Radstock Museum

This history museum depicts life in a rural mining community in England, featuring the social, mining and farming heritage of the area.

We took advantage of a rainy Bank holiday Sunday to visit this museum and loved it! The quality of the displays are first class and the volunteers staffing it are just lovely. We learnt a lot about the history of coal mining in the area, amongst other things. We enjoyed a virtual reality video of life in a coal mine which was excellent. At £6 per adult to enjoy the museum, this was a steal. We were enjoying the history so much that we didn’t manage to visit the cafe, but the snacks looked very appealing. A massive thanks to the volunteers who are so passionate about their local history.

Tucker's Grave Inn & Campsite

Legendary Somerset pub Tuckers Grave Inn, was built in the mid 17th Century near the burial site of its namesake Edward Tucker This historical pub has remained unchanged since WW1, and is on the 'National Inventory of Historic Interiors' Tuckers has a truly unique & authentic feel as well as being only one of 6 or so pubs like this left in the UK without an actual bar.. The campsite is a nifty two minute stroll from the pub and is spread out in a gorgeous countryside setting, ideal for city dwellers looking for a rural experience. The perfect place to relax and enjoy a well earned pint

As always a fabulous trip at a fabulous location with fabulous people. Thank you Jo and team you are doing a great job with tough new rules. The toilets, on the actual campsite, albeit, only portaloos are absolutely spotless and a credit to your cleaning crew. Fully stocked with every anti bacterial wipe and spray you would ever need. Better than some toilet blocks I’ve seen in other places! Cider is great, pub is great, staff are great and overall a 5 ********** place to stay. Only sad thing, we are missing the music but fully understand under current circumstances this cannot be but fingers crossed ???? it will be back soon. Thank you Jo and gang XX

Cheddar Reservoir

Reviewed By ragamuff1n - Leyland, United Kingdom

Well worth a visit to the resevoir. Its a lovely flat 3.5km circular walk around the reservoir, not too strenuous and suitable for all. We went on a slightly cloudy day but take note if the temperature climbs above 23 degress then the resevoir can shut to stop people swimming in it. Check the website before you go. We took a picnic and found a lovely spot to eat just past the kayaks. Lovely walk and suitable for all ages.
