Hauge (1908-1994) is considered one of the most significant Norwegian poets and translators of poetry. He worked as a fruit farmer and made his literary debut in 1946. Hauge was an avid reader from childhood and at his home on Rossvoll in Ulvik, he gathered great knowledge from the reading of literature from all over the world. He published several collections of translations of English, French and German poetry. His own poetry has been translated into more than 20 languages. The museum shop at the Hauge Centre offers a wide selection of literature, works on and by Olav H. Hauge, contemporary poetry and books in New Norwegian for all ages. You can also browse a great selection of exciting and affordable gift ideas. The Green Cafe is situated on the Hauge Centre's ground floor and is run by chef Paul Richards. The place offers a good menu of hot and cold dishes using local products. The Green Cafe has indoor and outdoor seating right by the beautiful Ulvik fjord, a perfect spot for doing a bit of reading, thinking or talking. The cat hunt is an exciting activity for the kids. Hauge's cat has got several hiding places throughout the exhibition. By following its footsteps, the kids can suddenly find the cat in unexpected places while at the same time getting to know both Hauge and the cat a bit better. At the end of the hunt, a nice little surprise gift awaits you at the reception.

You'll find Syse Gard and the beautiful views around this place in the inmost Hardangerfjord at Ulvik. The farmers at Syse Gard, Gro og Hans represent the 5th generation since faming started at Syse Gard. They will give you an experiences of tradition and creating in a lively farming environment. The farm shop offers a broad range of products, from fresh fruits to applesnacks, cured meat, preserved plums, apples and homemade apple juice produced of apples from the orchards. Osa mountains is a mountainarea 1.250 m.a.s.l. Open road May-September(dependent on weather). Approx. 20 km from Ulvik centre. Toll road. Great hiking terrain, fishing and game hunting possibilities.

Production of fruit from a number of old types of apples on the farm gives a wide self production of juice and cider with a variety of tasty experiences. Premium apple juice and award-winning ciders in 2010.

The waterfall is 20km from Ulvik and lies approx. 10 -15 minutes walk from Hjadlane Gallery and Osa Cafe. The waterfall is regulated and may therefore vary in volume. From here you can reach Osa Mountain at 1250m. above sea level. Road open May - Sept. depending on the weather. Excellent terrain for hiking, fishing and small game hunting. Toll Road . Hardangerjokulen glacier can be seen from Osa mountain area.

Ulvik church was consecrated in 1859. The interior was decorated with rose-painting in 1923 by the artist Lars Osa. Here you will find a copy of one of the best known religious pictures from the Norwegian Middle Age Ulvik-antemensalet. Contact the tourist office for information and guiding. The Church is open daily form 10:00 - 16:00 in the summer season. Entrance is free.
