Shah Alam /ʃɑː ˈɑːləm/ is a city and the state capital of Selangor, Malaysia and situated within the Petaling District and a small portion of the neighbouring Klang District. Shah Alam replaced Kuala Lumpur as the capital city of the state of Selangor in 1978 due to Kuala Lumpur's incorporation into a Federal Territory in 1974. Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after independence from Britain in 1957.

Lovely place to visit, have a great architectural touch on the building. Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah is the state mosque of Selangor, Malaysia. It is located in Shah Alam. It is the country's largest mosque and also the second largest mosque in Southeast Asia after Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Indonesia. Its most distinguishing feature is its large blue and silver dome. The mosque has four minarets, one erected at each of the corners. As additional, (Restaurant Nasi Arab) also located inside the persiaran masjid.

Convenient for residence who stay in Setia Alam. Many restaurants and fast food chain store can be found here. There's GSC cineplex in the mall, supermarket at LG. Nearly everything can be find here.

The National Botanical Garden Shah Alam or Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA) which was previously known as TPM and which was initially known as Bukit Cherakah Agriculture Park was developed on 24th April 1986 before it was promulgated as the Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam Agriculture Park Malaysia by the late Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj ibni Hishamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj in 1991. The name TBNSA conferred to the park now is in line with the decision made by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2007 to further develop TBNSA as a replacement to TPM as national botanical garden. The objective for the development of TBNSA is to create a national center of excellence within the fields of education, scientific research and conservation for the development of botanical, horticulture, agriculture and other various related fields.

free to enter, very large lake good for jog,cycling,kayak or just walk in the park. the only thing you have to remember is to pay your parking ticket which is 40sen/hour = 0.9cent USD

Perpustakaan (in Bahasa, which means library) Raja Tun Uda, is a multi-storey buildings, filled with books of many disciples, and many amenities that would cater for all age groups, and for the different activities that they would want to engage in.
Other than rows of books, there are also Audio Visual rooms, Discussions / Meetings rooms, Kids area. It also comes equipped with gyms and prayer rooms (both gender separated!).
Good for activities with friends, colleagues and kids.
Just a gripe, though. One is expected to remove shoes and either place it in front of the door, or to bring it in a pouch provided at the door. It makes it a tad difficult to get to ither floors. I'd suggest for the shoes to be left at the very front ground floor, and that all other areas are made to cater for barefoot walking.
But other than that, no other complaints! Thanks to the Sultan of Selangor for his inspiration, and the Selangor State Government for keeping the facilities well-maintained.

dropped by Aeon Mall and had dinner at Haikara. ordered chicken udon soup, steam fish soup, and for drinks we had matcha tarik and mineral water. dessert was a shared kyoto matcha wiith red beans shaved ice. both chicken udon and steam fish soup were good, as our tongues still remember the japanese fare we had two weeks ago in Japan. matcha tarik was smooth and delightful, not too sweet and tasted very nice indeed. and the shaved ice matcha with red beans completed the great dinner. if you hanker for halal japanese food, Aeon Mall is the place to go to.

The City of Lights Park was pretty impressive after sun down. No entrance fee if you just wish to take a stroll. Many trees were half lit. Wished the park would carry out better and regular maintenance as this is a great tourist attraction. Quite disappointed also that there are not many eateries around as there were a lot of families around.

I took the advice in the previous review and only went to Seni 7, opposite of the food court next to Shah Alam Hospital.
It was a pleasant early Saturday morning walk when not many tourists around. (If you enjoy photography, please make your way here early like I did as there will be many selfie sticks around later.)
The interesting arty graffiti are at the back alleys. You will not miss them as they are very easily identified.
I was just in Central Hong Kong admiring the street art few days ago but now being the only non-muslim standing in front of some Malaysian graffiti. The feeling wasn’t the same as this place is rough. But somehow, I prefer its non-commercial rustic atmosphere over the highly prized HK antique streets.
Very cool arts and interstate environment - the whole area sells fabrics and traditional (as well as more modern) Malay outfits.
Do stop if you are nearby

This is a man made lake in the city centre of Shah Alam. The lake is surrounded by beautiful landscaped Gardens and is a popular retreat for residents in the evenings and during weekends. There are raised platforms in sections of the lake where you can view wildlife like tortoise, fish, birds and jungle fowl. Jogging, cycling, walking and picnics are some of the activities here. A nice place to relax and commune with Nature.

Weekly Saturday Night Market with mixture of individual stalls hawking clothing, consumer goods, snacks, Chinese ans Malay fast food, and specialty drinks. The atmosphere is usually crowded and noisy. Nice to shop and having dinner here but do expect the food price is KL's standard.
