Porto Chino

It's the shopping plaza which combine many restaurants, fast food shop, grab and go food stand, food court, Max Value ; convenience store and many standing shops for shopping choices.
So it's the one stop shopping place which you can go to find something to eat, to shop and even to do some banking.
There're wide selections for your meal and shopping. There're outdoor parking available. It's quite crowd during weekend as its the part way to Hua Hin. As during weekend, people who lived in BKK will seek for weekend escape to Hua Hin and shall stop for break the car and rest from long drive. It's quite far from heart of Bangkok so not recommend as the shopping or the must place to visit as you can find a lot of community mall in the heart of town. But if you have to pass, I'd recommend to visit.

shall stop by for break

We went to the temple on Sunday morning. We spent about three hours including lunch there. The main hall is beautiful inside and outside. There are restaurants by the river. The river views are good.

Phutthamonthon park is over 50 years old and is spread over 2500 Rai.
It has one of the tallest standing Buddha statue.
Another marble stone building just few meters away is the big marble viharn that has the entire Buddhist canon
engraved in 1418 marble steles.
Phutthamonthon park is about 45 minutes drive from Bangkok in Greater Bangkok area called in Phutthamonthon district in Nakhon Pathom
Its a lovely park, full of trees, manicured Gardens, nice walkways and several ponds that have many fish and tortoises.
It has several food stalls inside the park and easy to drive around within the park or just walk.
I saw many thai couples and families with kids feeding bread to fishes or just sitting on grass, relaxing or playing with kids.
Entry and parking is free.
Its very calm, beautiful and a perfect place to spend half a day of picnic with family and friends.
I made me feel very nice being here.

Don Hoi Lot (Razor Clam Digging)

Reviewed By PaulandSu - Hua Hin, Thailand

We had heard about this place before so on our way back from Bangkok we took the short diversion to go and see for ourselves, and we were pleasantly surprised, we saw a nice market along the edges of the road near the sea and lots of great restaurants nearly all overlooking the sea.
The interesting part for us was that the tide was out.... a long way, we could not even see the water when we arrived, however within an hour and a half the tide started to come in and slowly it came up and under the restaurant, which was like a small pier, very interesting and lots of local fishermen came out and started to look for the razor clams for which this area is famous for.
Worth a visit and the meal was great and reasonably priced as well.

This temple is situated in Nakhon Pathom province which not far from Bangkok. It's a very big time complex, you can spend even a day here. There is a fish pond where you can feed " Koi & Gold Fish" with a feeder... amazing experience... you just have to make a donation in the box and you can take fish feeds.. This activity is very popular among children as well as old..getting there is quiet a challenging, as there are quiet a few buses from Bangkok goes there. If you have a local friend there no problem...

Phan Thai Norasing Shrine

Reviewed By desi d

I am truly blessed that my girlfriend knows a good place when she recognizes it as I would have driven past this place without a second thought! Absolutely not on the tourist route and a bit out of the way, as far as tourists are concerned this is Unseen Thailand! Car parking for thousands of cars…why; simply because so many Thai people come here.
Honesty and integrity is somewhat missing in today’s world but everybody wants to achieve it and this man “PhanThai Norasing” did more than that: he paid his life for it! If you read the history he was described as a coxswain but basically he was in charge of teaching the Thai people how to navigate and captain the boats within Thailand. After he made a mistake of damaging the Kings figure head he was excused the normal sentence of death, he begged the King not to excuse him as others would use him as an example to do things wrong so the King did digress and he was executed. Beheaded at the actual spot he choose because he loved the view; he was given certain rights and the King respected him so much he had a shrine built and areas marked to the exact position where Phan Thai Norasing sat in his last moments before being beheaded and the figure head placed beside him. The full story is written on a plaque at his shrine, only written in Thai it was translated to me and my attitude changed immediately to this location, a very beautiful area and lots to see including the boat he damaged which I paced at 24 paces. Food, shops and all you need at this location. Well worth making time to visit this place of integrity and beauty. I suggest starting at the plaque and having it translated so you understand the full intent of this shrine. It is located thought the entrance and turn left past the shrine and follow your nose.

On an excursion to Damnoen Saduak, stopped by Sampran Elephant Camp followed by this place, usually called Rose Garden, but the roses are all but gone. By 3pm, the show is winding down. Dance is ok, but same as Siam Niramit. Good musicians. Muay Thaii boxing obviously fake. Before 4 pm, the exhibitors/demonstrators are gone, leaving the props to your imagination. Dusty items on the stores. Food vendors want to close early. Not worth a trip from Bangkok. Maybe just a stop if you're in the area and get there way before 3 pm

Salt Evaporation Pond

Reviewed By Raintree_Thailand - Bangkok, Thailand

If you're traveling to Cha-am or Hua Hin from Bangkok, you'll likely pass by the salt flats in Samut Sakhon. If you have your own vehicle and the option to do so, and it's salt-making season (dry season), stop at one of the salt ponds and have a look. Very interesting and educational. Fascinating to learn about the evaporation process and see how the salt water is pumped into the evaporation ponds (some still using centuries-old windmill technology). One can also get good appreciation for the incredibly harsh work of shoveling and shifting, bagging, and carrying the heavy salt under the blazing sun, reflecting of the salt with blinding force. Of course, buy a few bags of the fresh salt for home use and for gifts. The only negative of the operations is thinking about the rich mangrove Forests and swamps that were cleared years ago to make way for the salt ponds.
