the airport. I arrived the short distance and the taxi driver said it was 50Q. Which is ridiculous when you pay 25 coming from the airport. I told the driver that was not what I was quoted and he contacted the hotel who were very unhelpful. He had no English and eventually took out a costing price of 35Q to the airport. Which regardless of the person quoting me the wrong price the hotel are associating with taxi men who are evidently trying to rip tourists off. It’s very disappointing !!

Zapote Tree Inn

We are an inn located in the village of San Miguel, across the lake Peten Itza. Here you will find the lush green of the tropical rain forest, a wealth of historical and archaeological knowledge, and the beautiful culture of San Miguel and its surrounding villages. Our name derives from the love that we have for our Zapote tree, and that is why we built our inn around it. At Zapote Tree Inn, we can offer you a beautiful scenery as we have a beautiful view of the lake and the island of Flores. You can dip in the pool and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. We have many exotic tropical fruits, and if they are in season, you will have the chance to try them. The best of Zapote Tree Inn is not only the establishment, but also its location in San Miguel, Peten. At Zapote Tree Inn, not only are we within walking distance but we are also the closest establishment to: El Mirador of King Canek which is a high point with a 360-degree view that allows you to see the lake, nature, many different kinds of birds, archaeology, all surrounding towns like Santa Elena, San Benito, San Jose, San Andres, San Miguel, the island of Flores, the island of Lepet, the radio station, the zoo, and if lucky you might get to see the family of howler monkeys that reside in the area. This mirador is highly recommended for sunsets. There is also another mirador, a second one that even though it does not possess a 360-degree view, it does have however a very nice view for sunrises. The running trails are very close to the inn, at approximately 3 minutes walking. They are clean inside as we volunteered ourselves every few days to pick up the trash. They are within nature, so running shoes for soil and not asphalt are required. Within the running trails you will find the Tree of Love, which usually has some toucans, parrots or some other birds around. Sometimes the howler monkeys are there if you like running in the early morning. The running trails also take you to the Mayan stelae which are at the main plaza. San Miguel is a town that resides in the peninsula of Tayasal, and it is around an unexcavated Mayan city. If you wish to see how the temples, and buildings look like before they are excavated, then the running trails will take you on a loop where you can witness this for yourself. We are about 20 minutes walking from the beach Chechenal, which has crystal clear water and a really nice temperature. The place is very clean, has bungalows, a dock from which to jump into the water, changing stations and toilet services. They charge Q5 to enter, which is less than $1. You can either walk there, or take a boat if you prefer. We are also within walking distance of: The horse of stone which tells the story of one of our most famous legends. It is located in the center of San Miguel, which is about 5 minutes walking from the inn. We can tell you the legend when you arrive. The museum is about 15 minutes walking from the inn as it is in the opposite side of San Miguel. There you can see many different Mayan artifacts and you can receive a very good explanation from the museum guides. Zapote Tree Inn can be reached by either a boat or a car. The car route can take up to 45 minutes, while the boat only takes 5 minutes to the island of Flores. We recommend the boat ride, over the car ride. Even if you do come in car, then leave the car at Flores, and take the boat across. The boat ride is very short and will be more convenient for your schedule if you are saving time. Plus, boats are fun! The communal boats can be taken at the north side of the island of Flores, and they charge Q5 to cross tourists, which is less than $1. They run from 5 am till 10 pm during weekdays, and till 2 am on weekends. If you need to arrive earlier or leave at a later time, then we can arrange to cross you on our own boat so transportation is never a problem. The places that can be reached by walking, are many, but we also are located close to the island of Flores. A 5 minute boat ride and you can walk the streets of Flores, and come back to enjoy the quiet side of the lake during nighttime. If you want to have a nice time, enjoy the pool with a nice view, take in the nature and appreciate archaeology then come to Zapote Tree Inn. As your hosts we will do our best to give you the best possible time in your stay. We will explain you everything we know of the surroundings. We offer double rooms with a queen and a single bed with private bathrooms, as well as the option of traveler beds for those that travel on a budget. We involve ourselves in community development and promote ecological friendly tourism.

Amazing family style b&b near the jungle

Reviewed By Charlie C

Zapote Tree is the perfect type of place, it is very easily accessible from the main island of Flores by a quick and cheap boat ride. The owners Peter and Yolanda are extremely kind and warm people and arranged everything for me to get there and reach my flight out. Eric who also works there is also a great cook and makes one mean breakfast perfect before trekking out to the jungle or the ruins of Tikal for a long day of walking and climbing. Peter in particular went out of his way to make sure my stay was perfect and that I was taking advantage of all that Flores had to offer. He also has a great personality and you can tell he and everyone else working there take pride in their business and the space. The hotel is also walkable from a beautiful beach and has a nice hiking area right behind it up a hill. Two minutes walking and you are literally in the jungle with howler monkeys walking on the remnants of an old Mayan city. You cant get that anywhere else.
