The Wellington Hotel

We're situated in a prime position in Brecon Town Square, within easy reach of the beautiful surrounding Powys countryside and Brecon Beacons National Park. You'll find plenty to do and explore locally. Why not take a leisurely walk along the canal, or maybe a trip on the Dragonfly Barge taking in the stunning scenery. If you fancy an energetic day out, pursuits such as canoeing, mountain-climbing, biking or kayaking can be arranged with Black Mountains Activities, or alternatively you could give Cradoc Golf Club a visit - an excellent club for those golfers amongst you. And of course, in August during the Brecon Jazz festival, the Wellington provide a perfect base for you to enjoy all the musical revelry. Whatever you're looking for, you will find it here in Brecon!

Friendly but lacking that bit of quality

Reviewed By David J

Couldn’t complain about the chap at reception; cheerful, friendly and helpful. The room was small & clean. It was reasonably well appointed - nice to get biscuits. It was rather stuffy overnight, and the bed was rather small compared to most hotels we’ve stayed in. Breakfast was a disappointment. No pancakes, no porridge & no sign (or offer) of a pot of fresh coffee, so I had instant. Toast was delivered to the table with no plates to eat it from. Could have been a lovely place, but seemed to have had an off day or to have let things slip Pity…

Excellent dinner - we where travelling back home and stopped and asked someone where to go for dinner - they recommended this pub and we where not disappointed. Food was excellent, fresh and homemade. Service was also brilliant. It was very busy and the locals where friendly and talkative. I am gluten free and it was very easy to find food on the menu that catered for it. Would definitely recommend and return!

A stunning setting but definitely overpriced

Reviewed By Sian J

Positives - We liked the staff friendliness and helpfulness. The bed was extremely comfortable and our evening meal was delicious. Negatives - There was no attached overhead shower. The spa bath needed to be thoroughly cleaned as when we put the jets on black bits were coming out. There were scuff marks and holes in the room. Needs serious updating. Our breakfast for the 1st morning was abysmal. The waiter took half an hour to acknowledge us and bring us drinks. My partners breakfast was stone cold but we couldn't find the waiter to complain. My eggs Benedict was equally awful with a bitter tasting sauce and rock hard muffins. As breakfast was already prepaid we decided on the 2nd morning to have breakfast again and it was slightly better but nothing special. The room itself had paper thin walls so you could hear every footstep and door slam. Overall, considering the price we paid we expected an excellent breakfast and a good night's sleep but sadly we got neither.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Comfortble, clean and great value for money. This hotel has no pretensions to be a Ritz or Savoy. Good clean rooms at a very reasonable price. We went for a family get together and booked five rooms - nothin g was too much trouble for Wayne and Lynne . We will be returning.
