10 Top-Rated Campgrounds in Western Cape

May 14, 2023 Tynisha Seiler

South Africa’s most popular tourist destination offers the urban thrills of Cape Town, its adjacent wine country and an aura of the rich political history of South Africa. The Overberg's perfect whale-watching perches provide excitement of a different nature. The Garden Route's lakes and forests and the Klein Karoo's ostrich-farming towns and vineyards present another take on the Cape. For extra kicks, try bungee jumping or cage-diving among Great Whites.

Visited Inverdoorn in May 2022 during our stay in Cape Town. We had such a wonderful experience. We stayed at Khughana (5 star tent). We saw all the big 5 animals but best of all - our pool got a daily visit by the elephants (using it as a water hole). ? above expectations!!! We went on all game drives offered and also on the late night drive seeing the beautiful star heaven. If you go - don’t miss this. The star heaven is so clear and spectacular. The food was great! Best of all - the barbecue that the rangers made for us the last night. Loved it! A big thank you ? from Sweden ??

More luxorious than the Radison

As a couple seeking rest and recuperation, this stay was perfect. The host made every detail utterly special. From the neatly packed breakfast and braai baskets to being on call the whole weekend to assist us with extra firewood and firelighters. Thanks Tash, for all your effort! 10/10 do recommend the food baskets - the portion size is decent, declicious and made the getaway effortless. It's also noteworthy that this stay is perfect for winter getaways. We soaked in the hot tub the whole day till late then cuddled in front of the fireplace at night. Very cozy! Inside was very neat, clean, and well kitted. They think of everything you might need. Also good to know that they encourage green living as there was a tin for contributing to the compost heap. We return home with a full and rested heart - can't wait to return!

What a peaceful time away

Reviewed By sturner133

We found it to be a very charming get away, with a gracious hostess. It was so much more than we expected. The accommodation has all the necessary utensils and crockery. All we needed to take on the trip was our food, cloths and a hot tub towel. There was wood for the oh so wonderful hot tub and fire to BBQ, they even had fire starters and matchers. The farm animals are quite a treat as well. We will definitely be going back for a visit.

What a magical experience, Returning to Cape Town we stopped over for a night. Looking for something different we decided to try Africamps out. Everything you could have wished for was catered for in the camp. The dam was beautiful and a few of us swam. How refreshing, the vistas were spectacular as you looked down the valley and up against the far mountain. The tent was warm the water pressure brilliant and the indoor fire place very cozy indeed. I will certainly return, perhaps a new one in KZN will call my name.
