We have been to other places that state dog friendly .. what they mean is dog tolerant … BUT HERE at Forest park they treat your dogs as guests. From the bowls towels and bed in the rooms with biscuits to the Inn side of the restaurant. The waiters & waitresses all made a fuss and we didn’t feel uncomfortable and just wanting to eat as quickly as poss. The rooms are lovely and the food is brilliant!! The Inn is in the perfect place so you can walk straight out on to the moor land. There is a lovely garden and the service where ever you are is outstanding !! We will be back

Reviewed By Carol vWe were away from home during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations so decided to book the celebratory afternoon tea at The Lodge - Balmer Lawn and it did not disappoint! Our party of 3 adults and 2 children were welcomed warmly and taken to our table. I had received a call in advance to advise of "street party style" shared tables so no surprises there and actually....was a really nice touch! The atmosphere was joyous and full of fun and the afternoon tea was really tasty and generous. The children were allowed to play in the garden, which allowed the adults some time to enjoy the festivities and we then stayed for drinks in the garden until early evening. All the staff were helpful and accommodating to our requests and we will definitely be back when we visit Brockenhurst again. Thank you Balmer Lawn

We used the thermal spa and also had treatments the beauticians are amazing my husband an ld I had a back massage mine was done by a lady called Ann it was the best back massage I have ever had thank you Ann. Then I had a warm honey facial which was also amazing. Thank you ladies.

Deluxe Afternoon Tea for Two
Reviewed By smithie54I took my friend as her birthday treat to The Thatched Cottage Hotel yesterday for Afternoon Tea and we had a wonderful experience. I was so concerned after seeing the recent disappointing review but anyone reading this and considering going, please know our day was perfect. We were greeted as we walked in and asked whether we would like to sit inside or outside. We opted for inside as the weather was unsettled. Our afternoon tea came on a pretty 3-tier display stand. The selection of sandwiches and sweets was described by the waiter. The bread of the sandwiches was very fresh with a choice of lovely thick smoked salmon, egg, ham and cream cheese with cucumber - this range of colours looked attractively displayed on the plate. Sweets were a fruit and a plain scone with us having individual trays holding lots of clotted cream and jam. The scones were slightly warm and tasted fresh - considering this was Sunday and over a long Jubilee Bank Holiday. The other sweets were small pieces of moist carrot cake, rich chocolate brownie and an individual lemon posset topped with granola. We were also offered as much tea and coffee during our time there. Two very satisfied customers who could hardly move after eating the delicious spread. I don’t usually write such a long review and description but to say I was much relieved after reading the very poor recent review is an understatement. The staff were polite and charming and the Gin Flight which they offer was explained with the range of gins on show. For us, this was a lovely afternoon. We too have had lots of afternoon teas but from yesterday’s experience, I would say The Thatched Cottage Hotel rates as one of the best. Thank you very much.

Great Experience at the Rhinefield
Reviewed By Gary TI arranged a surprise night away at the Rhinefield for my Wife's birthday and the whole experience was truly delightful - the service, staff, food and location were absolutely perfect. Booking was easy and on arrival Rianne in reception mentioned we could upgrade our room for just £20. She took the time to show us both rooms, with no pressure and we were very happy to take "Bluebell" the superior room. Our evening meal in the beautiful restaurant was served by a gentleman originally from Romania who was so professional, friendly and attentive. Outstanding service, discreetly delivered!

Reviewed By MsTweedy85Beautiful location, room lovely, however no room for a solo parent and child for dinner which was a huge disappointment after arriving at 6pm after a 3 hour drive with a child and dogs! Room uncomfortably hot and didn’t find the fan in the wardrobe until the morning after, but windows felt very insecure. We were given a lovely garden room on ground level (although very near the pub entrance) and large windows that could be opened wide, which had a latch that would have clearly been accessible from the outside allowing anyone to climb right through!! Sadly, although we were encouraged to upgrade to include breakfast (and pay in advance on arrival!) it was still charged extra and service was a shambles. Table not fully laid, no serving spoons on the buffet, no coffee, no plates, find your own spoons and sugar sachets - good luck!! Lots more training of staff required. All very young and lacking common sense unfortunately. Booked for dogs, but had to chase for the extras, booked for dinner and then wasn’t found a table, booked for breakfast and had to set the table ourselves. Won’t be returning!!

The New Forest, Britain's most popular national park, was created by William the Conqueror in 1079 as a royal hunting area. In 1611, King Charles II chose New Park Manor as his favourite hunting lodge and his royal coat of arms is still displayed prominently above the fireplace in our award-winning Stag Restaurant. New Park Manor was carefully adapted for use as a country house hotel with 25 bedrooms and opened in 1970. Interesting details such as acorns and oak leaf patterned doors and original furniture and fireplaces can still be seen throughout the building. These commemorate the debt owed by King Charles to the oak tree which hid him from Cromwell's men on his escape to France in 1651. Today, New Park Manor is a beautiful, stylish country hotel, where the traditions of days gone by still live on and many original features can still be seen around the hotel. Bedrooms range from the splendor of our Muntjac our signature Family Suite to the contemporary style of our Forest rooms. Over recent years, our facilities have expanded to include a heated outdoor pool, croquet lawn, and our award-winning Spa which included a heated indoor pool and outdoor Canadian hot tub overlooking the New Forest.

Reviewed By M_Lewis31Staff were welcoming and attentive, food was of a good standard, and treatments were amazing. The facilities are very good (lovely pools, terrace etc) and I like the luxury whilst child and dog friendly ethos. I would say the pools are nowhere near as warm as they should be, especially for children and even on a hot day, and the response as to whether this was a temporary issue was confused, and also the changing rooms need a refurb.
