Very good small local hotel

Reviewed By Martin C

Stayed here for 3 nights. Small comfortable friendly hotel. My room was well equipped and bed and pillows comfortable. My room overlooked the road and there was a fair amount of traffic noise. Didn’t bother me but if you are sensitive to noise ask for room overlooking car park. Excellent breakfast all served at table. Excellent location within easy walk of main attractions and (very handy) has own car park. Would certainly stay again.

Great place to stay when visiting Bury St Edmunds area

Reviewed By maisonbijou

Location of the hotel was very good; just off the centre. Staff were very pleasant and very helpful, and organised an early breakfast for us. No other meals available, but we were given a map showing all of the many eateries on offer in Bury. Room was lovely and clean. All in all a great place to stay when visiting Bury.

Comfortable and friendly

Reviewed By danceswithdaffodils

A great pub with very friendly staff and excellent food. We stayed here for one night. The bedroom was spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable and warm. We had dinner in the bar. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but it was hot when it did arrive. The only thing that spoiled the ambience was the ‘pop’ music coming through the speakers. It felt out of place and where we were sitting sounded very tinny. It was even louder in the courtyard outside, which was a shame, as it is so very well decked out and a lovely area to sit. If you are lucky enough to get a parking space, be aware that it is all permit parking, or a yellow line after 6pm. Although it is walking distance into town, you won’t be able to leave your car at the pub because of the permit parking, unless of course you go into town in the evening. Breakfast was good, with a good continental selection as well as the choice of a fried breakfast. Once again, the ‘pop’ music playing through the speakers in the morning did spoil a good breakfast. It wasn’t particularly loud, just a bit annoying. An enjoyable stay nonetheless, though I won’t be rushing back.

Birthday Weekend

We booked here for a couple of days over the Bank Holiday. The Inn is stunning, set in beautiful gardens surrounded by farmland in the pretty village of Bardwell. The accommodation is converted stables in the grounds. The rooms were lovely, comfortable, clean, good comfy bed and quality linen, with a nice en-suite. The usual tea, coffee, toiletries and towels were provided. Outside the rooms was a lovely seating area to enjoy the sunshine and a drink. Breakfast was good, a nice full English with tea, coffee, toast etc, cooked well with quality ingredients. We dined in the Inn on one night, the wait was quite long, but was worth it, food was yummy and service was good. Will definitely be back as the whole place was so chilled and relaxing. Definitely recommend.

Another Great Visit

Second stay at the Bushel, its perfectly located in Bury for a weekend break as everywhere is within easy walking distance, the room whilst a few easy repair issues were missed was spacious and comfortable. The bed was very very comfortable. Above all the staff are really first class, so friendly, very helpful and genuinely happy to look after you. The pub itself is pretty good too, popular for the right reasons and the clientele friendly. Will return again later this year.

A room with good views …

Reviewed By David L

Our hosts were friendly and delightful for our three night stay and we were given a free upgrade to a nice, comfortable, double aspect room with a view of St. Mary’s Church as per photograph. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was excellent with a fresh fruit dish, yoghurt, cereals, croissants and fresh toast to order. We would recommend Crownplace to other visitors and would not hesitate to return here if we are in this area again. Thanks for a good service. David & Celia L.
