Very good experience.

It was my first time in a hostel. And it was a really good experience. The owner is really nice, as are everyone working there. The bed is more like a "Mini-Appartement", which is great. The good and free breakfast is definitely a great thing. Everything es very clean and the hostel is near a busstop and the city center. I would definitely recommend it and come back.

Ostello della Gioventu - Il Castello

Set within a fantastic Castle Bornonico, the Youth Hostel "The Castle", offers accommodation in family / double and multiple rooms with bunk beds. All rooms have private bathrooms. We are seconds away from the beautiful Cathedral Basilica today. The Hostel offers the possibility of a tan within a beautiful natural solarium, all golden stone of Noto! See you there!

High quality in a great position- worth seeking out

Reviewed By Jon_Janet

We chose this accommodation for its proximity to the main street in Noto: a set of steps next to the hostel leads directly into the heart of the city with good access to the Cathedral, other main sights and the bars and restaurants. Particularly when returning after an evening in a restaurant, you need to be fairly fit to use the steps but this is an antidote to the good food that you can find. Bear in mind that this is a hostel, but one in an interesting old building with marble floors and great views over Noto. There is a mix of private accommodation and dormitories with their own bathroom and shower. Our room for two was huge with a comfortable bed; it was clean and well maintained. The reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful with advice on parking and where to visit in the town. Wi-Fi was available in and near the lobby and there was a decent continental breakfast thrown in. You can bring a car and park outside or nearby if you can find a spot: ask reception to find the parking spots. Our only downside was that our Satnav had difficulty locating the entrance from the address. Perhaps a better location indicator would help. But we did get there and can recommend it. Highly recommended providing good value for money.

OUTSTANDING place, beyond AWESOME

Reviewed By Dayworker

This is, without doubt, the best hostel in Sicilia and Italia...The staff alone, are the sweetest, friendliest and most helpful, that u will ever find...The free breakfast on the sun terrace, on the best piazza in Catania, is better quality and quantity than any cafe...the free pasta in the evening, with everyone together is awesome..the rooms are spotlessly clean, with Ac, clean bathrooms, privacy beds etc etc...I extended because my experience was sooo good, like everyone else's, that I didn't want to leave...I salute the owner for creating a near perfect oasis for backpackers...and I got to clean 2 weeks of dirty laundry for €3....This place is HEAVEN

Great location in Catania

Reviewed By C0lleenD

The accommodation / room was clean and spacious. It was basic but comfortable, but I would not call it luxurious. We were looking for budget accommodation so this suited us. The breakfast was a continental breakfast - croissants, yoghurts, cheese etc. Guiliana was very pleasant and helpful.

We stayed in private room but didn’t hear anyone complain about the shared rooms. Perfect location. Really easy to get to markets and cool stuff nearby. Also lots of nice people there.

Hostel hospitality at jts best

Reviewed By DaisyFay19

Set in a former hotel, this is a very stylish and beautiful building. Our spacious, ensuite room had lots of quirky features and a very comfortable bed. Although close to the road, it was very quiet at night. The weather wasn't really conducive to sitting outside, which was a pity, as there's a lovely sun terrace overlooking the valley of Ragusa Ibla. The well-equipped kitchen is useful, if you need to make a drink or try cooking with some of the wonderful local produce. However what makes this place special, is Eugenio. He's incredibly passionate about Sicily and has a vast knowledge, which he is keen to share. He was really helpful, providing us with ideas and information. All his recommendations were flawless; from the superb pizza restaurant nearby to the gelato cafe and the day trip suggestion to Marina di Ragusa. He is a wonderful warm and funny person and made our stay very memorable. We highly recommend staying here. Grazie Mille!

Hi Hostel

Hi Hostel is the first high class Youth Hostel located in Ragusa.Hi Hostel is just 3 minutes walking from the main Bus Station, a really good option for the guest who would like to discover and enjoy this City. The wi-fi iss free in all rooms and in the public areas. Hi Hostel makes at your complete disposal a living room with oven, microwave, fridge, television and a library.

More a shared apartment rather than a true hostel.

Reviewed By Chilled-outTraveller

Hi Hostel is located in the top floor (3rd) of a residential block in the outskirts of Ragusa Superior about 600 metres from Zama Coach station. Everything is new and modern inside and consists of 2 rooms with 8 bunks + 6 bunks = 14 in total. There is 1 shower, 1 WC, and 1 wash-hand basin, all in the 1 shower room. If hostel were to be busy this would cause congestion in morning but when I was there there were only 2 of us, so it was not a problem for me. If arriving by train into Ragusa Central then this hostel is probably too far to walk, 1.7km (?), and so either get a local bus ( no 33) to Zama Bus station and then walk, 600 metres, or get a 10 euro taxi from train station. Arrival by intercity bus to Zama Bus Station is probably best. Hostel is not that easy to find for 1st time without clear directions from reception staff who attend from 0800-2000 hrs in normal hrs. If you arrive after 2000 hrs and before 2400 hrs they will charge you 20 euros extra and 30 euros extra if after 2400 hrs. Hostel is only staffed to cover arriving & departing guests so best to book ahead and not roll up unannounced. They will ask you to sign an rules of occupation sheet which includes no drinking alcohol, no gambling, no smoking inside and no drying of clothes inside hostel --there is a large balcony with an open aspect where smoking and drying of clothes will not be an issue. No noise allowed between 2300 and 0700 hrs to cover the fact this hostel is located in an apartment block with other nearby residents. The surrounding area is residential with the nearest cafe/bar is at Zama Bus station where there are a few shops also, none of which open late. There is a discount supermarket in the other direction, about 300 metres away and it only opens Monday to Saturday. There is a kitchen for self catering with cutlery, pots and pans but no kettle. The fridge was stocked with bottles of water and soft drinks which are charged out at 1 euro each, use of lockers are chargeable @ 2 euros for a key to open padlock on the locked lockers, bike hire @ 10 euros per day, Colour TV with a two seat sofa and about 12 chairs and a large table are in the lounge/kitchen area where there is also a CCTV camera, presumably to monitor guest's behaviour outside staffing hours. This seems normal in common areas of most hostels and B&Bs I visited in Sicily this trip, although in this hostel I did not see the obligatory advisory sign that a CCTV camera was in use. Breakfast, costing 3 euros, consisted of Chocolate or Plain Cornflakes with either an expresso coffee from an small expresso machine or a choice of various teas..... hot water for the tea at time of my visit had to be boiled in an open pan as no kettle was available. Probably better to go to a cafe for a croissant and hot drink. You are given a free chilled bottle of water on arrival, which is most welcome. Daily price for this hostel was cheap but reflected its remoteness if dependent on local buses in the evenings ( stop at 2100/2130 hrs ??), but fine if you have a car or bike. There is plenty of parking available. Not much atmosphere in hostel, especially with only 2 guests during my October visit. As I said in my review heading this is more a shared apartment than a traditional hostel. ================================================================== Ragusa Ibla ( lower and older part of town ) is very picturesque and interesting but do not walk up the hairpin bends/steps between thetwo parts of town as the No 33 bus will make it a lot easier for 1.20 euros.
