We have 3 en-suite rooms and a pod with hot tub

Stay away from this place!

Reviewed By vikkihood1

We stayed in the pod with the hot tub for 2 nights at the start of October, we were treated nicely, food was lovely. However after leaving we have been treated extremely poorly by the owner. We asked for our £50 deposit back as instructed and have been refused as the hot tub was apparently left “disgusting” and “murky” but I don’t think she knew I understood how a hot tub works. I’m aware of the pH levels need to be checked daily and chemicals need added on an if/when basis. This was not checked the whole 2 days we were there. The owner has continued to slander myself and my boyfriend and is making up lies about us, sending me extremely rude messages and talking down to me. We will not be back, and will make sure we recommend our loved ones to stay away! Do yourselves a favour and stay away from this place, they clearly enjoy taking £50 from customers and make up reasons to not give it back.

Staying at the caravan park adjacent we decided to have evening dinner here.on arrival the staff were attentive showing us to our seats . we we're given lunch menus and told same menu in use at night apart from sandwiches. The choice is very limited about 7-8 on starters and main courses. Draft lager has 2 choices. and at £6.00 per pint overpriced Starter of asparagus was presented well and tasty. Main courses are small and overpriced ,as is the cheeseboard at £11.00 so declined the offer of dessert. Disappointed in this place so don't think we will return

Bit disappointed second stay , when we last stayed before covid lockdown they said they were renovating, as our room the last time was the smallest but only one available at the time ,we chose to go for a more expensive bigger room ,this turned out to be room 5 still extremely small , very basic and in need of a complete renevation firstly the matress was so uncomfortable and very worn out , the blinds not blackout and curtains don't fit and with a bus stop outside your room !! rather overlooked !! The bathroom was very tired looked to have been retiled, but the bath was old the shower was terrible no place to put anything towels were old and hard like been dried out side for a few days !!! The bar and restaurant do serve very good meals , but again in need of a good declutter and refurbishment, Being the only hotel in such a popular location and tourist attraction, it is missing out on a lot more business I would think . Unfortunately I don't think we would book this hotel again . Shame as we have many friends in the area and it's convenient for us .

Superb food

My partner and I decided to eat out for lunch, our first since covid 19. We decided to visit a local hotel, the Naavar House Hotel in Penicuik! What a great choice it turned out to be. The restaurant was spotless and tables socially distanced, my partner ordered the Gammon steak and I chose the roast silverside with all the trimmings which was wonderful. All the staff were great, I cannot fault it.

The Stair Arms Hotel

Adequate but wouldn’t recommend

Reviewed By sarahbN4798YK

Whilst our room was clean and spacious there was a huge damp patch and on another wall the wallpaper was peeling off. The shower was a dribble although the bath was lovely and big. The public areas of the hotel were dark, dingy and not very clean. A very jolly young man served us our evening meal which was fairly good food. Nothing special. At breakfast however the girl who served us was miserable. There was limited choice and nothing available for vegans. There was no Wifi in the rooms and no hairdryers in the rooms. Apparently people steal them. There was also no apology for the noise of the wedding party that went on until very late at night.

Fabulous Stay For Our Trip To Edinburgh

Reviewed By Janine S

We had a fantastic time here at this property. The owners were lovely and welcoming, and we will definitely be returning again soon! The bed was super comfy, and the room was spacious and was well designed. The only thing I would recommend is an area to get ready, and some more plug sockets by the bed. But other than that I couldn't fault it! A perfect stay!
