Great

A real little gem. Stayed just the one night. The room was slightly on the small side, but wasn't there to sit in it all day or night, so didn't affect the stay one bit. Very clean, everything you need. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Didn't have drinks, but the parlour looks really nice and would like to try a cocktail or two another time.

A quaint little hotel giving easy access to the town. Fantastic staff

We ended up at The Merchant’s House at the very last minute. We had booked a different hotel which was a such a poor standard we left after 10mins. This was the Jubilee bank holiday so we weren’t sure we could get in anywhere! After phoning a few places we found that the Merchant’s house had vacancies. From the moment we entered the hotel we were impressed with the friendly service. Ok , the rooms aren’t large but everything was there. The room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was really good, fruit yoghurt, pastries, full English and the best bit, eggs of any sort cooked to order. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Really friendly and accommodating. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Very similar to one of the previous reviews, My friend and i were cycling the King Alfred's Way Route and we arrived at the B&B after a very wet afternoon struggling through slippery , rutted wet chalk! We were able to hose our bikes down before hosing ourselves down! Debbie then very kindly offered to do our laundry which was washed and dried before she gave us a lift down to Red Lion! What more could we ask for? well, a lift back from the Pub as well! Debbie even provided a pair of dry shoes for me to borrow. The room we had was perfect, clean, spacious and comfortable, breakfast was excellent. We are now back from our weeks bike packing trip and this was by far the best overnight stay of the lot. So thank you Debbie and Mike.

My husband is doing a charity bike ride May 2022, and following a mishap of leaving his tent at a stop along the road, which wasn't there on his return, it hen rained, cold and wet, his good fortune was the George Inn which came into view. The Manager and staff, thankfully and gratefully came to his rescue and gave him a bed and a meal for the night. Their actions went above and beyond and we cannot thank them enough. The food was excellent and the bed was warm and cosy. Thoroughly recommend them, we will definitely make a special trip together to experience the food and accommodation in less fraught circumstances.

Qudos Hotel

Qudos, located right in the city centre is a quintessential Victorian Hotel which has recently been refurbished to a high standard, whilst retaining its original period charm. The downstairs has been extensively refurbished to provide a chic new bar and contemporary restaurant. Qudos proudly promotes the venue as unique having a dedicated area where musicians can come and perform playing all music styles from Blues to Jazz, Acoustic Rock to Classical music. We are a live music venue, so please note the music from the bands will be audible until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Residents are invited to enjoy all the music offered whilst being assured we keep strict guidelines on the times of the music to ensure the quiet enjoyment of our guests. Our rooms have recently been refurbished, boasting all of the modern amenities one would expect, whilst having the relaxed feel that one desires. Parking is extremely limited on site, however there is on street parking directly adjacent on Scots lane and the central car park is a 2 minute stroll, with free parking overnight between the hours of 6 pm and 8am, and daily parking from £7.40. We are able to offer pre-booked parking at a cost of £5 per car. Qudos is an excellent place from which to visit Salisbury and its surrounding countryside, whilst being able to sample some fantastic music in what is Salisbury's premier over 25's bar and restaurant.

Friendly bar and nice breakfast

Reviewed By Beswetherick

Exploring the pubs in this part of the city, I noticed the Scots Bar on a corner. Part of the Qudos Hotel but open to the public, it turned out well worth a visit. The building's old, but the bar minimalistic, stylish, modern, clean. The two evening staff--European ladies-- made great hosts, friendly and easygoing. The locals were friendly too--"best bar in Salisbury," they told me. To be fair, I found most of the bars in Salisbury decent during my my stay, but this one is definitely up there. Hard to describe why--just a vibe. And they do my favourite lager: Korev. One of the staff had been setting out breakfast facilities where the bar room phases round the corner into an eating area. She told me the breakfasts start at 7.30 and are open to the public. The set up looked inviting, so next day I went round and put their Full English (with an extra egg) to the test. At first I was the only customer, so got served quickly, by a sports mad young man who plays golf. The breakfast came up hot and freshly cooked, though somehow the fried eggs were overdone--perhaps deliberately, some people like them that way? Good quality eggs, though. As were the bacon and sausage. Beans, hash brown, and (my highlight) tasty field mushrooms completed the plate. Only snag with this place is you have to get your own drink from a machine, as at Spoons. And the guy told me to help myself to toast. But I didn't because how could it be hot? So I think if there are weak points with the Qudos Scots Lane bar, they'd arise from its being all things at once. A hotel guest might expect to serve themselves part of their breakfast buffet-style, a walk-in breakfaster not so much. An evening hotel diner mightn't appreciate being overlapped by a public bar. Something will always have to give. I liked this place as a bar and an early breakfast spot. A guest I spoke to said he enjoyed staying in the hotel itself.

Cosy

Nice and cosy, the bed frames were a bit noisy but the beds themselves were very comfy. The tv was ridiculously small and prob not worth having. The bathroom had cobwebs and the extractor fan wasn't working and the alarm clock wasn't working. But overall still really nice and quiet and the host was amazing.

Sarum College

Stay in historic buildings within the beautiful Salisbury Cathedral Close. Sarum has 40 en-suite rooms, some with stunning views of the Salisbury Cathedral and the rooftops of the Close. Rooms not used by students and conference guests are let for bed and breakfast. There are also a small number of very modest rooms with shared facilities for those on a tight budget. Sarum's central location is a five-minute walk from High Street shops, cafes and the charter market. Excellent cultural venues within the Close include Salisbury Museum and Mompesson House, while Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre and dozens of restaurants and pubs lie just beyond its medieval walls. Return to the Close with your own gate key, knowing you are among the privileged few to stay in what Bill Bryson described as England's 'most beautiful space'. The train station is about a 15-minute walk away (5 minutes by taxi). Direct trains to London are about an hour and 20 minutes.

Over a hundred years old the inn has been refurbished but still got character. With 7 letting rooms, a seven day a week carvery plus a la carte menu, kids catered for and a full bar with a wide range of drinks, the inn is a great place to visit. Customer service is what we are passionate about and you will always receive a warm welcome.

Extremely Poor quality rooms for price

Reviewed By A6812DBps

We stayed in the family room for one night. The hotel welcomes you with a notice explaining it is in debt. And you can see examples of this through out the room. The room was extremely dirty with layers of dust everywhere including the bathrooms. The drainage system is a complete shambles and we had a toilet block within a couple of uses. Obviously the manager did not hesitate to blame us for flushing down wipes straightaway. No hairdryer either although it’s one of the “facilities” provided in the room. Disgusting treatment for a filthy room.
