Fine hotel
Reviewed By xAmaronexFine hotel, clean room, not very large. Good breakfast. Location -> not at the beach but only a short stroll. View from hotel from our room was the parking lot. Not very great but didnt spend much time in the room anyway. Just a simple but clean and fine hotel.

A good place to spend the night witout leaving a fortune
Reviewed By GabiancarolaA simple place to spend the night, do not expect great things, just simple service, good hospitality, clean beds and bathroom, a bottle of raki, a dish with delicious grapes and a lady, Mrs. Maria, available to give you all the suggestions you might need. We spent one night here after spending a whole day in much more expensive Matala, I would definitely do it again, really worth it. Free wi fi too!

Garifalia Studios is ideal choice for holydays in Creta, located in the beautiful seaside resort of Kalamaki, on the south coast of Crete near to Moires, Matala, and the archaeological sites of Festos and Gortys Kalamaki is located on the southern side of Crete, very close to Matala, Phaistos and Agia Galini. Located 200 metres from the beach, at the village of Kalamaki, Garifalia Studios offers self-catering accommodation with views of the Libyan Sea and the surrounding mountains. Within walking distance, you can find taverns serving fresh fish and Cretan cuisine. Enjoying free Wi-Fi, Garifalia studios are air conditioned and open out to a private balcony. They feature a seating area and a kitchenette equipped with electric kettle and mini fridge. Each unit also has its own bathroom with hairdryer, and bathroom with shower. Within 3 km, guests can visit the ancient palace of Phaistos. The seaside village of Matala with its scenic beach is at 7 km. Garifalia Studios offer private free parking front of the hotel.
Very rude, indiscreet and disrespectful. No POS
Reviewed By SpiModVery RUDE and a big WHY? While at first everything looked very nice and the hosts very kind, the room was not worth it's price(35€). There was a lack of amenities, no shampoo, table, TV and no wifi signal. While there was a kitchen, the owner was frustrated that we used it, even if we cleaned everything telling us that we consumed too much power (two portions of beans). We agreed to check out at 12 o'clock, at 12.15 we were ready to go and cleaning the dishes we used, then she stormed the room and cut the power yelling at us that we should have left and the power should be cut off at 11.00 o'clock and that we should not have washed a skirt, a short pants and two tshirts. She was not discreet at all and she even shamelessly told us that she was looking upon us and counting our power and water consumption. We ask to pay by card and she responded that she does not have a POS. We said that having a POS is mandatory according to Greek law and she ironically responded "who's going to make me get one, you?" . She wanted to keep our stuff by force in order to go to the car to get cash while we asked her to come with us to pay her at the reception ( the "reception" is next to the parking). When we paid her(40€) she didn't want to give us our 5€ change back, it is pretty clear that we did not get any receipt(who could make her?? Hehe) . We asked if there is paved road (we arrived at night from a dirtroad) and she told us that it would be constructed in October, while leaving a very kind cretan lady pointed us to a perfectly paved road, we still cannot understand why Garyfalia lied to us that there is no such a road. I truly don't know what has happened to them to have such behavior. Garyfalia is very far away from Cretan hospitality, kindness, respect, discretion and obviously "filotimo" and self respect that we have come upon in our stay on the island, at Chania, at Elafonissi and in general everywhere we have been. She told us that "she knows people like us" we still don't know what she meant. SHAME.

Reviewed By DEFE7275I stayed with my 2 children in a triple room. The rooms was rather small but nice ad clean. The balcony was over viewing the street and at time noisy. The bathroom was fine but the shower box small (i am not big). The pool was large and clean and the area around very well kept. The hotel has the resort feeling which is not my style. The clientele was mainly German and the staff spoke better German then english. I was even welcome with a "guten tag"; it is fine when I am in Germany but in Greece I like something more authentic. The best place to stay in Kalamaki.

Reviewed By BackPacker439905We stayed one night at the hotel in order to see the Minoan ruins. Our room, which overlooked the ocean was clean and comfortable. The staff was kind and very accommodating. The breakfast was delicious! Parking was available.

Wonderful, restful stay
Reviewed By katerock1We stayed at Pelini for 3 nights in 'Irini' and have enjoyed enormously. The room is modern, with very comfortable bed. Wi-fi is great and the hosts have ensured there is everything required on hand. Air con is perfect although the balcony allows wonderful air - and sunshine. The views to Kalamaki bay are second to none. The hosts are very kind and helpful as well. Best restaurant in the area is also just next door! We found a real gem with Pelini and would highly-recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area. 10/10
