Jardin de la Perrine

This Botanic Garden sits on the hillside overlooking Laval city. A quiet peaceful place for a picnic, private contemplation or just a stroll through the trees and shrubs. There is a pond, a baby animal farm and an avery as well. Even a small medieval township can get a little hectic at times. I found this place a sanctuary.

Chateau de Laval (Laval's Castle)

Reviewed By David B L - Los Angeles, California

This is the wonderful old Chateau of Laval in the old quarter / historic quarter of old town. It's so big that you'll see it long before you reach it. Massive walls with turreted tower facade. Walls and ramparts can be walked and explored, lots of walking and climbing, but worth it. Had nice tour in English. Can look down upon the bridge and the river, and historic old city. Enjoyable. ...

La Cite du Lait Lactopole Laval

Reviewed By Nicola W - Chepstow, United Kingdom

As a former dairy farmer, this place was made for me! A fantastic collection of antique dairy equipment, much of which I remember using (which is quite scary!), was beautifully displayed and curated. Quirkiness at its finest!
I enthusiastically dragged my poor wife to the 11:00 tour of the collection, conducted by a delightful guide who spoke excellent English - although I think I was perhaps even more enthusiastic about milk plate coolers than she was!
The only other visitors were a small group of elderly French people on a bus trip, who were receiving a lot more information from their guide in French than we were - but they seemed to be having a lovely time too!
The 3:00 tour would have been an even better one to go on because it included a tour of the old dairy and a film about the history of the place and the family who set it up.
Although it's not entirely clear from the website, you can only visit at one of the scheduled tour times - you can't expect to stroll around independently, which is a shame and we couldn't see a reason why not!
The tour ended with a very generous cheese tasting opportunity with five different cheeses and glass of apple juice. Excellent!

The Tourism Office is conveniently located one block from the train station. The woman working there was extremely helpful and provided many suggestions for a family with young children. She also spoke perfect English, which was a nice bonus! She went out of her way to help me make weekend plans outside of Laval, including looking up hours of operation and transportation options. I highly recommend stopping by!

Bateau Lavoir Saint-Julien

Reviewed By Christele61

A voir absolument !
