I just stayed here for one night and i would say its really an amazing and pleasant say in Tea Dale. The Owner Mr.Kaniraj & Staff Mr.Muthu are really humble and polite with a lovely attitude. They both called me before I could check in and inquired about my arrival time and provided me route information to reach their property. They even guided me with information and gave guidance to visit places in Munnar. They have good parking facility too for two wheeler as well as for car. The property is situated just next to tea plantation and is about 4.5 Km from Munnar town and can be reached by Tuk Tuk easily Rs.100. Cleanliness : 10/10 Food Quality : 10/10 Property Location:10/10 Staff Behavior: 10/10 You can just close your eyes and make your reservation at Tea Dale. Food was really tasty and delicious, we had Chapathi with Veg curry. Complimentary breakfast was softy and pluffy Idli and Dosa with Onion Chilli chutney ,Sambar, Coconut chutney it was soo delicious and high quality too. We really felt like eating in our home. Hot Coffee was really superb. The tiny restaurant has lovely tea planation views to enjoy and have your breakfast. They even prepared us Maggie noodles and boiled eggs as we requested. Bathroom is spacious and prick and clean . 24 Hrs Hot water. Beds are very comfy. The Balcony is well maintained with flowering plants with Sit out table and Chair. The Bedroom views of tea planation is amazing The Owner Mr.Kaniraj is a down to earth person we really had a lovable conversation , when we checked oud he and Muthu even came out to send us off. Hospitality of Tea Dale is really amazing. We walked inside tea plantation behind which was soo refreshing and rejuvenating in the morning listening to the chirping sounds of birds. Pothamaedu View point is a short walk from the property. There are 4 tiny Kirana Grocery shops for our basic needs and a small hotel serving basic dishes. They are even organizing treks , camps, jeep safari, Muthu is an amazing guide who knows information about everything. I will definitely recommend Tea Dale , and will stay again.

Average place... Property not maintained properly but ambience and location is 5/5 stars

Reviewed By Tony J

I stayed at Orion County with my family on 25 sep - 26 sep. It was a single bedroom separate cottage located at the cliff side. The location, weather and ambience of the property was 5/5 stars but the property was not maintained properly. The bathrooms were not clean, the bedsheets and pillow covers in the bedroom were not looking clean. The living room balcony had a very nice view of the lake and since this was located on the cliff side, the view was simply breathtaking. The food served at the reception was not good. The cable TV wasn't working as it said the smart card had some errors. There are other brand new cottages at Orion County and I think I should have seen the cottage first before taking it. Hope Orion County management can Take more care in maintaining the properties.

Birders Den Camps

Beautiful Campsite with Stunning Views and Incredible Staff

Reviewed By LalaUSA2018

My family and I spent 3 nights at the Birder's Den camp in early February 2019. We are a family of 2 adults and 5 children from the US traveling the world, and we knew we wanted to stop in the Munnar area of Kerala. This is a stunning campsite- you feel as though you're on top of the world. You are on a mountain top with various leveled-off areas to set up tents. The Birder's Den camp staff take care of every aspect of your stay: tent set up, soft mattresses, food, and overseeing various activities during the day and at night. Anu and Vishrag were our guides during our time at the camp. These guys are affable and knowledgeable about local plants, wildlife (birds, in particular) and the local life of the villagers. They took us for a hike in the neighborhood, seeing the many plants and trees that grow in the area, such as peppercorn, nutmeg, cassava, sandalwood, mango, ponderosa lemons, bananas, coconut, and ginger, just to name a few varieties of plants growing in the lush landscape. For our second day, we went on a shikara boat ride on the Periyar river. There, we learned about the wildlife that frequents the river, such as elephants, bison, and birds. We saw plenty of birds on our boat ride, some elephant dung, but unfortunately, we did not see wild elephants. On this boat, we received fresh coconuts to drink and eat and fresh pineapple. Vishrag, our guide, arranged for us to have take away chicken fried rice for lunch, which we picked up for a restaurant on the side of the river that we pulled up to. The captain pulled over for us to eat our lunch and to enjoy a swim on a hot day in Kerala. The food here is fresh and delicious. There is a variety of Keralan dishes for breakfast as well as porridge and toast, at our request, for the kids. Hot coffee, tea and hot water is available. Fresh fruit was offered at each meal. The eating hut is open air with a roof overhead, so it's a great open space that protects you from any inclement weather. The bathrooms, which have toilets, showers, and sinks, are clean and not too far from the campsite. During the evenings, our guides lit a campfire for us. One night, we enjoyed an evening of singing around the fire with our guitar, as well as singing karaoke songs with the speaker and microphone provided by the site. The views here are spectacular. There are mountaintop viewing areas for both the sunrise and the sunset, not far from the site. Since it is on the mountaintop, it is not the most convenient place to get to, but it is well worth it. Note that you may have to hire a driver during the time that you stay here in order to take you around Munnar. We needed a driver for our full 3 days here to take us to the river and also on a small tour of the tea plantations in Munnar. (the driver drove us in from Kochi and drove us back to Kochi after our 3 days here) Overall, these guys took care of our every need from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We couldn't have felt more taken care of and camping couldn't have been easier or more pleasant. Anyone who chooses to come here for a weekend stay will not regret it!

It could have been great... but

a very old tree (~200 years old, though they will tell you 1000..) and real tree house in the middle of a forest.. There are many things that are amazing about this experience.. totally cut off from the civilization you are alone... you treck 200 meters to get to it.. in the middle of the forest mornings are very loud with birds creating a racket.. though u cant see them because the roof of the forest is very high... but i am giving only 3 stars, because if only the little things were taken care of it could have been great.. there was a extra mattress, but bedding for the same. Only one quilt. the bathroom smelt like a train loo... I am being a bit too demanding maybe, but when they charge ~15k per night you expect better... and you fell bad when it could have been done... but.. If they improve their service this is definitely a 5 starer.
