Grenfell House is the restored residence of Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell. It is part of the Grenfell Historic Properties which also include The Grenfell Interpretation Centre, Grenfell Handicrafts, Tea House HIll & walking trail, the Dock House Museum and the Jordi Bonet Murrals at the Rontunda. Sir Wilfred was a young medical doctor who came to Newfoundland in 1892 and left behind a legacy of schools, orphanages, coop's and medical services, which still exits today.

You are best to visit this home after going to the Historical Properties main building and viewing the Grenfell exhibits. Lots of interesting period furniture, most of which belonged to the Grenfells. A beautiful sunlit porch. Interesting décor and explanations of living as a medical Mission family.

The trail is located behind the cemetery just down from Fisherman's Point. The trail is mostly a steep stair case, I think there were 476 Steps. For those Hamiltonians that miss the old wooden Wentworth steps, this will bring back some memories. The Dare Devil factor is that the stairs aren't all that well made or maintained. There were many broken railings and the stairs were a little shaky in places. My 15 year old son loved it!

The lighting in the hospital was somewhat dark, but as I took pictures, I could see more in my pictures. There is a pamphet at the front desk that explains the murals. It is worthwhile to visit and there is no charge.

We had fun here. There is a lighthouse nearby, plenty of picnic spots, trails for easy horizontal travel or a challenging vertical climb. We were too late for an iceberg show but there is plenty of vista scenes to enjoy. We made friends with a very tame 'black' fox with a white-tipped tail who popped it's head up where ever we went.

Fishing Point Emporium has a unique museum that shows must of the heritage and cultural items for the area. There are mounted animals that are local to the area. Many say it is the best Newfoundland. There a wonderful gift shop that carries most of the souvenirs you would need and also a variety of local crafts. This location is ideal for seeing Icerbergs and whales.

Be sure you stop in here after your excursion to the lighthouse. This shop has many various items to choose from, and all at reasonable prices. My daughter found beautiful earrings and a painted jellybean row stone she was quite happy with! And of course, excellent service :) As an added bonus, the owner has a small museum area with a wealth of information presented in an informative, interesting method. Worth the stop!

We made a brief "photo stop" here while on our Globus tour of Newfoundland and Labrador. While we did not have sufficient time to do the place justice, it was a nice spot for a stop.

This is a walking trail within Fishing Point Park. It offers views of the Saint Anthony harbor. It's also near the other Fishing Point trails. The trail is short, taking only 30 minutes or less to walk. Its starting point is near the other Fishing Point trails if you want to walk more.

The trail starts in Fishing Point Park and follows along the coast so great views of the ocean. It is a short trail if you don't continue on to the Daredevil Trail, maybe 30-40 min return. There are stairs along the way.
