Tobolsk (Russian: Тобо́льск) is a town in Tyumen Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Tobol and Irtysh Rivers. Founded in 1590, Tobolsk is the second oldest Russian settlement east of the Ural Mountains in Asian Russia, and is an historic capital of the Siberia region. Population: 99,694 (2010 Census); 92,880 (2002 Census); 94,143 (1989 Census).

We visited the kremlin on a sunny Sunday and it looked really beautiful with its blue and golden domes. The view of the low quarter behind the kremlin is also very pretty. There's a square in front of it with souvenir and food stalls.

Сделали себе подарок на 8 марта вызвали такси к отелю и договорились с таксистом за 1200 рублей посетить Абалакский мужской монастырь, туристический комплекс Абалак и Иоанно - Введенский женский монастырь. Знаменский монастырь находится на высоком берегу Иртыша в живописном месте. В советский период на территории монастыря находился пересылочный лагерь НКВД. В 1990-х гг. Абалакский храмовый комплекс начинает действовать, в котором сейчас можно помолиться перед списком с чудотворной иконы.

Very interesting museum collections. The first big perk is the lovely viewpoint from the back of the building. Then you enter and there are many museum collections - on the history of Tobolsk, on Tsar Nicholas II. and his family, who were incarcerated in that very building for a time. I enjoyed the carved statuettes from mammoth tusk, they were adorable.

What I liked about Tobolsk Historical and Architectural Reserve is tha fact that it's been taken care of, nicely preserved, the white of the walls and buildings is shining and even though in a bit of a God-forsaken region, it's got all the neccessary infrastructure a tourist shall need. Great place to visit.

Скульптурная группа героев сказки Ершова "Конёк-Горбунок" расположена около жилого дома на ул. С. Ремизова перед комплексом Тобольского Кремля. Вместе с прекрасным памятником автору сказки здесь есть смешной памятник царю, окунающему ногу в котёл с кипящей водой, фонтан в виде рыбы-кита с городом на спине (это ещё и мостик через фонтан), жар-птица и конечно же Иванушка-дурачок с Коньком-Горбунком. Скульптуры выполнены с большой душой, очень симпатичные, для детей одно удовольствие играть рядом с ними. Спасибо авторам проекта за это доброе чудо!

This museum is adjacent to the Governor's palace but has a very different feel. It was a working prison until the 1990's and shows just how dreary life as a prisoner would have been. Except for religious services there seemed to be nothing humane about the prison. Didn't visit a gulag so I can't compare a work camp to a prison but both were probably pretty grim places

This is a very small museum, and really only two rooms worked for me. But one of them is actually quite good, with memorable works by known Russian artists. Right across the street from the Tyumen Hotel.

It is currently only one room, located in the former government house and the lady speaks only Russian. But we got a good impression of life of the last russian Tzar and his family. There are ambitious ideas to extent the museum.

Идеальный вариант для тех, кто приехал посмотреть город или в командировку. Цены на уровне общегородских, но антураж, близость к достопримечательностям не сравнимы. Есть прекрасная комната для переговоров.
