Hotel Don Juan Matalbatz is located at 200 meters from Central Park Cobán and only 5 minutes walk from the bus station Monja Blanca. The Hotel offers free parking and free WiFi, tours connections, room service and 24-hour reception. A very good hotel with modern furnished rooms and bathrooms, with breakfast a la carte included and well tasting!. The friendly staff can easy arrange your tours. Among the nearby attractions, is the Church "El Calvario" with its 137 steps and National Park "Las Victorias", and less than 2 km from the mall "Plaza Magdalena". A few blocks from the buses that goes to "Orquigonia (orchid sanctuary)", and as well a few blocks from the buses to "Semuc Champey".

The hotel is located in a quite busy commercial street (Mini-stores, pharmacy, etc.) in downtown Coban. The Hotel sign is small, we missed it once by passing by it. Recommend: get the rooms that don’t fase the street. We did and had no noise and slept well. The hotel is conveniently located 2-3 blocks away from a supermarket (Big mall); and also within walking distance from truly tasty restaurants. The inclusive breakfasts are great delicious portions (Kitchen staff always with a smile to greet you and very helpful when customizing my kids breakfast). Rooms are spacey, super clean and knit. From beds, sheets, showers and toilette. They only provide a small soap and Shampoo blister (willing to hand you an extra if needed). Towels could benefit from an upgrade (we brought our own). They were remodeling, which would’ve been nice to know in advance (We found out as we arrived). Nonetheless, our stay was not affected by this. No sleeping or dust worries. We spent much of the day outdoors/sightseeing). Did not have a chance to try their lunch or dinner options. We definitely will come back to this hotel when coming back to Coban.

Reviewed By Joanna_Poland24Very comfortable hostel beautifully located in the middle of a jungle around 9km from Semuc. The single rooms I stayed in were really spacious and super clean with just enough facilities to store all the stuff. The drawback for me was a lack of kitchen where you could prepare some food for yourself (the hostel does not provide breakfast yet there is an on-site restaurant where you can buy it) and the very size of the place - it’s quite huge which means quite a bit of noise at night (still I was there during Semana Santa thus for sure it was incomparably more crowded than usually). But all depends on the preferences.

We are an Eco-Hostel located a few meters of the National Park Semuc Champey, the caves of Water (K'amb'a) and the majestic River Cahabon. We offer a variety of options to stay in the midst of nature that offers incomparable peace. We have the best options to take tours with the best prices.

Reviewed By 314botGood location, howeever a few negative points. 1:Rooms are small and cleaning is not great. 2: The cabins are not private so we could hear our neighbors snoring. 3: It was raining through our roof, so the whole room was quite soggy. 4: No extra blankets so it was quite cold. 5: Food was overpriced and not great, fries were good though. 1 night was more than enough, I recommend finding somewhere else and just come for the park.

Our Hotel has 8 suites in a contemporary style complex, 4 comfortable apartments made to enjoy in family. Our Junior suite includes kitchenette and dinning area. The presidential suite with 2 levels and sauna. all rooms have spectaculare views. In the restaurant we offer a variety of German and Guatemalan menues. At the hotel you will appreciate the different the different kind of animals and flowers of the region. Have fun and relax at the various facilities such as the infinity pool, the temazcal, gym and children park.

Reviewed By AnbyirWe ask in recepción for raid, to kill not one or 10, at least 40 inscets in the room and they did not help us, it can be pretty but if they can not help the client it is not worse the price! Preguntamos en recepción si nos podían dar raid, para matar no uno ni 10 zancudos, al menos 40 zancudos en la habitación y no nos quisieron ayudar, puede ser bonito pero terrible servicio al cliente, en especial en recepción. Capaciten a su personal!

Ch'i Bocol Community Hostel is located in a very remote place that requires a 30 minute hike to get to (guide provided). The hostel operates on solar power, and has fruits and vegetables growing on site. It features one of the only community kitchen in the Lanquin / Semuc Champey area, and the property is right on the river, with a waterfall, pool, and beaches nearby.
Way less than expected

But I got disappointed: It started with a hell ride on the back of a truck, driven by people who were drunk way to fast. The hostel is not very clean, and the wifi is poor (I just could connect during the night when no one was using it). The stuff is unsafe in the rooms - so it’s not a good feeling to have to care about the valuables all the time and carry them with you. On the bright side: The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The activities were great!

I asked for two single rooms, expecting the kind of rooms that I am used to, but when they show us the rooms, those rooms where like half of a room. It was really hot and it doesn't have any place to work in it. But even worst the price was the same...

Reviewed By AndresR10Would not look me in the eyes when requesting an upgrade. Made me wait 20 mins during check in process, with no other guests in line. Requested upgrade and was willing to pay for it, but she wanted to charge an extra 100Q in addition to the upgrade cost. Lady would not answer my questions whatsover. Did not feel welcome. First and last time staying here.

Beautiful cozy place to stay
Reviewed By Avinash UI stayed at this hotel during my visit to Semuc champey. We stopped at Coban at this hotel for the night. Beuatiful ambience and gives you the traditional guatemalan feel. Nice little cozy rooms. Dorms are availalbe as well. Very friendly staff and a musuclar friendly dog as well! A healthy breakfast was served for us as well the next morning. Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if in Coban, Guatemala.
