Great place for families

Food is good in average, the asian restaurant is extremely hot, need to have some fans otherwise is difficult to stay there. Overall the hotel members tried to make a difference and were helpful. Marco at the pool's bar always tried yo serve with a big smile. The only thing is missing are the Aliens like in Tampico to get rid of the hurricans.

Reviewed By 651jenzWell you cant go wrong with the Barcelo no matter where you go. We arrived on Oct 31st for a much needed vacation. While checking in they upgraded our room. It was so beautiful. The front desk manager recognised us from a previous stay wich was nice. Although we didnt have our friends working in this part of the resort they still checked with Palace staff to make sure we were good so thank you again Juan Montejo Gomez, Christian Sanchez Perez and Lucio Sanchez Perez our holiday was once again amazing

Reviewed By Jose Luis PI give the staff of the hotel 5 stars, however I found very disappointed that the disco inside the resort was closed “due to covid” The servers were great especially Guillermo Hernandez in the buffet, very good service, and always did the impossible to find what we wanted.

Amazing Stay - Friendly Staff, Delicious Room, Incredible Service All Around

They’re not big hotel fans, so we were planning to use it simply as a place to stay while the tours would be the main attraction of our vacation - we ended up wishing we had stayed longer and are planning to book a lengthier vacation so as to enjoy our time there more. To begin with, the hotel helped us tremendously with tours. We got incredible deals and sizable discounts - the person who attended us was extremely welcoming and understanding. It genuinely offered much better options than online, which is why next time we plan to choose most of our tours there. Guest Services was very receptive and we got to choose our restaurants almost instantly (both were available at good times!). The atmosphere was incredibly nice and the rooms were impeccable - always clean and tidy, private (which we loved), but not too far from the pool or the lobby. The staff I cannot praise enough. Incredibly affable and amiable, always willing to offer - I remember asking for a certain cocktail which they did not know how to make, and they offered to have me teach them or show them the recipe so they could make it for me. I did end up finding someone who knew how to make it in another bar (there’s a lot of them!) so that wasn’t necessary. The pool was never too crowded or rowdy, and there were ALWAYS comfortable spots and hammocks for us available as well as plenty of towels. Same with the beach. It was very relaxing to lay down and read a book. My father and brother in law particularly loved the swimming pool bar - they must have drank at leas 20 drinks each time we went, all very well made. I didn’t go to the grill buffet (right beside the pool, for those that are hungry!) but my sister did go and she said the mashed potatoes there were delicious! Talking about buffets, I want to say that the buffet was perhaps our favorite part of the trip, no shame at all. I should mention that the buffet at colonial has themes each night and is quite beautiful, for those who are interested in that, but we personally loved the buffet at tropical as there was a lot of variety each day. The refried beans were DELICIOUS and I had to have them with a tacos pretty much every night. The mushrooms pizza was incredible as well. There was incredibly variety of desserts every single day, for those who have a sweet tooth, and with a guilty conscience I say that the kids mini desserts were perhaps one of the best. Breakfast was amazing, and I wish we had more time to enjoy it. There was always churros and hot chocolate at your disposition (and I always got them!), variety of cereals, and even heavy food if you wanted a real hearty breakfast. Moreover, the staff was, as always, incredible - one morning our server sang us a whole song! The buffet is catered as ‘international’ and it is in the sense that there’s pretty much everything, not in the sense that it is American food (it is not at all). You can ALWAYS find Mexican food there. There are plenty of more food options scattered throughout the hotel so you will literally never go hungry. The hotel has a mall and market section which I quite enjoyed - I got a few souvenirs at lower prices thanks to some good offers/negotiation. We also loved the bus, although that might sound weird. It was quite fun to just take a trip around the hotel and see all the sections. There are plenty of free things offered. However, there is one paid thing I one hundred percent recommend, and that is the USPA. We typically don’t go to those amenities but I managed to convince everyone to go and boy was it worthy. We got a simple 25 minute massage, but ended up wishing we went with the longer option. It was INCREDIBLY relaxing, and the place itself was very elegant and peaceful. Moreover, they offer you one hour of free hydrotherapy and even give you discounts if you go within the second day of arrival - cannot urge you enough to go if it’s your thing. Overall, our stay was awesome. We’re planning to return as soon as we can - maybe July or August, and stay around 8 days or so so we can really take it all in and make the most of our stay. Thanks for the great time!

Arrived at the resort at around 10.30 at night due to delays at the MAN airport. We have upgraded to privileged and the perks are good. We had cake, fruit platter and bottle of wine delivered to our room. It was also my husband birthday on the 4th June and we had a cake delivered from TUI. We have had the best time here!. Can't fault the staff, the hotel and met some great people from different countries. We did Tulum Chill and Tour, Coco Bongo ( best night ever), Sunset Trail, Turtle Bay. We would have done 1 or 2 more trips if it wasn't for heavy rain for the first few days. But after we have had hot sunny weather. We have eaten at Beloved, Italian, Ayami, The Grill and La Brisa. We been to the Grill and Ayami twice. Food was lovely. ? Tried some of the local cocktails.. Paradiso, Maya Riveria, Mudslide, Purple Rain and Mango Margarita, Margarita Blue and Strawberry Daiquiri. (All these can be found on this page) Plenty of sun loungers round the pool, beach and small area for privileged guest. We not much of seeing evening entertainment and like to relax in the lobby with a few cocktails. Only evening entertainment we seen was Moulin Rouge and Latino Pop. Really sad we are going but we will be returning to this hotel in the near future. Everyone enjoy your rest of your holidays! ?
