MacKenzie's B&B

The most homely B&B in Scotland

Reviewed By Adam_dndee

This is probably the most lovely, the most home feeling B&B I've ever been to. All rooms are done up with good taste and are very comfortable. Lots of nicknacks for you to use, and even a complementary dram of whisky in the rooms. The breakfast served in the family kitchen makes it even more personal. It was difficult not to get up and not to help out in with the pans. Also Jane's waffles are just amazing. Thank you so much for having us!

An Caladh

Glorious Scotland

Reviewed By 885silg

I fell in love with Scotland! Don't know why because it is so rugged and unspoiled almost to the point of abandoned beauty if you know what I mean. Nothing pretentious or man made about this place! Just nature and fairy's at its best! Really you would think you are stepping back in time and the heather almost floats through the glens depending on how the light hits the peaks and valleys. Every ruin has its own charm as did An Caladh but the little town of Plockton is in itself a little jewel by the sea. I did a Rabbies Tour at this time and enjoyed every single minute including the heavy downpour and cold temperatures in August! Loved Scotland and hope to go back soon! Oh and I plan to do another Rabbies Tour with the guides I could barely understand and their woolen beautiful kilts -decidedly a Scottish touch! Oh did I mention the sheep and cows? Fell in love with these creatures too! Not just any ordinary sheep or cows either. These definitely had attitude and spunk so no amount of staring or gawking got under their skin. Oy yeah I'll be back sporting me own kilt!

A LOVELY STAY IN PLOCKTON

Reviewed By adelgirl70

I stayed here as part of a Rabbies Tour throughout Scotland. I've never stayed nor been to Plockton before but was looking forward to it because it was the place where Hamish MacBeth was filmed. We were greeted warmly by the owner Sybil and her husband/partner and shown to our rooms. Plockton is a very small town with only three restaurants/pubs so we had to pre-book our nightly dinners. The rooms were comfortably furnished with ensuites, the breakfast room was decorated warmly and the service and quality of the food was excellent. The Sybil was lovely and very friendly giving me heaps of knowledge about the area and the series Hamish Macbeth of which I was a fan. If ever back in Plockton I will probably stay here again

Plockton Gallery - The Manse

Its a big old house, a former manse, with views of the sea loch- Loch Carron- from all the rooms. Big rooms and bathrooms. Full of paintings, lots of which are for sale. Log fires in the winter. BBQ's in the summer. Opposite the Plockton Inn and round the corner from the Plockton Hotel and The Shores, excellent meals out are easy to arrange. As an article in the May 2013 Yachting Monthly says, " if anything, you've too many views around Plockton. Snuggled around a sheltered cove on the south side of Loch Carron, the place is absurdly picturesque."n.b. There is no B&B sign outside, we are opposite the Plockton Inn and there are a lot of sculptural pieces in the garden. Wrought iron gate and grey front door. There are working locks on all bedroom doors and for the front door, just ask me for the keys if you require them.

Beautiful, authentic and homely

Reviewed By VijithK

We had a very comfortable stay. The family room we got was very spacious for the two of us and our two children. It was well appointed, and very comfortable. Had lovely views. Its a great location in a farming area but also only a few minutes drive to all the restaurants. Joan and Iain treated us like family. They are such warm and welcoming people.

Heron's Flight Bed and Breakfast

Flight and Hotel

Reviewed By Eva A

My last flight to Hurghada hotel Steigenberger Al Dau was quite pleasant, the onboard staff was nice, only the Airbus 320 that AlMasria Airlines uses to transport is behind its zenith. Hotel Al Dau is top, everywhere clean, nice and helpful hotel staff, daily changed towels, bath towels, rugs in front of the bath, replenished mini bar. The beach maintained care for the cleanliness and satisfaction of the hotel guests. Diet varied, a large selection of both hot and cold meals, desserts. I can only evaluate as the top 5 *, the hotel recommend. I'd like to come back here.

The Captain's House

A great location. Clean and modern serve yourself breakfast.

Reviewed By billybishop13

Stayed here three nights. Up around the corner from the waterfront and in a good location to get around the town. It was clean, new and quiet. The hosts were in and out but it was basically a serve yourself food. Each unit was left a special tray in the fridge and had access to all the necessary foods and appliances to make what you wished for breakfast. Great room and attached bathroom.

After more than 20 years as a 4-star B&B I am now offering Room Only (en suite) with a courtesy tea and coffee tray in the bedrooms. There is a Residents' Lounge downstairs with an uninterrupted view over the sea to the Isle of Skye.

Don't go there unless you HAVE to...

Reviewed By Tarsis_Isterval

-The only good thing about this place is the beautiful dense forest that surrounds it. -The location is miles away from the closest city. -The room looks old and there are tons of family pictures displayed all over the place, that for some reason the combination of those things made us feel unwelcome. -The lady was nice. -The WiFi doesn't reach in the bedrooms and is active ONLY before evening. -No breakfast, you can buy some stuff the day before in a convenience store to eat in your bedroom, or you can drive for miles before having to pay a lot to have breakfast in a town. -As i said in the title, don't go there is you can avoid it.
