We stayed 2 nights for a short break in the area. Good location for places of interest in all directions. Lovely welcome by our host Liz. Nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable room. Very clean with modern ensuite. We had plenty of room in the Junior suite on the first floor. Plenty of parking on site. We slept well in comfortable bed with no noise to disturb us. Super cooked breakfast served by our hosts in the main house across the courtyard.

Pleasure passing through

We stayed one night at the Blue Mantle on our way to Cornwall, the guesthouse is owned and run by Andrew and his Family. On arrival Andrew was very welcoming and helpful answering our questions about parking nearby. He showed us to our room and let’s us know he had made provision for our request for a gluten fee breakfast for my wife. The room was clean and the beds comfortable, it had an en-suite including a shower. TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime video are available if you have our own account to log in with. After a comfortable and restful overnight we both enjoyed the breakfast mine a full English which was brilliant and the gluten free for my wife as we requested. Andrews charming young daughter helped the breakfast service run smoothly and courteously by offering more tea or coffee. Andrew is a great host one of the best we have encountered. The Blue Mantle is located conveniently in Wellington and the breakfast room is delightful with floor to ceiling windows keeping the room bright even on our rainy morning departure. Well done Family we were made to feel welcome and valued guest and the cooked breakfast was marvellous.

On the 4th June 2022 we had the pleasure of having our daughters wedding here. From first contact right up until we left after the wedding all the staff were extremely professional and polite, The venue itself was perfect, the food was top quality, the decor in the function room was just amazing and the whole place was very clean. We did stay the night in one of the rooms which again we found to be comfortable and clean . The breakfast in the morning was cooked fresh so made it much better. I would highly recommend this place. 10/10

ideal base for local area but some failings

very pleasant hosts, some unavoidable noise from above. Basic living area containing uncomfortable and cramped 2 seat sofa with a throw plus a uniquely interesting kitchen in a cupboard with very little room for anything but basic cooking facilities but just worked Good sized bedroom with 2 single beds and duvets pushed together to make a king sized area but unfortunately tiled floors resulted in beds moving around en suite shower excellent but with very low toilet and no shelves . As I am tall i noticed that the shower room window’s large high sill had not been cleaned and was covered in aged dust, cobwebs and dead insects which was not very pleasant and avoidable. the inner hall light for some reason came on and off of its own accord randomly with no explanation, perhaps a ghost but more likely a wiring fault or switching problem but nonetheless somewhat alarming. Wifi and phone signal in the barn very patchy and sat nav usage was a challenge We tried the nearest pub “Martlett Inn”on first night and found it well below average with high prices and uninterested staff However we had good quiet break, with pleasant owners ,thank you

Great stay and great breakfast

Reviewed By Michelle F

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting friends. The garden and the view from our bedroom window were beautiful and the room had everything we needed, including a bottle of water and plenty of extra pillows. The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. We both had the full English breakfast and it was very tasty, especially the sausage, which i forgot to ask where i could buy some. There was a lot of toast and coffee and the homemade jams where lovely. You could buy some from the owners to take home. All in all, a very nice place to stay and i would definitely stay here again.

Lovely welcoming place to stay

This is a fantastic place to stay with the warmest of welcomes, great early evening food (nothing too much trouble) and a good range of very well priced drinks. It’s on the main road and the walls are a bit thin but honestly what do you expect for the price. Can’t wait to come back (might have to find an excuse to do so!)
