Excellent room, welcoming hosts
Reviewed By Elle JHot off the ferry from Chora Sfakion, we needed a room for two nights and thought Calypso looked promising. We were welcomed warmly and shown a room. We knew immediately that Calypso was perfect for us - very clean, comfy bed and a shady balcony for enjoying the sea view. Two days later after great walks up the gorge and to the castle, great local food and wonderful swims, we didn’t want to leave, so we stayed 2 more! Air con was great but even better was sleeping with it off by the light of the moon and stars, listening to the sigh of the waves on the beach below. We will be back next year. Thank you for the warm welcome, fresh and tasty food, the lovely room, advice on walks and some fantastic lyre playing in the evening. Calypso is so correctly named - we felt like Odysseus so content with Calypso that he didn’t want to home.

Close to the Beach Location is Good
Reviewed By LefkoseikosAn average Greek hotel, for a so-called superior room with a sea view (slightly obstructed by the restaurant building in front) it was reasonably basic. It was clean but the beds were hard. The staff (single member) was very friendly and helpful. There was no hot water in the shower although possibly in the summer that is not so important, the shower head pipe was leaking but was fixed within a day. A plus point was the breakfast that was very good

Reviewed By harry pwe spent a lovely holiday at the family run - Gigilos hotel for 4 nights end of August 2021 as a family of 4. It is in a wonderful location right on the best beach, with free for its guests sunbeds! The hotel was very clean, well-maintained, with very confortable rooms. The view from the room was breathtaking, overlooking the beach and the small port. In the restaurant they serve great breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide variety of local products and good quality. Anything you decide to order tastes delicious! Staff that is always polite, very helpful and friendly. It is excellent for couples, families and children, and also pet friendly ! great value for money we will for sure come back again and again!

Reviewed By Eclair1951I had been to Agia Roumeli previously after hiking the gorge and I decided to come back and stay a bit longer. I chose Artemis Studios online as it offered a self-catering option. I was thrilled with my studio as it had an excellent small kitchen, large living area, two balconies, good bathroom, and a delightful mezzanine bedroom with a double bed and a single. It also had a sofa bed downstairs. This is definitely a good place to stay longer and enjoy the wonderful beach and hiking of Agia Roumeli. Very handy to the beach and restaurants but quiet as well.

Reviewed By Greg WThe owner Prokopis enjoys joking and talking with visitors - in the three days we were there I saw him help 3 different people with travel advice and even cash advances, including in basic German. One day I mentioned we might hire a kayak; a little later he told me maybe have a rest today as there might be a storm this afternoon. And Georgia answered our more complicated questions about Greece in perfect english. Thanks to you both for a memorable stay. PS Agia Roumeli is a great place to stay, not just to catch the ferry after Samaria. Good food (esp. Pachnes), nice beach, great walk to the Turkish fortress/castle above the town, amazing free beachfront campsite too :-)

Reviewed By Robert CFriendly staff showed me there menu and showed me all the fresh fish they had just caught that morning. I was able to pick out my own fish and the friendly staff were very helpful throughout my meal. Big portions at good prices! Would recommend if closeby.

Reviewed By Maggi GMost accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable owners. Rooms looking out over the Lybian Sea! Super comfortable accommodations, extensive menu right on the patio. After hiking the Gorge, we couldn’t have asked for a more welcome place to rest. Treat yourself to a night here after your hike. It’s so affordable, you’ll be grateful for the pause.

Reviewed By Tina CThe rooms are basic and clean. The balcony was very nice and the wifi worked well. All locations are good in Agia Roumeli since the town is so small. Unfortunately, there was no hot water and when we asked about it / mentioned it the owners said they were surprised and didn't know what happened. We had two rooms and it didn't work for either. That being said, it was 30 euros/night per person so it wasn't terribly surprising. Otherwise, reasonable place to spend a night for our purposes and the staff was nice and flexible.
