Food available just talk to the staff they will hook u up. Board walk at the back side of the hotel. I (female) was alone there for 7 days but felt so safe with the staff. Staff was amazing. Sanal treated me like his family. I will give 100/100 for the service. I can't wait to go back. I realy enjoyed fishing. staff was so generous to make arraignment to cook the fish that I caught . Very clean. Close to Munroe island.

Our home stay is on the bank of the river Kallada and gives you a mesmerizing view of the river surrounded by coconut trees which are bending towards the river as though they are bowing river Kallada. Munroe island is located at the confluence of Ashtamudi lake and the Kallada river in Kollam district in Kerala, South India. The Island is well connected by road, rail and island water navigation. The place is named in honor of Residential Colonel John Munroe of the formerly princely state of Travancore. The island is about 13.4 sq km. Whats in the name ?…… Green Chromide is a variety of fish, which is favorite of most the Keralites and is commonly found in this area and off course one of the main dish in our menu !!!

Reviewed By Fairytale SWe stayed at Green Chromide Homestay in Mar 2021. The homestay is hosted by a very welcoming and courteous family, who has stayed at Munroe Island for several years. They know the island in and out. The homestay features a private wooden chalet that overlooks the Kallada River and 2 rooms in their own house located right beside the chalet. We stayed in the wooden chalet. It is pretty spacious and fitted with all modern amenities like AC, geyser, fan, tea/ coffee maker. There's an ensuite bathroom and a small kitchenette as well. The front porch of the chalet gives an incredible view of the Kallada River. The chalet is surrounded by a beautiful garden where they have hung hammocks to relax. The garden also has a riverside patio where meals are served, and it used to be our favourite place from where we watched the fishermen in their boats and locals crossing the river to go to work. The cool breeze from the Kallada River never made us feel too hot, even in the month of March. Our hostess, Sunaina, gave us valuable information about Munroe Island and suggested some lesser-known places to visit. She also arranged an early morning canoe ride on request. She and her family cook delicious meals and serve with lots of love. We had all our meals at the homestay. You can even borrow fishing hooks from the hosts, catch the popular Green Chromide fishes right from the property, and ask the hosts to cook it for you. You can even take their bicycles for a ride if you are interested. All in all, we really had a pleasant stay at Green Chromide Homestay. A big thanks to the family who were on their feet at all times to help and serve us. The Department of Kerala Tourism has awarded the Title Class A – Diamond Class for the homestay. Here in the village Ashtamudi (same name as the lake) the house is located with fashionably furnished rooms with all essentials like own bathroom, shower etc. Familiar atmosphere, the garden offers on more than 10 000 sq.m. (2,5 acres) a variety of herbs and vegetables, also many exotic trees can be found here. The view from the terraces and rooms of the house to the garden and the lake offers a magnificent panorama.

Reviewed By pullantharaThis was the third of four homestays and so far easily the best room and best host. Large clean comfortable room and bathroom in a stand alone chalet with own verandah. Excellent and plentiful meals provided. No bars or cafes anywhere near but close to small local shops. The location is ideal for low key canoe cruises on the narrow backwaters big boats cannot reach. Canoe trips just across the road and bigger boat trips from nearby. Suresh is a very attentive host - nothing us too much trouble and he is very warm and welcoming. An excellent host Easy to get to by train from Kollam Cochi or Allepey

L’avevo vista quando era in costruzione, ma mai mi sarei aspettata tale risultato. Arrivi, entri da una piccola porticina e….. tra il rinfresco del vento ( Samiira) trovi un bellissimo giardino con banane, noci di cocco e altre piante locali davanti al LAGO da dove ascolti solo il suono dei remi dei pescatori, canti di uccelli e il tremolio delle canne che fremono sulla riva. Non parliamo poi del resort. Vecchi centri di massaggio ayurvedico ricomposti in bellissime e rilassanti caseggiati uno con ben otto stanze e, la Veranda e altri tre con camere singole. Musica, spettacolo, yoga e tanto relax. Perfetto per famiglie, gruppone di amici, ma anche lavoro. Hanno centro studi e riunione. Veramente una meraviglia. Da non mancare!

Reviewed By GiMmELMy trip was unplanned visit to Munroe Island. It was a weekend that I took my bag and travel to Kollam. I called Mr.Anu (Munroe Island owner ) on the same day I had traveled. I booked a room there, I reached there at late night. He given me a free pick up from the Munrothuruthu railway station to the place I stay. That was hardly a 10 mins drive. He was very nice guy, that I understand he treat both Indian & Foreign guest very friendly and politely. Anyone can come and visit this resort that it's safe and you will never forget the experience. Morning he had arranged me a canoe ride to Munroe Island. KUTTAN CHETTAN who took me through his canoe and show me a wonderful backwater Experiences passing through narrow canals and Mangrove forests. Contact Details. Aunt Sita is a very supportive and caring person, she helped us in all aspects like arrange tailor to stitch necessary dresses and make up personnel. we can stay as female without any hesitation during the festival time.

We have six rooms available, all located in buildings detached from the main family home. All are furnished with large beds, fans, mosquito nets, and private bathrooms (with shower and western style toilet). Breakfast for 2 persons is included in the room price, full board is easily arranged if so wished.
