Found in the middle of nowhere....is a Geghard Monastery
The place is truly amazing in terms of architecture design that carved out of the adjacent mountain that surrounds by cliffs and the result made is jaw-dropping and fantastic.
Lots of stories and the designs to tell.
Food....don't worry outside the monastery there is a small market that being sell.

Every year millions of Armenians and foreigners visit to Kecharis monastery and small church next to Kecharis named after St Harutyun. This place is an ancient and historical place and situated near Tsaghkanc mount. It is reconstructed recently but loses its' historical shine.

Garni is a very interesting historical place in Armenia. But don’t expect buildings with sculptures and paintings. The Greek temple is completely empty. Its existence of that Greek temple as the well reconstructed, standing Greek-Roman colonnaded building together with the remains of other buildings (e.g. a bathhouse) make this place so special. Unfortunately, it was not possible to go into the building covering the remains of the bathhouse. Additionally, the signs describing the place and the found remains were partially in bad condition. Nevertheless, the landscape with the deep canyon is impressive.
For someone who is coming by car will be a problem to find a parking spot – the road towards the attraction is not wide and due to all the tourists parking spots are very rare.

A great walk talking around 60 inutes through basalat formations with a local guide - river makes a great backdrop too and watching the locals gong about their business on the banks of the river. End destination of the temple makes it a great short trek though it is quite steep and lose gravel underfoot so you will need good footwear.

This site is very much like the Devil's Causeway in western Ireland or Devil's Tower in the US state of Wyoming, but is seen from the bottom whereas the former is seen from the top and the latter is seen from the sides. The volcanic lava cooled to form these 6-sided columns which are interesting geologically, but some would not find a visit worth the time and effort it takes to get there because the road is on a 12% downward grade which makes it unwise for tour busses to go. Molten lava cools in such a way that it forms these 6-sided structures, because the hexagon takes the least amount of energy to form.

No matter how many time I was in Tsaghkadzor I always take a pic at this monument.
Yengibaryan was not just an actor. He was great artist, genius!! His art is alive till nowadays so does his spirit))) there's few actors than can compair with the master of "sad" joy.

Like a few museums in Armenia, it's dedicated to rich and famous people who want us to remember them. This one is in their house, and tells the story of the Orbeli family, a royal family that goes back many years. In this quiet town it's a nice little visit to break up the day.

Levons underground cave is a wonderful of excavation, carving, and persistence of a calling to dig, dig, and dig. It took him 22 years to finish it. It is exceptionall. Seven stories down through twisting stairs and walkways you see his cutouts and carvings. A 15-20 minutes ride from Yerevan.

There are many churches in Armenia named after Saint Hovhannes. This one is located in Abovyan on Russia Street at 40.275886, 44.631208. This is a new church, opened in 2013, and it is impressive indeed. It is considerably more ornate than most other new Armenian churches. For example, the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan is larger, but quite boring by comparison.
I rode my bike by Saint Hovhannes Church of Abovyan on Easter Sunday and it was packed with Armenians. There was also a wedding. The church is easy to access along Russia Street, which also has plenty of parking spaces.
This church has 5 domes and rises in the central part of Abovyan. Since it's so large, it can be seen from most of the surrounding area. I highly recommend you swing by this pretty site, even if just for a few minutes.

You will find Charent's Arch along the road to Geghard & Garni. The arch was built in 1957 and itself is not very impressive. On a clear day, the view is redeeming, offering sights all the way to Mount Ararat. The arch is dedicated to one of Armenia's most famous poets, Yeghisheh Charents and features his quote: "Pass the whole world with its Mountains white, to the beauty of Masis equals none!"
