Our stay at the hotel Sun -Fri last week was fabulous, will definitely go back. Location was great staff were so friendly and helpful especially Rob and Isaac. The Royal Bingo was a hoot. Rob recommended various places to visit which we did and had some great days out. The room was nice and big with comfy chairs and fridge which was a bonus. Thanks again for a great stay. 5 + stars ?

This was my first stay at a bed & breakfast and it far exceeded any expectations. The room was gorgeous and spacious. The options for breakfast were more than plenty. The food was extremely generous portion and delicious! Mel and her husband were delightful. I would recommend this place to anyone who is traveling nearby. It is worth the visit. If I have the chance to visit England again, I will definitely stay here!

Royal Station Hotel

Built in the late 1800’s, the Royal Station Hotel has been a landmark building in the small market town of Carnforth for almost one hundred and fifty years. The hotel has a prominent position on Market Street, directly opposite the historic station, made famous by Oscar-winning director, Sir David Lean’s 1945 film, ‘A Brief Encounter’, considered by many to be one of the most romantic films of all time. Overlooking Warton Crag, the hotel boasts thirteen en-suite bedrooms, ranging from cosy doubles to executive four-posters. The cosy restaurant and quiet bar area offer a selection of traditional, home-cooked dishes, made using local ingredients wherever possible, as well as a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. The large bar to the rear of the Royal Station Hotel, ‘The Junction’, is Carnforth’s premier live music venue, with some of the North-West’s leading bands already lined up to play. The ‘Events’ area of the website will be regularly updated with our line-ups, a

Arranged to meet family who had travelled up from London for a meal at the Station hotel , I recommended we eat here due to having great food on previous occasions. After a wait of an hour we were getting slightly impatient due to no food arriving it was considerably busy. A table in front of us with 4 people received there food which was dishes consisting of 2 sea bass and a lasagne but no fourth meal , we realised obviously the young lad serving had got the tables mixed up . Not a problem really , anyone can make a mistake, however I noticed one dish was taken back to the serving hatch and left under the heat lamps for awhile . When our meals arrived my sister and brother in law weren’t actually impressed with their dishes mainly the vegetables accompanying the sea bass . The lasagne arrived rather burnt with warm salad and coleslaw and bread dried and burnt . I complained and a fresh dish was brought to me . The worst really is knowing original dish was brought to me having been put in front of another customer who had breathed on it

Just returned from a 4 night caravan stay at No 1 Borwick Lakes, booked privately through booking.com. The caravan had nearly everything you needed for a short stay, (no iron or ironing board) but it did include great reliable wifi once we got it working. Nice quiet area, on the opposite side to the main South Lakeland Leisure Village, but within a couple of minutes walk, best to walk through Yealands as they have a pavement right to the leisure village. On-site bar and restaurant was good, busy at weekends, but check opening times before you go, as closed Monday and Tuesday afternoons/evenings. No shop on site, however plenty to choose from in Carnforth which is only a couple of miles away, or the Farm shop up at Greenlands, opposite Longlands Inn/Restaurant (which by the way, is definitely worth a visit) The whole area is ideally situated for visiting many locations, like Arnside, Silverdale, Kirkby Lonsdale to name a few. Plenty of walking options in the area and the 555 Lakes bus stops close by too. Overall, a great stay and we could have easily stayed longer. We would happily stay again, however we may opt for a lodge in the main part of the village overlooking the larger lake if we could get one.

Excellent meeting venue

Reviewed By susanpL1887WZ

We have been going to The County for our dental association meetings for a number of years now, and have never been disappointed. The staff go over and above to be helpful, the room is set out ready and the buffet food is always varied, plentiful and tasty. Great value too. Thank you for being so helpful. Hoping to continue using you as a venue next year. See you in May.
