I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We stayed for 4 nights in early June. Our holiday had been postponed for 2 years and we were able to pay using the voucher issued by the hotel following the travel disruption caused by the pandemic. Over this time we corresponded by email with Eva, who handled the situation with great understanding and professionalism. She was extremely helpful and always responded promptly to any queries we had. All of the staff at the hotel, including Aliki and the breakfast waitress, were friendly and delightful. Eva arranged for a taxi to collect us from the airport - I’m so glad we did as we were delayed 4 hours and it was a relief to have someone waiting for us at midnight. We had checked in online beforehand but there were still staff waiting to welcome us at 12.30 at night who showed us to our room and took up our bags. The hotel is in a stunning location. The breakfast was delicious and always served with a smile. We just loved sitting outside on the terrace and watching the world go by. We visited restaurants on the hotel’s recommended list. The staff made reservations for us when we asked. They did everything to make our stay perfect. Chania is beautiful and if you’re planning a visit then look no further than the Alcanea.

It is immaculately clean and the breakfast is probably the best we have experienced on holiday. Everything is top quality, we do not want to leave and we will definitely return.

GREAT ACCOMMODATION, EXCLLENT HOSPITALITY!

Reviewed By MARIOHeraklion

Just spent a couple of nights with my family at Elia Fatma and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had two lovely rooms on the same level. The hotel itself is extremely clean, quiet, and charming. The staff (Dimitra at the front desk, and Gianna at the restaurant), is beyond helpful and will assist you with anything and everything you need, covered with a smile and big level of hospitality. Breakfast was in a charming, colorful room and no one wish was a problem for Gianna. Great location in the old town. There's really nothing negative I can say about the Fatma Boutique, especially if our accommodation will be comparing with the room charge.

Super Nice & Helpful Staff

All the great things said by other reviewers about the location, the rooms, and the breakfast (OMG!) are accurate ... and the staff is even better. Ask Angie for her typed-list of preferred food and wine places ... and enjoy a delightful conversation with her about anything. Discuss your day trips with Vasilis and he will mark up your take-away map with sooo much useful information. [Also, he was so generous with his time in helping us – just before the end of his night shift – locate the right medical clinic .. for what happily turned out to be a minor problem.] And at breakfast, Colin Furth exact-look-alike Chris was always a morning bright spot. Ask him how he's doing on his German lessons. And Barbara is an easy-going charmtrist (yes, it should be a word and Barbara is one.)

okay option for a more independent traveler

Reviewed By Road785773

When I made my reservation I arranged for the hotel to send a driver to pick me up at the airport for 25 euros. The driver was there when I exited arrivals and was polite and courteous. This "hotel" is a larger complex consisting of offices and also apartments. There is no hotel "lobby." There is a reception office. I checked in and was taken to my room and shown how the tv worked, etc. After I unpacked I noticed that I had been given only 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel. I was told when I checked in that housekeeping only came every 3 days (again, since it is not a regular "hotel") I went to the reception office to ask for 1 additional bath towel. I was told that since I was the only guest they only allow one towel but would "make an exception." I found that to be absurd. I actually try to be as green as possible when I travel and typically refuse housekeeping and new towels/sheets. The only reason I asked for another one was because I was told housekeeping only came every 3 days and I wanted to make sure I had an extra just in case. Oddly enough, despite what I was told housekeeping did come every day that I stayed there. I was confused by that but what can you do. Anyway, the location is decent. I personally found it a bit too far to walk to the harbor area, however, so I had the reception call a taxi for me each time and it was 5 euro to get there. I found that to be reasonable. There are several restaurants, cafes and small grocery stores in the area. The room itself was nice. The other issue I did have was that my room was on the ground floor directly across from a public ATM in the complex. I mean, literally 6 feet away from the ATM. It is a very busy ATM so at times there were groups of 5-6 people waiting in line right outside of my room door to use it. Since it is not a typical hotel I would suggest this for a more independent and experienced traveler. If you are not the kind of person who needs a lot of "hand holding" from a hotel front desk than this is the place for you. The two women staff who I did interact with (a younger and an older woman) were both friendly and professional.

The hotel itself is great. The rooms are spacious and the views of the ocean are nice. The breakfast includes items that are made fresh each day. In the hallway you can smell the aromas from breakfast as you make your way to the dining hall. I particularly liked the fresh squeezed orange juice. The staff is super friendly and extremely accommodating. They will do what they can if you have any special needs. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed 2 nights in a room with balcony. This is a small charming hotel in a lovingly restored historic building in a central location. Spotlessly clean in all areas our room was large and comfortable. Good shower. Good choice at breakfast with a variety of locally produced fruits, eggs, cheese , cold meats, yogurt etc. But the standout here is the warmth of the service from Arestaria (apologies spelling) and her staff. We got great restaurant recommendations and helpful information which enhanced our stay.

Residenza Vranas Boutique Hotel is a historic building (dating back to the 1500’s) that has been lovingly restored and open for guests for the past eight years. This small boutique hotel (only four rooms) gives each guest unobstructed views of the acclaimed Old Venetian Harbor and its Egyptian lighthouse in Chania. The owner, George, his father, brother and sister all made us feel like valued guests. They kindly arranged our late night pick up from the ferry terminal in Heraklion, to a tour one day of the surrounding area, to an included breakfast at Pallas that was a treat every morning (@pallasthealassa). They are what 5-star service is all about. We stayed in the third floor, two-bedroom suite which has a full floor-ceiling view of the Harbor & Lighthouse. Our most favorite establishment during our 16 day stay in Greece!. A secret gem that is worth every euro they charge!

This lovely hotel is on a pedestrian side street running parallel to the harbour 20m away. The location could not be better. The staff are so helpful. Breakfast is outside at the little cafe beside the front door... We went to bed with the window open and the street was lively, we closed to the window and were in silence... The staff are so friendly and helpful, we arrived on a very early flight and our room not surprisingly was not available 9AM. They took our luggage and said they would telephone as soon as the room was ready. They did a couple hours later and we arrived back to have the room ready, our bags in it along with a small bottle of sparkling wine...
