 Sandefjord (help·info) is a city and municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Sandefjord. The municipality of Sandefjord was established on 1 January 1838. The municipality of Sandar was merged into the municipality of Sandefjord on 1 January 1968. On 1 January 2017, rural municipalities of Andebu and Stokke were merged into Sandefjord as part of a nationwide municipal reform.

Top of the things to do in Sandefjord, as to be fair there isn't a lot else going on. Lots of stuffed animals, and an interesting history of the whaling industry- from it's inception to its eventual decline. Not too gory in the details, but in parts quite chilling. Child friendly in the animal part- not so for the whaling history

If you are fond of beer, this is the best place to visit. They produce the beer by them self and import beer from several small brewery around the Europe. Atmosphere is also very good and the furniture's are very original. The staff and workers there is also very nice and know a lot of beer if you ask them.

Bakgaarden

Bakgarden (the back yard) is the town's creative corner that must be experienced. Here are some of the town's oldest buildings, which today includes galleries, shops and a very special café. The backyard is a cultural arena with a focus on adventure, diversity and inclusion. Year-round shops with everything from handcrafted jewelry in silver, stones and pearls, paintings, photography, design clothing, purses, pottery, handmade paper, glass art, redesign, interior and much much more. There is also a spa. Bakgarden Kafe serves delicious dishes and refreshing beverages inside and outside in the cozy backyard! This is the place you just need to visit! Bakgaarden is a favourite place of ours, it is not far from the town centre but with it's collection of cafes, boutiques and old world charm make it a great spot to just chill out for a while. There is a nice atmosphere to the place and is worth a visit when in Sandefjord.

I really like this small Olav's Chapel just a few steps from Sandefjord centrum!It is nice small and once I was living in Norway wanted my wedding here to happen:)so nice to make good authentic photos of typical Norwegian wedding!

This is a unique collection showing the development of the Norwegian paint industry and painter's craft over more than 100 years. The replica of the old paint shop from the Beginning of the past century is a favourite with many visitors. There are sections showing the development of the computer technology used in the company, as well as examples from the local culture of the countries where Jotun has productions units. A very good private museum belonging to the Jotun paint company. This is the largest one in northern Europe. And one of 4 largest paint company in the world I think. Very good and informative from the beginning and up to today. The process of making paint etc... Very interesting.

The art association also actively take part in other kind of events such as art-evenings, book-presentations and seminars. Visit a new and exciting gallery at the outermost tip of Vesteroya (Folehavna). The owner is Maja Flood - a potter and her workshop is in the gallery. Several renowned artists are represented within differing forms and formats. Pottery Classes are held each spring and automn.

Et flott lite galleri langt ut på Vesterøya i Sandefjord. Meget hyggelig betjening av innehaveren. Åpent normalt fra 11 til 16 hver dag.
Spesielt mye fine kunstglass av meget høy kvalitet og særpreget design.
De siste årene har Unni Wilhelmsen holdt konsert i hagen. Det er en meget særpreget og intim konsert med en særpreget og dyktig artist. Anbefales varmt. Det serveres drikke med og uten alkohol og hjemmebakst under konserten. Følg galleriet på Facebook. Anbefales.

My daighter and i went here a few times. And its lot of fun for kids:) big, water slide, and when ur done they have a smal cosy cafee you can order smal well tasted dishes. Great fun & nice times

In Sandefjord you will find Gallery M where Marit Bergem works and exhibits his colorful paintings with a good dose of humor. She has worked as an artist with the painting as a specialty for many years. Inspiration she finds in life around her, special situations, children's simple and honest expression and nature's endless treasures. A thrilled audience come from afar to see her pictures and she is participating increasingly in other Exhibitions and galleries across the country.
