This is a lovely hotel. I received a very warm and friendly welcome on arrival, and although slightly early, was able to go straight to my room. And what a beautiful room it was! The bedroom was very spacious and perfectly laid out. Large windows made the room bright and welcoming. The bathroom, with full bath and good shower was lovely. I was unable to have dinner there due to staff issues, but the receptionist kindly gave some recommendations, and I found a lovely place to eat. I had a great night's sleep thanks to a very comfortable bed, Breakfast was amazing! I would certainly recommend this hotel, and I definitely intend to return. It is situated opposite a lovely park, and within 10 - 15 minutes walk of Montrose's most beautiful beach.

Hotel is extremely dated & needing a fortune spent on it. Food was average. All staff we came across were pleasant. Beautiful location, wouldn’t return due to the condition of the hotel. Beds were clean & comfortable so has a good enough night sleep. Our 2 night stay wasn’t expensive so I guess you get what you pay for

We very much enjoyed our 3 nights and had such a comfortable bed in Room 7. Having the swimming pool, sauna and steam room worked so well for me and the breakfasts were great. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Edzell is such a lovely location and quite central for accessing many other places. We particularly enjoyed our visit to the House of Dun. Of course a Edzell Golf Course us practically next door which my husband very much enjoyed playing.

Grey Harding’s was a pick out of the blue to stay in Montrose ! Myself & my husband chose somewhere we have not been before for our Wedding Anniversary & New Year and we have had an amazing stay, despite the Restaurant not running & only serving breakfast, which was good, it was a lovely stay. Well situated near the beach, Golf (if you like Golf of course), if you like a walk then a nice stroll along the beach or into town. Due to no restaurant running the hotel were very helpful with local recommendations which was very helpful and due to some restaurants closing over New Year the hotel was happy to provide a table, plates and cutlery for a takeaway. The room was well appointed (no cleaning of room due to COVID policy - no prob for us though) for our 4 night stay, the bathroom & shower modern and very good. The bed very cosy & comfortable and plenty of storage space to unpack for a longer stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated and clean, nice little bar, lounge area and dining area with view over the links. The staff have been very polite, helpful and lovely to talk to and who have made our stay such a lovely one. Well recommended and we will certainly return again, hopefully the restaurant will be up & running by then. There are still things we have not yet visited so we will definitely return. Many thanks to all - Roos Leap and Stroma Restaurants stand out for excellent meals.

We stayed in one of the lodges for three nights because we were invited to a wedding. It was the best thing we could have done!! We were able to arrive on the Friday, to a spotlessly clean lodge complete with sauna and hot tub. We unpacked before having dinner at the hotel. There is wifi throughout the hotel and lodges but the mobile signal is none existent. ## The lodges should have an internal phone linked to the hotel for emergencies. ## Unfortunately, we discovered a blocked toilet and pipe. However, Lee came to our rescue. He was so very helpful. He tried to unblock it himself but to no avail. We were very grateful to Lee and to the local plumber who agreeing to come out and remedy the problem, despite it being a Friday night. Our evening meal was served in the bar. It was very dark and a bit claustrophobic, as we couldn’t see out of a window. As time wore on, the bar became quite busy too. It was not the best atmosphere for dining. Nevertheless, it was freshly made and served piping hot. The menu was a little lack-lustre but it was cooked well and our only real disappointment was that the banana sundae had dried banana chips rather than fresh banana, despite our order being placed days before our arrival. We stayed in the bar after dinner and met up with other wedding guests before retiring to our very warm and comfortable lodge. The beds were very comfortable and we slept soundly. We ate a late breakfast in the lodge before walking to the wedding, at the church, a short distance away. After the church ceremony, we had a very short, up-hill walk to the hotel. We were guided to the marquee where we were treated to wonderful canapés, including the cutest “fish & chips” served in little paper cones. There were various drinks on offer too, including Pims served in China tea cups! There was even an ice-cream man dressed in vintage uniform, serving excellent ice cream with accompaniments. I am not sure how much of this the hotel provided but it worked really well and there was a real buzz in the atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was a rather cold day and the heating in the marquee was not brilliant for guests wearing wedding outfits for spring time, but guests could move into the main hotel for a warm up and a hot cuppa. The dining room was stunning. Staff had made huge efforts to make it look beautiful and we had watched it progress as they set it out and decorated it, from the Friday onwards. There was Champaign on the table and two cocktails with accompanying glasses. It was set out so well and looked beautiful. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. Without fuss, they were careful to ensure that those with allergies were given their correct meal. After the meal, we moved back to the marquee while the dining room was transformed for the party. Although, some of us chose to stay in the bar, where it was much warmer. Nevertheless, it was not long before the room had been transformed and we were able to return to long tables in one half of the large room with the rest of the space available for dancing. Although the seating area was a little bit of a tight squeeze, it was not long before the dancing started and there was more room to move, at the tables. It was lovely to only have a short walk to our lodge, at the end of the night. There we could plunge into the hot tub to relax, before bed and even better to waken in the morning immersed in the Glen, surrounded by countryside, hills and sheep. It was magical to watch the young lambs play while we ate breakfast and fabulous to lie stretched out in the hot tub in the fresh country air and to feel so relaxed in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Staying all weekend meant that we were able to catch up with relatives and friends, on the Sunday, after the wedding. We sent the afternoon together, relaxing and chatting while some guests went walking on the various trails around the hotel or fishing in the local rivers and lochs. We could have cooked dinner, in the lodge’s well equipped kitchen but we chose to eat in the hotel instead. This time we were able to eat in the spacious dining room; which was much bigger and brighter than being in the bar. It was much more pleasant and we enjoyed our meal. I was so impressed with the hard work put in by all of the staff. They provided support for each other throughout our stay, working in synergy to give the best service and without fuss. They must have been exhausted by the end of the weekend! We loved our stay. This is a lovely hotel with a friendly team of staff who clearly know each other well and who work together like clockwork. They are friendly and polite to guests and genuinely did their best to make our stay a special one. As if that wasn’t enough, the hotel is located deep in the picturesque, Angus glens, thus giving a sense of remoteness and freedom. Just make sure to bring everything you need for your stay as the nearest shop is a few miles away. We hope it’s not too long before we can return to this very special hotel.
