The largest city in Wayanad district, it is the headquarters of Sultan Bathery taluq. It is a quiet and peaceful town. The place came to be known by its new name after Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan invaded the region and used the Jain Temple located here as a battery. Its a Research garden for agriculture , Locating Ambalavayal town of wayanad , variety of beautiful flowers are here , Many fruit plants , etc and we can also see some beautiful birds, like Wagtail, Magpie Robin etc

very near to edakkal caves. this place houses historical relics of this area and gives us a glimpse of the past civilisations of the area. a good effort and nicely maintained museum.

We visited ghe waterfalls last Sunday. Though there's less amount of water but the place was frequented by many people enjoying bathing in the water. It's quite a trek down but the entire scenic view is spellbinding. A must visit especially immediately after the monsoon season. Loved it.

Safari was fantastic..v have to go early morning around 7 to see animals..v had got good jeep driver n he explained about d forest..he took us deep into d woods..v found deer's..vultures..Langoor..v badly wanted to see elephants..after v entered d main road v saw elephants just in front of our jeep..v went few yards back m waited for elephants to cross d road..it was scary but lucky to see them walking majestically.
