The Red Tree House

STAYING WITH FRIENDS... The Red Tree House continues to be Mexico City’s number one B&B by providing its guests with genuine hospitality and personal service not found in standard accommodations. We are not a luxury hotel with grand rooms and formal service. Instead you will find tasteful rooms, beautiful surroundings, congenial hosts, and interesting fellow guests. To help make your stay more enjoyable, our dedicated, professional staff is available to assist you day and night.

Amazing two nights in Red Tree House

Reviewed By maxenglish1

The Red Tree House is a must stay. Viktor and Luis were incredible hosts, really made us feel welcome. The breakfasts were authentic and fresh, and set us up for the day. The art work in the building and the room are unreal, and have really been chosen well. They look expensive, so the art isn't just Mexican rip-off, it's proper gallery standard, some with art glass, so the building has the air of a gallery, a real personal collection. The bed is extremely comfortable, the bathroom is huge, we stayed in the Junior Suite. There was a safe, an ironing board too. Location is fantastic, you're right in the thick of it but feel very safe as there are two massive gates before entering, plus 24/7 concierge helping with whatever you need. There was a 6-8pm happy hour with drinks on the house, as a sort of mingling thing before people went out for dinner.

Too Good to be True!

I'm almost hesitant to write this because I can only imagine this hotel is going to get very very popular in only a few months! This hotel is AMAZING value for money. My room was gorgeous, super comfortable and chic. The breakfast terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a morning. There is no AC or heating but each room had a fan which was perfect as when we visited it cooled down in the evening. I asked for a quiet room and my room was perfectly silent and I had the best night's sleep. I've been to CDMX three times and this hotel is by far my favourite!

Perfect urban oasis

This was the perfect home base for our first visit to CDMX. The room was excellent with an incredibly comfortable bed. We slept amazingly with the highly effective air conditioning and didn't hear a sound from outside the room. The included breakfasts were a great start to the day with a variety of delicious options. And after a long day exploring the city, the variety of seating areas around the property were lovely for lounging, and provided cover even when it was raining. The location is ideal for exploring the Condesa, with many parks and restaurants within a few blocks! Highly recommended.

Not at all relaxing

Reviewed By B724DPalis

The restaurant and the staff in general are of a good standard. But staying somewhere where electronic music was played full volume from morning (11am) to night (into the early hours), loud enough to be loud inside my room, was horrible. There was a party organized for the saturday I stayed there with no warning given to guests, so that the whole centre of the hotel was full of random people, with more loud music blaring. Bathrooms do not have a bath. Overall, the experience was not at all relaxing and bad value for money.

Awful reception service, nice hotel

Reviewed By euan95

Booked as a last minute hotel for an overnight flight stop between America and Guatemala. We requested their free airport pickup service, only to be waiting half an hour and have to get an Uber there, where we received no reimbursement or apology of any kind. We then asked if there was a room for us to have access to as we did not sleep due to the timing of the flight, and were told they were absolutely no rooms available as they were fully booked the night before. However, if we paid the early check in price, she could have a suitable room cleaned as soon as one was free, which may of hopefully been in an hour or so. We decided to pay and take advantage of breakfast while we waited. As soon as the payment was through and I pocketed my credit card, she took out a room key, called over a bellboy and gave him the key to show us to our now spontaneously available room. Found this shocking especially just after being lied too about how they were completely fully booked and even with the payment we would have to wait an hour or so for a room. As we were being shown to our room, we could see plenty of other empty rooms being cleaned by the staff. Once in our room, we dumped our bags, and decided to see what the bathroom and view looked like. The room itself was great, but I had booked and paid extra for a city view room. What I received was a view of a wall and piping only a couple of meters from the window itself. Upon this discovery we went back down to complain, asking either for a refund of the difference in price that I had paid for the room with a view, or for them to move us to the room we had booked. They told us there were no such rooms available, that those rooms were on a first come first serve basis, and that we could not receive a refund as we had used the room already given to us. We had dumped our bags on the bed, and opened a bottle of complementary water. This is apparently “used” to such an extent we are not allowed a refund. After about 20 minutes of dealing with them over this issue, they once again pulled out a key, gave it to a bellboy, and said he will show you to your room. This was the second time we were lied to by reception staff in order for them to take advantage of us by not giving us a room we had paid extra for and by charging us extra for expedited cleaning of a room they already had free and available. The hotel itself was nice, the airport drop off service we used the following day was prompt and efficient, the buffet breakfast had attentive and polite catering staff with a lot of choice of food. Just a shame the receptionists con the customers and bring the whole place down.

Excellent service and facilities. Truly an oasis within the hustle and bustle of CDMX. Stay here if you want to relax after all the sightseeing you’ll be doing. Felt safe and was easy to get around and walk around in the community. I really enjoy the history of the hotel and the dedication put into restoration and preservation without losing its modern feel. Just be aware if you like air conditioning, this won’t be the place for you. I hate AC so it was no issue w me to sleep but my mother requested a fan. It has a small kitchen in the suite so you can potentially live there and cook! They also have a terrace where they provide breakfast. My mother wasn’t impressed w the American style food available, but she’s particular and it was really her only wish that it was more Mexican. Lol I thought it was fine, plus it’s Mexico go out and explore! Thank you Pena Pobre, I’ll be back!

Sonder facilities are absolutely gorgeous. The Polanco, CDMX location was situated between 2 beautiful parks and lots and lots of restaurants. I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and discovering new places to eat, relax and people watch. The check in and check out process were very easy. They even accommodated an early check-in for me. I will absolutely stay at Sonder again in the future.
