10 Top-Rated Bed and Breakfast Inns in Nairn, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

April 24, 2023 Lashaunda Abraham

Thanks to its unique micro-climate, Nairn gets more hours of sunshine and less rainfall than other towns just a few miles away. Thankfully, this combination of abundant sun and no rain provide the perfect weather conditions for golf, as Nairn boasts two 18-hole championship courses. (And if you have time on your hands, there are 30 more courses within 60 miles.) Don't miss the town's jazz and film festivals, the latter of which was started by Nairn resident and actress Tilda Swinton (you'd know her if you saw her).

Short business trip with golf thrown in

Owners very accommodating as my BA flight was cancelled last minute meaning my arrival was a day late! A warm welcome, spotlessly clean lovely room with toiletries. Tea & coffee in the room with access to more if needed. Breakfast was excellent, nothing too much trouble, everything cooked fresh to order, truly cannot fault anything. Sadly I didn’t have time to sample the afternoon tea & fresh cakes which can be enjoyed in their lovely garden area. Final point, my room had a walk-in shower, I know if I had brought my wife she would have wanted a bath tub, no idea if any rooms accommodate this?

Royal Guest House Nairn

Cheap and rooms clean but not wash and toilet unhygienic or faulty. Terribly noisy

Reviewed By Companion626639

This is a no staff on site, hmo type property. It’s up a lane where there are overflowing refuse bins. Key boxes hold your front door and room key. I had two rooms booked. On arrival I was told we were on 2nd floor where the shower was out of use. There are 4 rooms on each floor, sharing a shower and separate toilet on each floor. The stairwell and bedrooms were pleasant. No mirror in room 1. The toilet on 2nd floor took several flushes and the sink drain had hair and other brown substances coming up the plug hole and slow to drain, leaving debris behind. The shower on 1st floor had a thermostat fault, either freezing cold or scolding hot, no warm. Yes cheap but too many rooms and potential guests for the available unhygienic toilet and wash facilities. It appears the shower has been faulty for some time. The windows are single glazing so it’s very noisy with seagulls and people outside. All we wanted was a clean bed and shower ?. I’m my opinion this property should not be taking paying customers at any cost, while the facilities are unhygienic. Booking.com altered my review and didn’t print it honestly.

Beautiful location

Reviewed By jetsetter511

Turning off the main road and up the drive to Carnach House it is impossible not to admire the very pretty extensive gardens full of the most attractive flowering bushes that fill the air with a wonderful aroma. The house itself is imposing and the owners, Hilary and Ian, have been successfully restoring it to its original style, creating an admirable home. When we arrived, Hilary helped us with our luggage to our very comfortable and spacious en suite room and told us a little about the history of the property. The quality of the furniture and furnishings are of a very high standard, everywhere was immaculate, the hosts are friendly and knowledgeable, giving us advice about places to visit and things to do. The weather prevented us from making the most of the grounds, however, we were able to admire the stunning views from our bedroom window. In the morning we ate breakfast in the impressive dining room, chatting to other guests around the table. Sadly, the red squirrels did not make an appearance!
