Nafpaktos Old Port

The old port is a thing of true beauty. Just the looks of it can travel you centuries back to medival times.Nice cafez all around and even better restaurants. Misses perfection however when it is SO overcrowded. People and cars and streets and pavements become one during some nights lowering and diminishing the very essence of the castle- port.

The Statue of Cervantes

Reviewed By 1TraveltheWorld - Alice Springs, Australia

The statue of Cervantes and the monuments that commemorate the Battle of Lepanto, are located within the small port harbor in Naupactus.
We happened to stop there while there was a rehearsal of an evening drama and production play with a several metre tall puppet Cervantes, even donning his quill.

A lake from one side and sea to the other.
A nice suggestion for those who want swim, suntanning, coffee or other drinks-cocktails, fast food-lunch in one place from the morning till late at night.
Beach bar and service are quite fast and kind, prices are normal and the music isn't annoying if you'd like to relax.

This is a great cafe/bar close to the port, right across the street. It usually hosts parties with different djs and several events. It's a nice place for a casual drink. Sometimes is hit- or miss depending on the event it hosts.

The Chapel of Prophet Elijah

Reviewed By Chrysostomos T - Naupactus, Greece

- It is said that the Vatican in Rome is a state within a state. Here we have a "castle" within another castle. A "refuge" in another shelter. In this church people fled for protection, safety and seeking help not by people but by the Creator of creation, that is the Creator of the environment! One of the Castles that show that people with this temple to have faith and hope in God's help and less on the walls of the city-castle.

Botsaris Tower

Reviewed By Fergs85 - Thornton-Le-Dale, United Kingdom

When you drive into Nafpaktos you’ll notice that the name of “Lepanto” is added to the signs. This earlier name for the town would become famous as the name of a huge sea battle that took place in 1571, when a huge Ottoman armada was confronted by a fleet of Christian vessels representing the Holy League, a coalition put together by Pope Pius V. The battle , which took place in the Gulf of Patras, was notable for being the last of its kind to be fought almost entirely by galleys, and also marked a significant but not permanent setback for Ottoman expansion in the Mediterranean.
This battle deserves a full-scale museum, but unfortunately the Botsari Mansion falls short of delivering this. There are copies of famous paintings of the battle and not much more. However, there is no admission fee so if you’re in the vicinity you ought to take a quick look!
