I visited Sonamarg today.Considering it is September our driver suggested us to visit the zero point .we hired a local cab from Sonamarg, they charged a bomb .However the drive was once in a lifetime experience. It was truely a rollercoaster ride. View is breathtaking.It is defenitely not for the faint hearted.Luckily there was less vehicles so we didn't face any blocks. Just loved the experience.

This is among my favourite tourist places in Kashmir. Around 80kms away from Srinagar its a great mountain glacier. Beautiful views and snow experience all year round.
Lot of movies are shot here... most recently Bajrangi bhaijaan.
place has a restaurant which will service you Maggi tea coffee and other things.

The Gangabal lake is the final landmark on the Great Lakes of Kashmir trek. This place is definitely worth a visit. Located deep inside the Himalayas beyond the reach of mankind, this place is a real example of the beauty of Kashmir. The weather is real cold though but it is a must visit. We camped near the lake and it was simply awesome. One cannot miss this for sure..

We where on our way to Amarnath yatra from Chennai via Delhi - Srinagar - Sonmarg - Baltal - Panchatharani helipad - Neelgarth helipad - Amarnath cave,
The full journey from Srinagar to Amarnath Cave was absolutely thrilling with picturesque surroundings.
Baltal valley is one of the most beautiful place in India, This is the place from which the Amarnath yatra will start, if we prefer to trek , it will be around 18km trekking and it will take 5 - 6 hours, if we prefer helicopter it's a 8minutes journey and then 6km trekking which will take 2hours.
Dear friends be aware of the cold weather in Amarnath cave, it will be very cold throughout the year, So plan in such a way to catch the early morning helicopter from Baltal or at the earliest before 9am in the morning, so that you can return back to Baltal in the evening after completing the yatra.

The horse ride was fun and we got lots of great pictures all along the way up.we overpaid for the ride.make sure you bargain for rs 1000 per horse and nothing more than 1200.don't waste you time and money on the sledge ride.for rs 600 for a very very short distance its totally NOT worth it!
Enjoy the kewah yes,noodles and corn along the way!

Kishansar & Vishnasar, (Sar; meaning a natural pond/ spring in Kashmiri) the high altitude lakes.
Amazingly placed in the Pirpanjal range, these two lakes fall on the trek route from Shakdur to Naranag, a 65 Km long trek. The lakes are situated at almost 14,000 feet.
Kishansar & Vishansar are placed next to each other and under the foothills of Gadsar Pass, which makes the uphill trek to Gadsar very terrifying and amazing at the same time.
While you can camp near Kishansar & Vishansar on the banks of a tributary that flows out from these lakes. The valley is mesmerizingly beautiful and will haunt you for quite some time.
The water of the lakes is ice-cold and greenish in appearance.
The trek as a whole is an awesome treat for the nature lovers and the trek at the same time is tiring and kind of dangerous in its own way.

Gadsar pass offers a real challenge to trekkers doing the Great Lakes of Kashmir trek. This one is surely not for the faint hearted. The view of the twin lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar as you start climbing the pass are awesome. A must visit for sure to experience the real might of the Himalayas..

Nichnai is a part of the Great Lakes trek. The pass is as like other passes which takes your breath away while trekking. The views one is exposed to while crossing the pass are simply awesome. And when there is snow everywhere, what else do you want..

This pass offers the best of snow experience for sure. The snow is untouched and one feels in heaven when at this place. We did experience some bad weather while we were here but that is momentary considering the beauty of the place. You cannot miss this for sure..
