Arrived to a warm welcome from the hosts. Room was clean and spacious. Nice selection of beverages and snacks. The house is in easy walking distance of the town centre. Having the added benefit of being able to use the guest lounge was excellent. A really comfortable area with WiFi and tea, coffee and bottled water all available with a selection of biscuits. The cooked breakfast was well presented, good quality and tasty. Alongside that was a nice selection of cereal and yogurt. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and use again if in the area. The hosts gave us the warmest welcome of our whole Scottish trip which is appreciated and as you see noted when we look back over our stay.

The Black Bull Inn, Moffat

The Black Bull in Moffat is reputed to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest hostelry in Scotland. Built in 1568 it is certainly steeped in history. It was a favourite watering hole for the bard Robert Burns who once engraved a pane of glass with some locally-inspired verses. Today following a refurbishment the Black Bull is now a luxurious 15 bedroom boutique hotel.

A charming, low key place to stay, just a few minutes walk from Moffat centre. It’s clean, great value for money and the lady who runs it was just delightful. Im sure there are ‘swankier’ places to stay in Moffat but for value and a friendly welcome this place would be hard to beat. Recommended!

Fabulous Queensbury House

Reviewed By Slimdaz

Just spent 2 nights at Queensbury House. It's definitely the best B&B we've stayed in whilst in Scotland. Our room, complete with en-suite, was freshly decorated, the room itself as you would expect after being decorated was clean, warm, quiet and tidy. The bed was very comfortable, and we had 2 great nights sleep. Caroline and Miles are very hospitable, they provided us with a plethora of information prior to our arrival, and when we got there a warm welcome and drink. They have a wealth of knowledge and nothing was too much to ask. The breakfast menu covered all tastes, was ordered the night before and cooked fresh. We enjoyed it so much that we will definitely be back later in the year. Queensbury House is ideally located in Moffat, which has a few eateries to choose from, is on the door step of the Southern Uplands and and ideal location to use as a base for exploration. All I can say is that why hesitate booking Queensbury House, you won't be disappointed.

Never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Rather menacing staff.

Having used an online business app to book a nights accommodation I chose to stay in Moffat. We are rather limited by vendor approved places so I chose hartfell house. Got to the room and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who was very pleasant. I also decided to book into the restaurant as the menu looked good. After a little visit to the town centre I changed my mind on my reservation and cancelled my table. Later on my return I went ti my room only to notice it was next to the busy dining area which was quite noisy. I requested if I could possibly change my room as I had an early start the next day. Rather than help me I was strangely quizzed that I “had a table booked for dinner didn’t I?” I was assure there would be no noise after 10.30pm. Which didn’t really help. My room also started to fill with the smell of fish so had to lie a towel down under the door. The following morning after breakfast I went to check out and was informed they didn’t accept American Express (the credit card my company uses and therefore they should accept as they vendor approved). So I had ti transfer some money. At that point I was also told I had to pay for the room that I had cancelled before (which was within the cancellation policy stated). The receptionists smile turned into a smirk and I started to feel that the initial smiles were Painted on and was clearly a case of entrapment. I won’t be staying here again and will be letting my company know to remove them from our register.
