The 32 km loop road in Yercaud is one of the must to do things in Yercaud. This road is particularly famous in the city for its several hairpin turns and the long stretch of scenic road. The twists and turns are a little uncomfortable, but the splendid view makes the drive worth it. It is advisable to drive carefully on this road, without risking overtakes to ensure safety for all. We saw lots of monkeys on the way. The condition of the roads is good for a smooth drive. The tree lined roads will offer a spectacular view of the area around you, which is worth all the trouble and time. There are dense trees on both sides of the road and coffee plantations. We saw mist come in go at several patches giving it a heavenly feeling. Its basically a ring road to Yercaud. There is not much traffic and overall had a good exprience.

The Shevaroy temple is situated on highest point of the Shevaroy hills in Yercaud and is mainly dedicated to Lord Shevaroyan. The temple is built out of a narrow black rock cave. The idols of Lord Shevaroyan and Goddess Kaveri are placed inside it. They are covered with Gold.
The native tribals come in hundreds and celebrate their annual festival in the premises of this temple during the month of May every year. The panoramic view from the Shevaroy temple area is marvelous. A good view of Yercaud town and Nagalur can be seen from this hill. There is a huge tree outside the cave of the temple and is believed to be more than 500 years old by the locals. Must visit place.

Montfort School, Yercaud, is a secondary school for boys and girls (Co-ed) run by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel in the town of Yercaud. Montfort Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School is a residential institution with a glorious history which dates back to 1917. Initially, it was a European school founded during the 1st World War. George Spitteler was the first student to be registered in Montfort in June1917. The period between 1936 and 1942 were the glorious years in the history of Montfort. It was during this period that the school chapel was built and consecrated.
In 1975, 'Mayfield' was purchased and the present buildings were put up to start the Higher Secondary Classes. Presently it houses the junior school from Stds III to VII. Montfort has produced numerous personalities in all walks of life.
They have a massive area around the school with Football field, basketball court, etc. The building is majestic and the school is one of the best boarding schools in the country. One must atleast the the place from outside while visiting Yercaud.

We were staying at Brooks, from which the Pagoda point was walkable. This spot is pretty secluded and offers a two story structure, from where you can see the sights below. We couldn't see much because of the haze, but it was picturesque nonetheless.

Undoubtedly the best view point in Yercaud with breadth taking (actually giving) greenery around. Though a small area only overlooks the rocky terrain nearby, but the place is not crowded like Lady/Gent/Children Seats or Pagoda point, so you can pose to your heart's desire. You have to walk ~1km from the road to reach here - the muddy road which leads up to this point was washed away in early June. It is a slight detour off 32 km loop road and can be easily included in local cab day trip (which costs ~1800/- by the way).

Its a small lake with filthy water. You need to buy tickets to enter the boating complex as well. There are different types of boat available for hiring. A row boat (can fit 4 people) with helper costs around INR130 and full circle takes about 10min. There is nothing else to see.

Kiliyur Falls is a waterfall in the Shervaroyan hill range in the Eastern Ghats of Tamil nadu. The waters overflow into the Yercaud Lake into the Kiliyur Valley. The falls are located at a distance of about 2.5 kms from the Yercaud lake. The final 500 metres or so is a rough steep pathway. The falls offers a breathtaking sight during the monsoon time when the water levels are at the maximum. The best time to visit this place is immediately after the monsoons, but we had a good time even in December last week and there are enough water flowing.
The place requires reasonably good physical fitness since the climb down to the Waterfalls and then climb back takes a good amount of stamina. There are about 250-300 huge steps to climb one way. But the place is good and worth it.

Botanical garden is a nice place to visit at Yercaud. The National Orchidarium and Botanical garden is maintained by southern circle of Botanical Survey of India. The National Orchidarium was established in the year 1963. The total area of Orchidarium is around 20 hectares. There are supposed to be around 3000 trees and 1800 shrubs grown in Orchidarium. To me the insectivorous pitcher plant is among the interesting plants grown in the Botanical garden. Some of the original Forests still exist in the Yercaud hills and contain several endemic species of plants and fauna. Botanical Garden, Green house and National Orchidarium boasts as one of the must visit place in Yercaud.
There are hundreds of plants and different varieties of orchids here. Kurinji flower that blossoms once in twelve years is also found here. The best time to visit this place is during summer flower shows as the garden is decorated with maximum variety of flowers.They have Green house which is not very well maintained though. The Botanical Garden has various sections with respect to the plant species growing here. There are sectors such as foliage garden, topiary garden, bonsai garden, butterfly garden, herbal garden, rock garden, water garden and sensory garden.
Overall good place to visit and spend about 2-3 hours.
