The property was once a warehouse for almonds, it then became a holiday home in the early 60s before becoming a boutique accommodation in 2013. Through careful restoration La Scibina has managed to transform itself into a functional and elegant residence, equipped with all the comforts and services that a demanding and selective guest requires. Welcome to Sicily, welcome to La Scibina.

Still perfect

My wife and I have visited 7 years in a row, except for the covid 18 months. We have never visited any hotel or holiday hotel more than twice in a row. Each time we have been we have met other people who are returning and they all feel the same - the hotel is perfect. We have stayed in various apartments. We have enjoyed every part in which we have stayed. It is a small boutique hotel. Due to its clever design you can book anything from one room with ensuite and small balcony to 3 bedrooms, lounge small kitchen and patio. The rooms are clean and well designed. The pool is lovely. The staff are great.

A gem. A haven.

This small but surprising hotel is on the outskirts of Ragusa. Its run by an efficient lady called Roberta. The decor is minimalist but outstanding. What is truly outstanding is its cleanliness, its breakfast and the welcome afforded by Roberta and her staff. The rooms and the beds are very comfortable. Its clear that money has been spent to make guests feel as much at home as possible. Truly a great find and would recommend to anybody visiting the Ragusano. Will come again.... and again.... and again....

New Management and Great Host

Reviewed By T4842PY

We stayed two nights in two apartments. Good central location on a quiet square and very near the botanical garden. Christina was so helpful, making many helpful suggestions. She treated us like important guests and made us feel welcome. She even offered to help us with a shipping problem we had. We understand the property is under her new management, and she has completely improved the property. Nice terrace and balcony on two of the apartments, plenty of hot water, and thoughtful things like coffee, olive oil, and comfortable beds. Not all hosts are as caring and thoughtful as Christina. We recommend this property and wish her well.

Great location!

Reviewed By Candace M

My husband and I recently rented the downstairs room. The space is nicely decorated, clean and inviting. We visited in June and didn’t have to use the air conditioner. Only two minor issues: the hot water didn’t stay warm enough for two showers in the AM and it was very humid/damp in the bedroom (which may be expected given the location is the bedroom). The breakfast includes coffee, yogurt, fruit and croissants. The host is very welcoming and inviting and even helps to arrange taxis and things upon departure! We overall very much enjoyed this B&B as it was nicely located.

ECCEZIONALE

Reviewed By SuperLety

C’è parcheggio in abbondanza.

Masseria Sant'Elia is composed by 5 independent apartments. Each apartment is comfortably furnished and is equipped with the most modern facilities and services (heating, autonomous air-conditioning, television, and free WiFi Internet access). The garden offers extra relaxing possibilities by the swimming pool (14x7 m, without lifeguard) with a large solarium. Each apartment can use the veranda and/or the courtyard for lunches and dinners outdoors. There is also a large parking area at disposal for our guests. La Masseria Sant'Elia is geographically well situated for excursions to renowned archaeological sites, to uncontaminated natural reserves, and to some of the most beautiful beaches of South-Eastern Sicily.

Accomodation during December 2017

Reviewed By FamilyVella

Would personally like to thank Giordano for making our stay at Masseria Sant' Elia very comfortable and welcoming. Although the weather outside was very cold in December the place was very warm and comfy, very clean, well maintained and fully equipped. This is a very nice place with an outside terrace and pool (to be used during summer). Giordano gave us some very good advise about the surroundings and all the place of interest that we could visit (including a map). Looking forward to visit this place again in the near future. Thank you Giordano from Family Vella (Malta)

Personale vergognoso

Reviewed By Andrea B

Perfect location for exploring Ragusa and surrounding area

We just had a fab 10 days in October staying in the Amber apartment which was very well presented. With interesting features such as the watercolour pictures, stone wall and designer table and bar stools. Located just off Via Roma with bars, cafes and designer shops where the locals like to take their evening stroll, chat and drink coffee. The main piazza, Duomo, tourist info, grocery shops, bakeries and a supermarket all within a few minutes walk. Una and Santi welcomed us very warmly and invited us to have lunch with them. They showed us where to park for free and had plenty of suggestions of what to do and see. A folder was provided packed full of interesting days days out, maps and other info. Beach towels and a parasol were also provided. The apartment was good value for money and I will recommend to my friends

Well kept but

Reviewed By Sil2007

We spent three nights at Risveglio Barocco, Via San Vito flat. The little apartment is nicely renovated and all facilities work properly. Also the bathroom is nicely redone and there is even a washing machine. Overall we think it can be a good accommodation, especially if you need to spend time in Ragusa main town. Our rating depends on some aspects which made our stay no more than acceptable. Firstly, the flat is a basement and since we entered the property a smell of humidity accompanied us the whole stay. The management was readily available to provide a dehumidifier, which however did nothing but reducing the smell. We are not sure of the reason but it could easily relate to some poor structural isolation. Secondly, the rooms are separated by a glass structure and not real walls. This makes light isolation of the room limited, as lights in a room or kitchen would shed light on the other room. Thirdly, there are no real windows in the flat, apart from the entrance door. this makes it only a place to sleep and not chill out. Finally car parking is horrible in the area due to restrictions, and with a baby it could be an issue. Management has not provided any pass or offered some special arrangement with local parking, but we do not know whether this would be possible.

we stayed in an apartment and out host could not have been kinder, even arranging out taxi for the day we left. The place was well equipped, well located and spotless and came with maps and eating suggestions and activity recommendations. If all you are interested in is Ragusa Ibla this may not be the ideal place but if you want self catering and to see a bit of everyday life this is just perfect. We loved every minute (even the walk up the hill!)
