10 Top-Rated Hostels hotel in Cyclades, South Aegean

April 28, 2023 Darleen Reid

The Cyclades is a group of Greek islands with beautiful, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains and lush valleys. Glamorous Santorini and Mykonos attract the jetset, while lesser-known isles, such as Milos and Naxos, are the perfect places for beach lovers. Ruins, including the 11th-century Dorian settlement and volcanic ash-preserved Ancient Akrotiri in Santorini, amaze those with a bent for ancient history. Sifnos' cuisine wins it admirers. Hydrofoils, ferries and catamarans connect the islands.

Luxury Accommodation in Imerovigli

Couples break

Reviewed By VET06

This hotel had opened only 5 weeks when we arrived. Everything is brand new. The staff are very accommodating. Our room had a private swimming pool (small) so slightly over exaggerated but it was larger than most of the plunge pools and our room had more privacy. Very modern and nothing in the room was missing in terms of amenities. Maybe more water and more toiletries daily would help but you only had to ask. I personally found the room a little too bright for sleeping but this was quickly resolved. The main pool area is lovely yet small however that was ok for us. It was however missing some atmosphere, so some music would be recommended as the music playing wasn’t noticed. They have some great pool beds/loungers but they lack the recline option to sit upright if you want to read. The same goes for those in the rooms. The gym is good but with the big TV screens they could run on demand virtual classes like for running or kettlebells. Breakfast was included and had nice fresh fruit, juices and hot options. We ate out on the evenings. The hotel is fabulous for privacy and avoiding the constant photo taking of the sunsets and fabulous views as it is located slightly down the hill from Imerovigli but literally a few minutes walk up hill. Yep uphill but everywhere in Santorini is uphill so flats are a must even when you are dressed up on a night out. The hotel view is facing East of the island and less than 10 mins from the airport, so a private transfer price of 60 euros is too steep, we paid 30 returning but even that is too much. Recommendations are to hire a ATV for around 45 euros per day and explore the island. Oia is beautiful and has the most shops. Overall I’d rather be staying at this hotel in terms of privacy, location and comfort. Staff all very helpful and I am sure as the hotel matures so too will it develop with more ideas to make your stay even better.

Carlos Pansion

In the Southwest corner of the majestic island of Santorini, you will find Pansion Carlos nestled in the heart of traditional Akrotiri, located 10 km from Fira, 8 km from the main port and only 12 km from the airport. Many travelers will find the relative peace and quiet of Akrotiri a refreshing break from the excitement and crowds of the more northern towns, but easy access to busses, car and moto rentals, and boat excursions leaves the island entirely within your reach. A charming town with clear traditional roots, Akrotiri blends the history of a hilltop Byzantine castle with traditional Santorini architecture. Clusters of whitewashed, blue-shuttered houses line the walk from Pansion Carlos up the hill to breathtaking and unique views of the island and its volcanoes. The town itself is situated above the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri, one of the most important archaelogical sites in the world. The friendly locals and intimate feel of Akrotiri make it the perfect vacation destination for families, couples, and lone travelers who wish to have a relaxing trip to Greece.

The family that runs this hotel made us feel more welcome than any other place before! The hotel; - very good and cheap transfer options - nice clean rooms with a santorini-feel - small private terrace with light. - easy communication and very flexible! - cheap and tasty breakfast, with homemade bread, pie and marmelade. - netflix and tv-channels The family; - the grandmother of the family made the breakfast, and she took time to tell us about her family history and her tomato farm. She also gifted us some marmelade because she noticed us liking it so much. - Carlos drove us to the lighthouse for a nice sunset view, and also drove us to Oia, because we spend the last part of our holiday there. He was so very nice to talk to! - Rose Carlos' partner was honest about restaurant options, she helped us rent an ATV and she made sure we had all of our transfers etc. Sorted out. She also offered us the cheepest private transfer options we could find! - the dog at and the cat was well groomed and well raised ;) so we had to opportunity to pet them and to avoid them as well. The southern part of the island; We spend the first part in Akrotiri and the second part in Oia. The southern part is very easy to navigate by ATV or scooter. The black beaches have lovely views and nice sand. We also visited the ancient ruins (santorini Pompeii) and the lighthouse. You get to see the wine fields and enjoy the view of the caldera from a different angle. We also drove to the heart of santorini and the highest point of the island as well. I would definitely recommend spending a couple of days on the southern part of the island and on this hotel! Carlos and his family had no hard feelings with us going to Oia, and they even gave us a book of Santorini and a couple of postcards to bring with us. I hope we get the chance to return :)

I was ROBBED ON MY OWN FACE

Reviewed By Sebastian S

My Name is Sebastian Sanchez. I reserved a double bed for two nights at this Hostal and payed it with my credit card, the reservation was confirmed but for covid reasons we could not take the trip, the hostal said that they would not give us a refund because we could reschedule our stay. We have been trying to contact them around 8 times to reschedule but the customer service is the worst, besides the manager seems like just don't wants to help because the manager answered one email asking for the reservation number but never answered again. IN OTHER WORDS THEY JUST ROBBED US IN OUR OWN FACE. If you decide to stay here watch out for your stuff and don't pay with credit card because in case there is any issue they won't refund you even if they say they will, THEY WILL JUST KEEP THE MONEY.

Great stay in Galissas!

Reviewed By Wax-Retribate

We very much enjoyed our stay here at Peter & Tony's rooms. As already mentioned on here, rooms are simple, but functional. Tony was an incredibly hospitable host and went above and beyond should we have had any requests - for example, organising a taxi for us at 6am to get to the port. It's very close to Galissas beach and you can take the bus to other beach destinations close by. Breakfast is plentiful and you get a choice of anything they make on offer. In short, I would highly recommend Peter & Tony's rooms to anyone considering staying in the Galissas area on a budget! ??

Magical hostel

Just a few minutes away from Batsi harbor tucked away in a little paradise of (lemon) trees . Short walk away from several beaches and a few minutes away from the local bus stop. But what makes Lemon Tree really special is the owner, Miltos. Super friendly and helpful. Always very aware of each guest, Miltos takes time to give great tips tailored to the individual interest so that each guest can have the best time and make the most of Andros. Hospitality and chilled hostel atmosphere at its best!
