Reviewed By Anstruther2019This is a simple hotel with no frills but has excellent hospitality. The greeting on arrival was warm and friendly and that was also the case throughout the stay. We had booked a lake view room. The room was basic (first time I had seen a candlewick bedspread for decades but comfortable with a very good bathroom. There was a very small balcony but the spectacular view of lake Orta was breathtaking. We dined in the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we had in Orta. Good quality, reasonably-priced food accompanied by a very good (and fairly priced) bottle of Barolo. Breakfast was also excellent with freshly cooked eggs served at the table. Much better than the bun-fights in the much more expensive hotels we used on this trip. At £67 for the night including breakfast it was outstanding value.

Our B&B is in a small village near Lake Orta (5 min.by car) and Lake Maggiore (15 min.by car). Surrounded by a large garden, is located in a peaceful area and is a perfect starting point for different kind of natural and cultural excursions (trekking, mtb, motorbike, car).Many services available at walking distance. We speak English and French.---

Reviewed By kwentinnWe stayed for a few days in summer 2019 and we had a wonderful time! Manuela is a very kind person and she's eager to make you feel at home ! She's passionate about her region and gives very good advice about the places to visit in the area. I highly recommend this place for a quiet stay in the italian countryside. As far as I know, she speaks Italian (native), English and French.

Reviewed By Graham LWhen booking we had looked for convenience, a property close to the waterfront for our overnight stay in the beautiful Orta San Gulia. The property is located a street off the Lake in a little Piazza and close to the waterfront. On arrival from Stresa at about 9.30 am we had expected to leave our luggage at Reception before exploring. We were pleasantly surprised when Frederica on Reception took us to our room which was available. Well things became better when we were also offered breakfast! Sadly, we declined having eaten earlier. That's certainly never happened to us before - anywhere! Frederica also assisted with transport to the Statione for our early departure the following morning. Wonderfully, the staff also went out of there way to ensure that provisions for breakfast were brought to our room before they went off-shift! Thank you, for such a wonderful service ethic which was greatly appreciated! Importantly for us, this property is serviced by a lift which has access from both streets. Our room was adequate and fairly typical of the European rooms in older buildings but the linen was fresh and the bed was comfortable. There was also aircon and heating (for when the weather cools). The bathroom was roomy with a larger than usual shower for Italy complete with rain shower and piping hot water (and other sprays). Sadly our stay in the beautiful and relaxing Orta San Guilio was short but the property and it's staff, special mention to Frederica, went to every length possible to ensure that our visit was memorable! Thank you!!

Passing through the door, you can immediately breathe a decidedly refined and elegant, painstakingly , with stone walls and exposed brick walls , ceilings , paintings copyright , enriching , class , walls. The environment, soft and intimate, allowing guests to be at ease . The venue has a central hall and a small more private room . The restaurant is suitable for all occasions , including: dinners for couples, work and important occasions . The Osteria San Martino , in short, the ideal place to spend in absolute harmony and relax a wonderful evening , where style is at home.
A quiet, quaint venue
Reviewed By Alix HThe holiday apartments and rooms in this quaint old house are all accessed via an internal courtyard and wooden walkways. it's a bit like staying in a tiny castle. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, though having some knowledge of Italian will help. The hamlet is very quiet and so good night's sleep is pretty well guaranteed. Be aware this is an old property and there is no aircon.

Reviewed By mayki28We arrived at Melizio B&B after a long drive and received a warm and friendly welcome by Mela & Mauricio, our amazing hosts and their 2 adorable dogs. we immediately felt at home in this picturesque farm house with a stream flowing by and tranquil green scenery. The house is beautifully decorated in colorful and joyous style, and Mela and Mauricio will take care for all you need. Breakfast is E-X-T-R-A-ordinary with rich buffet of delicious homemade and traditional goodies and fresh products from the farm. We stayed there for four nights and didn't want to leave... we would definitely come back again!!

The service, the cleanliness, the friendliness of the family who own it with such pride, the location so close to all you need to see in this glorious area -and then there's the food. That alone needs a categorisation of it's own. Breakfast is typical Italian, meats, cheeses, breads, etc., then the special "extra" a tart today, a cake tomorrow, all baked by the astonishingly accomplished daughter/ chef. Lunch is packed wi th locals, and why not, fish fresh from lake to plate in one leap, pasta home made, desert, 3 set courses at a very small price. Then her spectacular dinner menu. Not a huge array of dishes, but if regional Italian, cooked fresh, sauces, pasta, meat dishes to whet any appetite, is appealing -and it should be for any discerning traveller - this is it. We chose to eat in every night,it was just that good.The best kept secret in the Italian lake system is D'Orta, literally meaning "Daughter of the Lake". Summer. The season, and it is so busy, but, Spring, Autumn are a sensational time to visit. We would return in a heartbeat, and if we ever venture that path again, we will be heading to The lovely little "Inn of the Gentian Flower " first stop! We recommend both the area, the delightful little hotel, and the simply amazing food.

Reviewed By regina958Excellent breakfast, very clean, affordable and host very accommodating. Spacious rooms. Lago D'Orta is nearby and had very nice pizza in nearby town centre. We were very lucky as our Italian family only lived around the corner from the Hotel and it was walking distance.
